SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series created by marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. The series chronicles the adventures and endeavors of the title character and his various friends in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom. The series' popularity has made it a media franchise, as well as Nickelodeon network's highest rated show, and the most distributed property of MTV Networks. The media franchise has generated $8 billion in merchandising revenue for Nickelodeon.
Many of the ideas for the series originated in an unpublished, educational comic book titled The Intertidal Zone, which Hillenburg created in the mid-1980s. He began developing SpongeBob SquarePants into a television series in 1996 upon the cancellation of Rocko's Modern Life, and turned to Tom Kenny, who had worked with him on that series, to voice the titular character. SpongeBob was originally to be named SpongeBoy, and the series was to be called SpongeBoy Ahoy!, but these were changed, as the name was already trademarked.
The series was previewed on Nickelodeon in the United States on May 1, 1999, following the television airing of the 1999 Kids' Choice Awards, and officially premiered on July 17, 1999. It has received worldwide critical acclaim since its premiere and gained enormous popularity by its second season. The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, a feature-length film adaptation, was released in theaters on November 19, 2004, and a sequel is currently in production, with a projected release date of February 13, 2015. On July 21, 2012, the series was renewed and aired its ninth season, beginning with the episode "Extreme Spots".[2][3]
Despite its widespread popularity, the series has been involved in several public controversies, including one centered around speculation over SpongeBob SquarePants' intended ****** orientation. The series has been nominated for a variety of different awards, including 17 Annie Awards (with six wins), 17 Golden Reel Awards (with eight wins), 15 Emmy Awards (with one win), 13 Kids' Choice Awards (with 12 wins), and four BAFTA Children's Awards (with two wins). In 2011, a newly described species of mushroom, Spongiforma squarepantsii, was named after the cartoon's title character.

Drums of Autumn tell us, grandmother,
what did they mean?
Did you ever get the Lincoln cane? Did you cry?
Kenny, I'as a orphan. I never knew.
---That happened, Kenny was my name.
I looked past the rim,
there was the Corn Mother,
I think that's what I coulda seen,
but then it's only Grandma, with a grin.
Kenneth means know, Grandma said, I gave you that name.
kenning handy, a knower, by God,
not handsome in that vain way they have today,
handy,
winsome in puzzles 'n' riddles 'n' such
Kokopelli's play mate, some day.
Mistooken words rot,
if they lie, idle, in the dust
meaning
nothing ever. I shall not want,
I was taught a mistooken truth,
I took it,
gript it tight,
Get a job. Live with some class, join
a club that
takes your kind. Some churches used to
use
the Rotary test, if you could pass that test
you could eat,
after the message at the mission.
true? fair? goodwill? wait
if the first test is failed, what matters?
fair good will benes d'vitas?
from the treaty bound liars who called my grand
mothers savages, all of them,
right by
right of conquest. their treaty verified it to me,
then they gave me blankets,
General Leonardwood,
nope, Lord Jeff Amherst did that, then we died.
Read the treaty, 1763, small print. Blankets.
From the small pox ward, went unsaid.
That was just,
after
the French and Indian war, where the father of
the force that claims world-wide military
superiority
sufficient unto the evil of today,
George, the man on the horse,
surveyor for the future,
fought injuns,
so the king could sell their measured land to freed slaves,
thus making the mortgage chain, so popular today.
Build a casino, get rich quick, it's in the treaty,
lotsajobs,
busboy, bus driver, maid, Sioux chef and so
many, many more.
Grandma, in my vision, turned and walked
into the desert.
I took her word.
Brushed the dust and breathed it in.
Then I spit against the wind,
winked at you and rode my wind away.
Free is easy, if you can ride on wind.

1.
outside;
the sky is dark blue
fading into black shadow
behind the Sequim Safeway.
raindrops are illuminated
momentarily in the half-light
lingering below the light pole
that rises above the window-line
2.
Some dance mix
of a Kenny G. song
echoes through the building
landing even here,
in this room inside a room.
the abandoned cup
of mountain dew
shakes suddenly and spills
on the Clallam county classified page
on top of the toilet paper holder.
3.
Ten steps
covers the empty monster can
held in dry hands
in a fine layer of dew.
headlights reveal
an ever-present purple tint
to the cloudless sky,
covered only slightly
by the exhaust
which dissipates quickly
in the warmer than usual
humid air.
4.
Twenty nine miles-
the lights of the city soon disappear
and only the houses with porch lights
even seek to confirm their existence.
fog covers the asphalt
halfway back,
the world twists at every turn,
bad eyes and old age to blame.
5.
Fifteen minutes later;
rain covered doors slam
and soon after, so does another door.
but the rain is not forgotten-
it lingers in dry pathways on the skin,
tasting less organic,
but comforting just as much

