Only people with potential
find potential in others.
For it takes a lot of potential
to admit in other people's competence.

What we know of ourselves is our measure

We cannot give to others our own right
That is not where I wish to walk and breathe
Instead it is where the poor live in a new land
It is where they struggle but know how to love
It is their feet I wish to wash with my own hand
There is no purpose other than hope
Not to gather for myself, but instead to spread
But what can I do except drop rocks into a pond
To watch forgiving ripples bring life to what once was dead

Love is like a bottle with

Try so hard to twist
and pry it open
but it spills all over and
then it feels like a glass half full
and a waste of -

Love is like a weird transition,
never know when it's coming, but
when it does, it just feels right.

There are times I need the spread of a meadow, green and flat
Or maybe a field with perfect rows of corn as I drive quickly by
I want to see the distance but not so much that I cannot be a part
Because where do people exist except in common occurrence?

Hands across the void unable to touch each other
Giant clocks with hands that move though we cannot see
Hands reaching to heaven but all we can feel is the rain
The sun and moon shine upon us but time passes not so gently

Between mountaintops is there a promise for the future?
What we see and gaze upon is only a moment to contemplate
Though some live in God’s country it is not the pleasure of most
To walk upon burning sands is the promise that we will live together

It is the truth that you must see in order to know truth itself
And so we must see his presence in the things we cannot touch
Yet what we feel is the warmth of day and the chill of the night air
And the sense of self that brings us together on common ground

Rise above overbearance
Fall beneath innocence
  To the cowering man
Search out the transperant
Shy feelings
  Don't fret
Expand understanding
Release tension
  Inherit greatness

What if she gives you her smile again ?
Is she gonna feel for a while without pain ?

What if you put her in your dreams tonight ?
Is she gonna stay until it's bright ?

What if you offer her your heart ?
Are you never gonna be apart ?

What if you try to pacify the butterfly ?
Is she gonna want to fly with you ?

What if you share her the rest of your life ?
Are you gonna accept as you are each other ?

You are still right here and waiting for her,
You were both in, you hope not too much.

What if she is still ignoring you ?
