I am by no means omnipotent,
So the meta-thoughts I have
About the couples on this day
Are quite biased.

I have to wonder
What these people are thinking
When vigorously presenting their love
Without even a shred of conscience
Or shame.
It got repetitive within a heartbeat (ha... ha... ha...). And after being too repetitive, it brought itself into my bitter contempt. Jealousy is powerful...

I’m caught up in this air,
Smelling of chocolates...
And human hearts.
Now I can only think
Of the one that stole mine,
And why I gave up so soon.

Maybe things were meant to be,
And eye-to-eye’s what we truly see.
Christ... before this poem I had written 232 poems, most of which were written since I joined in the end of November. Reminds me of the RS-232 serial connection for managing a network device.

Shall I compare thee to the butterfly,
Thou hast more beauty, more strength, and more grace.
Rough winds do blow paper wings toward the sky,
And an icy chill doest berate h’r face.

The weight of h’r first original form:
But a caterpillar, she did abhor,
Brings onto h’r face a look so forlorn
Alas! One day she proclaimed she would soar!

With wings so frail, she emerged from her sleep,
With a new body, h’r soul couldst keepeth
To findeth a love so quaint and so deep,
Upon my gaze, thee did take hence mine breath.

I hath’t such adoration for thy soul,
For t’ is mine weak heart, yond hath’t quickly stole.
My rendition of Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18. Written for my love for Valentine’s Day.

Silently bearing its teeth,
My emotions pounce onto me.
Nothing’s to happen,
But the morrow is unnerving.
My mind sprouts fantasies
Like the spring grows dandelions.
Soon the flowers change
And I’ll whisp away with the wind.
Soon the bees will come
And sting my body numb.
Ugh, my mind outruns my rational thought every time. I reflect on how she was nice to me today, but she’s just nice, and I thought I didn’t like her like this anymore.

I put my faith in pinky promises
and astrology apps.
It isn’t our mistakes that first come to mind
when I think of us,
Though they certainly do.
Instead, I remember the French cafe
From where I can no longer bring myself
to buy hot chocolate.
Instead, I remember curling up in a plastic chair,
feeding two quarters to a payphone
dropped them more than once
in my excitement for ten minutes of your time.
From Winter Beach Weddings to
Three months of “missing my calls”
I’m not quite sure how we got here.
High school rock music shook my skull.
I thought my kneecaps would pop off
and leave me sprawled on the auditorium floor.
Her angelic voice made my ears bleed.
A colossal, though unintentional, “*******”.
First heartbreaks are like golden retriever puppies:
They contain infinite stores of energy that somehow manage
to refill themselves after only a few hours’ rest.
Their blonde hair is everywhere.
You are everywhere.
We were like George and Lennie:
“clinging together in the face of loneliness and alienation”.
It was never going to end well.
And I could write (have written)
so many bitter, hurt, apologetic heartbreak poems
a million stanzas that are essentially
paraphrased Waterparks lyrics.
But none of this will change the fact
that I likely won’t receive an Orange-Crush soda
on Valentine’s Day.
In honor of Valentine's Day, this is a compilation of some of my favorite lines from breakup poems I have written.

For my sons and their wives.
For my friends and their wives
For my friends and their husbands.
May no challenge in life be more important
Than the bond of your true love.
May you live in kindness.
May you live in love.
May your hearts dance in eternal joy.
Forever and ever in Love.
No one needs to stand in the way of a train. If abuse is happening and your loved one will not seek help. It is time for a tough decision. Sometimes tough decisions help to bring change before a possible divorce or even afterwards. The offending partner may decide to seek help, because they have lost someone they love. Others, may not choose to change. We all have agency. This post is for couples who wish to keep their love alive and do all that they can to grow in respect, love, and honor for each other. There are times when marriage gets tough and it is by determination to work it out that a marriage survives. It is by wanting the best for each other as individuals and as a couple, together, that matters. If this determination is not there, it is not eternal.

various lovers stood
at my doorstep in pure wrath
like red clover mites,
embers, hurdles in my path

neglecting them, i drive
through such a familiar route
i pick up the one i love,
need, can't live without:

earl grey tea.
