In my world there is a gem...
On which there are two
predominant facets.
It has never been just me,
or just you...
It is us...
Marooned on a little cast off islet.

If I could take just one sip
from the fount of transitory courage,
I'd take the leap
into waters deep.
So I could pave the route
for our safe passage.

To freedom and love...
Without restrictions or restraint.
If only we could...
We'd harness from the infinite palette above
and with it,
boundless magic
we would paint.

We must be
             bypassing
    each other
         along these
streets our
       eyes locked
      to our phones
     smiling to
the humour in
someone's
   consolation about
being single
           on their
  Facebook status
    otherwise
        what
            explains this
               delay in
               our encounter?

Your kindness
a sunflower
whose many seeds
sustain the sparrow's
song of joy
and rest assured
do gorgeously
germinate in
thin-hulled souls
the soil is ripe
love yearns
to be reborn.
For certain people, loving kindness is as easy as breathing. Thank you for being such a one, paul SN.

Till you can’t walk
Till you are sore,
Yet still smiling
from the thrilling experience,
Till you are sweating pleasure
from every pore.
Till your breath murmurs
my first name with every inhale
Till my voice is the only sound
your ears need to hear.

i would
rest my head on your breast
and listen
Enjoy the sweet tunes composed by
every noted word you harmonize

Tales of your life stories before they became entwined with mine
Narratives about your dreams
About who breaks your glassy heart
And what tickles your eye-ducts
into opening a flood of tears.

an inner world of wishes
she deserves beautiful things,
The Nubian Queen,
Sunflower Child.

inspired and dedicated to my muse - a banquet of beauty, a model of black excellence and a colourful character and a bubbly spirit. God bless her soul.

Laugh like you've never known sadness,
Smile genuinely like you don't know how to frown,
Love like you've never been hurt,
Sing like noones listening,
Dance like you're the only one with eyes to see your moves,
Pray like the first time you did when you knew of your Saviour,
Believe and have faith, like a young child.
Life  is  short .

Grey skies and low hanging clouds make some people blue, but I see fun where they see gloom. If no rain ever came, then we couldn't splash in puddles. If it never got cold, then we would not know about ice or ice cream. If the ground never got wet, then we couldn't make mud pies. If there were no clouds, then we couldn't see funny shapes in them. If no water fell to the earth, then we would not have flowers after the spring showers. So though the day might be cloudy and overcast, there is a lot to be said for a rainy day.

The Sun is an old friend
back from her travels

She speaks silently of spring
and the coming vast summer

Her command of the sky
brings birds home from migration

And her warmth seeps through
to bones frigid with winter.

A poet dies not when he looses the will to live
But when he looses the will to write

He is a bystander, following you along your path, observing your every turn, waiting to swoop in at any given moment

He is as the mist at dusk, encircling then dispersing, constantly changing his notions

He unveils himself from time to time, dropping mixed emotions over those who see him, having the power to pull people together or rip them apart

Should we fear and ridicule him, for all he brings is darkness and despair?

No, for he is our caretaker, our guardian angel, our friend

Since he travels in darkness, the sparkling brilliance of light floods our lives, surrounding us with positivity and enchantment

He teaches us how to love endlessly, forgive ceaselessly, and live gratefully.

The sweetness of thy words lay not in thine mouth
but in thine mind

The beauty of moving thine body lay not in thine walking
but in thine heart

The utmost pure love thou hath shown lay not in thine caring nor loving
but in thine precious hidden soul

That’s why loving thee is not a day’s work
but a labour that lasts a life long
and encapsulates life beyond eternity....

how do I write about the beauty of the world
when barefoot people pass before my window
in search of shelter

how do I share my pleasure of the birds' sweet song at dawn
when I see faces etched with panic
from the deafening blast of bombs

how to rejoice in love and friendship
when meeting people who could barely save their lives
after burying their loved ones

how can I write with passion of the kindness of the human heart
when I see thousands fleeing from the ruins of their homes
only to face police   walls   barbed wire

true words are hard to find
as said a poet of an older war

when it is a lie to speak
    a lie to keep silent

not easy
The poet from which my last two lines come: John Balaban, Vietnam War veteran:
“A poet had better keep his mouth shut,” he writes in “Saying Good-by to Mr. and Mrs. My, Saigon, 1972”:
unless he’s found words to comfort and teach.
Today, comfort and teaching themselves deceive
and it takes cruelty to make any friends
when it is a lie to speak, a lie to keep silent.

I love you are words
That are spoken to often.
Tell me not; show me!

Born
When I tell my children
My love story

It should have
tension, drama and action

And my heart
should be filled with romance
