A naked tree in winter
my bones are always bare
I reach inside this
tree crown ribcage
pull my insides out
and press them on this page
I make a lovely composition
of red and superstition
I don't care
about how ***** it gets
I dare
you
Let me share
with you
You can do no wrong
Watch me
as I pretend it's been you
who touched these pages
all along

He will always be that boy
but he will never be that man for me.

They asked me
''How did you get over him?''
''How did you get over him so quickly?"
I smiled and I laughed
A crazy laugh
I cried and I laughed
A silent cry
A crazy laugh
I told them
"I tricked my heart into believing that I didn't  need him."
The brain knows the truth, the heart is a sucker for love songs.
you
the way it always starts,
conversations late at night to midnight and beyond,
never wishing for them to end, could they last for eternity?
but you always know,
you always know that the good things don’t last- months or years?
it will come crashing down
because love is not easy
love is not endless-
‘You’ will not last forever.

If there was one word
One word, isolated by itself
That I cannot stand above all others
It would have to be "Okay"
I despise "Okay"
"Okay"
Is how your millionth day at work went
"Okay"
Is off-brand raisin bran
"Okay"
Is how you say life is going
When you don't want to admit you spend
Every second of it
Wanting to die

"Okay"
Is packed to the brim with
Hidden implications
Like a treasure chest
Filled with bottles
With little subliminal hatreds
Written on tiny slips of paper
Passively aggressively pushed inside
To discover later
As I pull out a treasure map
And try to decipher
Where I went wrong

"Okay"
Is a one word dismissal
That feels like an essay a thousand pages long
"Okay"
Is a poison dripping with disinterest
When I dared to share with you
Something I thought might make you smile
"Okay"
Is like trying to talk to a wall
While watching the paint on it dry
"Okay"
Takes two seconds to write
Yet I waited days
For that dreaded word
To grace my notifications
"Okay"
Should be used sparingly
As if each time you send it
You **** the receiver just a little bit
"Okay"
Should not be said so often that
I know what you're about to say
Like I saw it in a crystal ball
"Okay"
Is not looking up from your phone
When I tell you about my day
"Okay"
Is not the proper response
To "I love you"

They say that the opposite of love isn't hatred
It's indifference
And I can't think of a response
More indifferent to pouring out
My heart into your hands
Than "Okay"
At least the last thing you said to me
Before we parted ways
Showed that you cared
At least a little bit
"I hate you"
Stung less
Than the thousands of times
Over our countless conversations
You responded
"Okay"
Okay?

Miss you, you
are my sunlight
the rays of unlimited warmth
now gone cold
as my long hair grays
becoming vast storm clouds
waiting for the coldness,
to take over
So we are reunited,
once again
my phone rests quietly
by my side as i wait
checking for a notification
that i have missed a call
or am receiving a loud ring
from the boy that is on my mind
man i cannot forget your face

i wait each day & night
it has been quite a while
since you have called my name

i wonder if you have forgotten
or misplaced my information
because to this day i am still
waiting for just one ring
It pains me to see you so far away,
Like pots in a kiln you're formed from the clay,
You're shaped & reworked until you're not the same,
Transformed completely and fixed in the flame.

Now I feel nothing you're no different from dust,
All of us changed it eroded our trust,
Equal parts blame on either of us,
Toxic for each other do we have it sussed.

We turned from each other won't turn on each other,
Stronger together we learn from each other,
But better apart as we lean on each other,
We're breaking our hearts we're mean to each other.

Life doesn't change it just trades our trials,
People don't learn and lovers become rivals,
Age doesn't teach you can journey for miles,
A broken mosaic we're made up of tiles.