Default! Default! parties from the left cried!
But the people said no, they still had their pride
They viewed these parties with some skepticism,
and tackled the problem with true stoicism
There were no riots, no violent demonstrations,
as was evident in many other debt ridden nations
We simply put our heads down and got on with the task,
answering all of the questions the world had to ask
And now through our efforts things seem to have improved,
with a deal on the promissory note having just been approved
We still owe the money but we have more years to pay,
we can only hope our grandchildren will pay it off one day
There are green shoots of recovery, all is not lost
We learned a valuable lesson, though at a significant cost
We have done well though we cannot let down our guard
A sentiment echoed recently by one Christine Lagarde
We cannot get carried away with president Obama’s praise
For Enda Kenny on Paddy’s day, of all the days!
though lauded in Europe as a good example to everyone
we must not relax, there is a lot more to be done
But after all the cost cutting, redundancies, pay cuts,
all we get from Europe now is more ifs and buts
And I know this is wrong before I’ve even said it;
but for all of our hard work, would Europe not give us some credit?

Reached in and picked a winner
from your box of stock phrases.
Finding ways
to roll zero on 2d6.
You fuckin' missed
**** the bed!"
I guess you're no Kenny Rogers.
Longer losing streaks familiar
to the wisdom of a betting man.
"Carpe Diem" on your calf,
laugh your way to the bank.
But put a stutter on your chuckle
'til the day they seize your wages.
If it "happens for a reason,"
fold your cards and hold your tongue in.
Hold your tongue and
clamp your teeth.
"What it is is what it is."
That's a "tautology."
They taught me that one in college,
when I took critical theory!
If you seek an explanation,
you're just critically faulting
on your dice rolls
and your debts.
Reached in and hit the bottom
of your box of stock phrases.
Finding ways
to keep afloat on empty words.
You fuckin' missed.
"Feeling blessed?"
Turns out you're no Kenny Rogers.
Longer losing streaks familiar
to the wisdom of a betting man.

She drove from one coast to the other
with her contemptible co-Captain, Kenny.
One time in Colorado,
she saw Bambi looking for
berries in the dark
on a concrete highway-
stupid thing-
and all of a sudden
she felt a bump in the road
and kept ******* driving!
Kenny was passed out drunk on ***
in the cab of the ship
like the piece of slimy ****
he is,
and he didn't want to stop until
he could find some more heroine
by God.
A few days later at some half-star hotel
they smelled something rotten under
the front of their tag-teamed semi
and there was Bambi
with two x's for eyes
and his tongue sticking out
like the joke he became
to two pirates looking for
treasure, or pills and tequila
in this case.

King Kenny,
Like God on Earth upon mat...
Rising sun in his eyes for rainless morning,
And superkick party, catered and cleaned.
Technician of great finesse,
Not living off technicality,
We pay thanks to our savior
For handing out the wrath.

Shoulda gone sooner,
Mighta helped, he said, it's going to all come down,
ground up. All the concrete and asphalt and plastic,
maybe
even leave a little of that won't hurt, could help
build randomness back in the the path of least resistance
But no bigger than the biggest pieces left at Jerusalem,
fill all the holes.
that was a stutter, that double the there, 3 lines up,
I stutter when I write,
not as bad as
some
But I pretty much tamed spelchek when I renamed her.
She likes being thought of as Spelchek, my servant,
as opposed to evil Spellchick who bewitched by keys,
made my tittalk sound plumb dumb.
So Spelchek respects some of my stutters as honest
ensamples of thinking
wait. What am I saying
Selah
Like the psalmist, right? The the thing is
oddly broken lines are part of the meandering
mode of meaning
being
found under rocks, aha
Sisyphus, we're in your book!, Too cool!
Happy whatever, Jah, you, too.
Back to Cousin Kenny, who went to inspect the city,
seeking some good he might do.
He laughed when he got back,
'said maybe we can find them guys that
let on they was able to levitate the Pentagon,
back then, you know, they was steeped in lies,
and they loved to tell 'em, loved to lie,
prospero, ever **** one
prosperous liars. But, now, their old age,
they coulda stopped believin' some big lies
by now.
Who would know? Any way, the cities, as built,
must be un built,
NOT DESTROYED, those are the good hard labour
of good people, doing the best with what they had,
we take apart mistakes, we destroy lies.
Angelic beings, aliens, without papers, if you
would give us half a chance we could show you
what a good idea possessed human can do…
Trust me,
don' laugh
Close your eyes
How would this world look
if it were designed
for life,
and that, more abundantly.
An idea, not a dogma. Life, have it…
how? Lest, now, now is living, and we can do it better
if we find a reason to hope,
which was why cousin kenny went to the city,
in the first place.

I remember so much that I wish I could forget.
This is a poem about Psalm 23 choked out through tears.
This is a poem about astro vans and
tractor lawn mowers and
driveway car washes and
small garden spaces and
digger wasps and
three wolves and a moon.
This is about the Backstreet Boys and
Def Leppard and
Kenny Chesney.
“Dreams” by The Cranberries.
About waterparks and
swim lessons and
the smell of chlorine.
Fresh cut grass. Bonfire smoke permeating through the house.
Grey diamond tiles on white linoleum.
Hands clenched down on washcloths.
Muddled. It’s all so muddled. Stuck beneath
brain matter and cerebrospinal fluid and
down, down, down beneath the lake.
How can I dig it out while also digging it down deeper?
I want to forget it all. No memory, no pain, no ******* problem.
Goldfish life: a pipedream.

