Ryan Dement
tragedy,
like joy,
is built
in tiny
parts,

you can never
track
just how
it happened.

life is full of swallow hazards,
plastic pieces,
straight lines,
sharp edges.
I want to swim
In a ocean
That tastes
Like him.

Her chaos is a serenade.
Drawing me even closer
Making me fall a little deeper
A masterpiece only some appreciate
A melody only some admire.
She says it’s messy
but I still pay attention
to every position
of every single note
in every single line.

i never used to smoke
but since you left,
it’s the only time i can seem to breathe

My heart is made of stars

They seem so small watched from the earth
But they are big
-
Living in the universe

Knowing where their place is
and when it’s time to come down to earth

Our heart is full of joy
Full of sparkle
Full of lightness

My heart is made of stars
-
What about yours?

The years layered upon him
And compacted into dense sediment
The bygone years of all the people he has been
He showing only his smooth, stone exterior
Deceiving the girl he wanted
Never disclosing the years beneath
He wanted to just swallow her up in another layer of himself

I don't want to go
to heaven.
I just want to see
the sunset
reflect in your eyes
one last time.

The taste of her lips;
         brings me to my knees,
where I melt her in my mouth,
         not my hands.
