Minimise distraction
Maximise intention.

Minimise commodity fetishism
Maximise giving out love.

Love people, use things.
The opposite never works.

Mom
Dad
I didn't grew up
To be who
You want me to be.

How ironic.

For your approval
I had to conceal
My truth
With pretension

When you
Taught me
To never
Tell a lie.

I'm not taking the painkillers.

My body is weak
Aching torso
Dry throat
Struggling for balance
With this dizziness.

The pain is not chronic
It's not life-threatening
So I shall endure the pain
It makes me feel alive.

Medicine is for the betrayer
Who doesn't trust their own army
In their body.

Is it poetry,
Or is it a clickbait?
Poetry is evolving with the economy of attention in today's digital age. With images and advertisement bombarding us from every corner of the media content that we consume, our attention span is getting shorter as we know it. Lengthy literature are becoming less favourable. The discourses  that are discussed in a book, are now preferably obtained from a shorter article on the internet. Poetry as I observed, seems to be riding on the same trend.

My entire life was structured
around a belief system
Until the day I'm in a foreign land
Where familiar faces and cultures
No longer clenched me to
My identity.

Didn't know where to go
How to live
I'm a lonely alien here
I'm lost
Cultural shock they warned me.

I had to start from scratch
To recreate myself
The meanings of life
I held on from my parents
I let go.

From Stoicism
To Existentialism
I tried to comprehend our existence
Only to a realization
That there is no meaning
Life is absurd.

For my recklessness
I'm lying in a bed of regrets
Money is spent
Emotion is drained
And so time went.

Although I must acknowledge
The beauty of it
Its spontaneity
Driven by passion with levity
Led me to an unexpected love
A wonderful dream.

This is the spirit of youth
The unfazed jolt
Into the unknown
Though with rue
As a person I grew
With a purpose anew.
