Still fresh
    with that "popping" sound
Not yet throwing
     that dreaded "L" word around
   Starting to fall
         but having fun going down

First taste,
     a different kind of feeling
Going slow
          not yet hoping
or dreading
      Just beginning to notice all
           the little things
  Too soon for deeper meanings

It's all still so new to me
but just recently...
I had a glimpse of chivalry,
    opening doors and carrying bags
      Actual, honest to goodness, decency!
        Very pleasantly
             surprising....

I thought you liked me
As a friend
And nothing more
Which killed me.

But I liked you
As so much more.
As more than a friend.
As that guy
Who would tie my shoes
And open my doors
And kiss my forehead.

As that guy who
Texts first in the morning
And last at night.

I loved you.

And now I know,
You will open my doors
And tie my shoes
And kiss my forehead.

And text me all day,
Not just in the morning
Or night.

Because you don't like me as a friend.
You like me as so much more.

And that gives me life.

You know it’s a cold world
with hearts even colder
So few heroes seen
Evildoers get bolder
No choice, but to step up
and prepare for the fight
Not many other men
will stand up for your rights
It’s time to think with your own mind,
to walk your own steps
Hold your head high, yes,
but, please, protect your own neck
There’s no need to stress
Just attempt to do your best
cleaning the world’s mess
Don’t forget to take a rest
It’s a lifetime achievement
A path you walk alone
There’s little time to settle
when there’s so much to roam
Don’t become sidetracked by attacks
or distracted by a side kick,
though it’s rare to find
a good friend or a nice chick
Still, remain focused,
stay true to the cause
Know how much time you lose
when you choose to pause
May your name become a legend
and strike fear into foes
May life become better
with everywhere that you go

Forgotten dreams
Thoughtless words
Bring the world down on young disasters
We are all used and abused
And finally broken by fears
Temptations and the thirst for love
Break even the strong
Chivalry is dead
No longer are kind words spoken
People are only controlled by lust and money
Thoughts and feelings are bottled up inside
Only to fester and boil
One wrong move can set anyone off
It is how hate and ****** are brought to existence
And chivalry is dead

Chivalry is dead
This I was taught at age eight
While sitting at my poorly organized desk in the third grade
Still believing cooties were being bred in the boys around me
The death of chivalry was not hard to fathom
Chivalry is dead
When we were young
Listening to the stories of old maids
Recounting tales of bitter divorce
In between addition problems
Making sure no one saw us counting on our fingers
Chivalry is dead
We thought
But what was it anyway?
