Oh, the spiral descends.
Empty eyes watch
as the stairs drop
into a circle that bends
swirling in an
infinite depression.

Soft thuds fill the air
as numerous feet follow down
chased by their own
bone chilling sound,

and while they move forward
the darkness envelopes all.
Waves of light retreat
as the children of man
come here to fall.

one
my consciousness pleads with me

"have mercy on thy soul"

who are we if we cannot simply be

the consequences of conformity have began to take their toll

Are the “Things” that we have,
The “Things” we really need?
Are the “Things” that we want,
Out of necessity or greed?

“Things” are all the items
We are told that we must get,
Putting the naive misguided people
Deeper and deeper into debt

Told to us by big corporations
With their lying alluring ads
By a greedy society’s self-indulgence
Falling for the falseness
And ridicules new fads

THINGS,THINGS…. THINGS
And more “Things”
New houses, stylish clothes
Nice cars and diamond rings.

How many “Things”
Does a person have to obtain
Before they finally realize
They are just greedy selfish and vain

That is why I keep my “Things”
Few and far between
Because the ugliness of always wanting
To me is clearly seen

My humble life is packed
With everything that I really need
And I am free of all the want
Vanity and greed

My heart and soul are full
With Love, and the happiness it brings
Because I finally realized
The best “THINGS” in life
Aren’t  material “Things”

The ride is
a sickly set of statues
circling,
an ornate beauty
of predictable movements.

A carousal of fools,
stallions set stern in silence,
a caravan
of unwilling men
and women
that never stride
outside
the pre-ordained.

I watch them
still as mannequins,
eye set in the same positions,
seeing and thinking
the same thing.
They do not listen to
or hear the words I sing
when I try to bring
them their freedom.

The circle stops,
plastic bodies drop.
Paint chipped
they all dip
and rise no more
as I go on to explore
everything, alone.

Silent mouth and silent mind
The ignorant language of my kind.

To question is to be discouraged,
Brains to ravage not to flourish.

Don't question those who know more than you, don't look for knowledge, don't seek what's true.

Should we speak for others?
And say what can't be said
Or should we follow suit
And accept we should be led.
Conformity - right is right even if no-one is doing it, wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.

Some people are just
so normal they're weird.
Crisp suits and coffee
in the morning,
no gin and pajamas,
how freakish.
When they get mad,
they get productive
like insects,
rather than breaking
this or that.
Everything planned,
paid on time,
reminders posted
on the walls.
No kinks in their hoses,
no brown on their noses,
hair carefully parted
in just the right place.
They don't make art,
they buy it,
hang it on the walls
and then throw a party.
How lonely,
unfulfilled,
how strange their lives
must be.
My theory is
they've yet to find anything
worth going mad for.

why would anyone want to conform
to be known as one of the norm
that’s not unique
that won’t make you be remembered
they’ll forget you by the end of September
what’s so great about coloring inside the lines
the pages of our lives just get more scribbled over time
and that’s what makes us unique
that is how we will be remembered
we will be etched in their minds even in next December
break away break away you see
there’s no happiness in conformity
be that one green apple in a sea of red
don’t you understand what is being said
happiness fills your body when you do what you want and be who you are
embrace what people may see as ugly scars
but no they’re beautiful because it’s makes you YOU
and that’s the most beautiful thing a person can pursue
we are god’s wonderful creations
not meant to stand in formation
a beautiful mess
not a single person is any less
than the other
so stand up sisters and brothers
and be you and i’ll be me
and break away from conformity