Today left me with questions
Some pretty confusing questions
I thought a lot today
Tried to answer a lot today
I woke up today
In a good feeling way
I was early
Earlier than my parents
Which doesn't happen often
I felt good today
I laughed today
A lot
With the people I don't normally talk to
I worked today
Hard
And well
And I kept trying
I played today
Outside
In the park
With my friends
With
Kenny
Langston
Nelson
Emma
Phoebe
And I thanked them
Just now
For being such awesome people
And such great friends
I laughed today
With everyone
At everyone
I cursed today
More than usual
It felt good
And it was unexpected
I rocked today
And I'm guessing that'll happen again tomorrow
And the next day
And I talked today
And read today
I felt today.

The night that I first saw you
When our eyes had barely met
I knew that I would love you
I just hadn't told you yet
I was held fast by your humour
It was a night not to forget
I knew that I would love you
I just hadn't told you yet
Kenny Chesney sang a song about
How You had him at Hello
He hadn't even met you
Just how was he to know
We talked away for hours
At the end I was caught inside your net
I knew that I would love you
I just hadn't told you yet
You chased me 'till I caught you
I'm so happy that we met
I knew that I would love you
I just hadn't told you yet
Kenny Chesney sang a song about
How You had him at Hello
He hadn't even met you
Just how was he to know
Fifteen years we've been together
And now there's something you should know
Like Kenny Chesney said before
You had me at Hello .
Love ya baby. 15 years and many more to come.

True love never gives up
Love never runs out or ends
Love holds you close when life knocked you down
Love fills the soul with hope
Love doesn’t look for others but only one
Love can break the heart but make you stronger and see that the path still goes on
If this love is dream why let go

First job really bit...
worked so hard to be a hit
Fast forward...

Ginger hit a great old flint
Split in two his *****
Took it to the smithy
Had it back inside a day
In the twenty acres
Kenny bust the plough
Let the smithy have a look
He'll fix it up somehow
Big old mare she cast a shoe
Better do all four
Hinge has broken on the gate
Latch needs mending on the door
Show him what needs fixing
He can sort it out
Heat it up in the fire
Give it a good old clout
The smithy's long been dead of course
The forge has long been closed
Just the house name on a slate
To tell of days of old

I came along to a road block on route 33
there was no traffic so I just rode my electric bike on the shoulder
I saw a lot of debris and blood on the road
the cops weren't paying attention, so I went closer
It appeared to be what was left of a man
or a bunch of ground meat with what appeared to be a whole eyeball
with an actual eyebrow
and a shoe
to me, it looked like a left eye
police came running at me and had their hands in their weapons yelling at me to get back
I panicked a little and about rode right through the meaty matter
I made it just a few meters away before I heard them closing in
I got on the ground
the one with a voice yelled at me
he said something about human remains
I started laughing so diabolically that the voice stopped
I'm thinking to myself...
"and I can't go around?"
I laughed continuously and uncontrollably for a good 10 minutes
I must have totally lost my mind this time
I hope so...
I hope so
when I got home later that day, someone told me that they found Kenny dead today
in the middle of route 33
I started snickering...
I broke out into a cackle
I laughed so hard, for so long, that it became very painful
I couldn't stop
my best friend had went through something dreadful
I still say that it didn't look like his eyeball and left eyebrow
then again
who am I to say what another man's eyeball and left brow would look like
on top of a pile of meat and blood..
and one shoe
Bahahaha
ouch
oh the agony!
this is serious
this is not sweet insanity

If I met you 20 years ago
I would not even lay my eyes on you
But I could
Picture the younger you with me
Easily
I frown on
Your 80's acid shirt, Kenny G hair
But I can still trace the image of you between your brows
Unswerving eyes and lips
If I met you 20 years ago
You would had fallen for me
I am so sure, because your eyes tell me

Tangled up in the sheets man that was fun.
Yeah id stick around my darlin.
But the train's a waiting and so I gotta run.
Tommy and Phil will be at the dinner waiting with ready ear.
***** the coffee darlin.
I preffer a smoke and a beer.
The waitress sat staring at me as I sat lost
without a clue.
She said thought you had to leave town.
memories get hazy but she reminded me with a swift
kick oh **** darlin was that you?
Sometmes it's not so easy to recall.
Precious memories shared.
In a nightclubs bathroom stall.
Hey it was a perfect moment amougnst many.
Sure I recall your name.
It's Rebecca Sandy okay I wouldnt have guessed Kenny.
Sometimes it"s awkward hitting on a chick only to
have her reply but I thought we were threw.
Maybe i should lay off the *****
Cause im really getting tired of asking
was that you?
