How could you ever understand
The pain that you inflicted upon me
The dreams you left me with
The rerunning of shared moments

You walked away with a smile
While I stayed in the same place, empty
Stayed in the same feelings, hopes
Stuck in place, wondering why

You laughed, you soared, you ran
While I am paralyzed, trapped, clipped
Weighed down by the memories and emotions
You gave it back to me when you were done

You made new friends, new memories
I withdrew from mine, from myself
I hit replay every hour, every day
Holding what was left in vain

You looked forward, head held high
Mine dropped low, looking back
I called you my everything
You called me a steppingstone

How could you ever understand
When you can't even empathize
How could I ever understand
When I can't even let go

The stars cascade into their myriad shapes,
Connecting the dots across the vast expanse.
In the hopes of finding you within an upward glance,
I search for you.
But beneath me lies the dirt and the ******,
And remnants of you were where you once stood.
Your footprints have been carried off onto the sands,
And I am drowning in the waters like the somber of tears.
I will drink from you every drop until the memories tear me apart.
Another inspired by the ole journal, the more I reflect on this time period the more i realize how messed up this one relationship made me for so long...it truly was dark times.
They say there's no thing as true love,
Humans are also fondly known to lie,
I just can't believe it,
Not after knowing you.

I can't say it enough times,
I need something more to really let you know,
I yearn for you,
You are a necessity.

Even when times get dark,
We light each other up,
Even when they plant seeds of doubt,
We sprout even brighter than before.

We grow, we love,
We tire, we sleep,
We rest, we're restless.
I think, I think of you.

I should've counted the days
When you were here
Now I count every second
That you're not here

I've gone the distance
So much has changed
But I just can't turn back time
Can't rewind the clock
or bring back what was mine
Time has changed and things have faded
Those times really underrated
But I can't go back
I can't rewind
All I can do is remember
Before the memories fade with time
Then they will go
Like sand in the glass
One speck lost in the sea
Time to turn and start a new
Before The hourglass breaks
And we lose all the memories

My heart sometimes thumps in a normal pace.
Then confuses itself and loses rhythm.
My chest flutters, my breathing shutters
But I keep living.

What does it mean to exist?
Well quite literally, that your heart persists.

Between the beats, there's a moment of quiet.
Stillness that precedes another thump
or serves as an epilogue to the last one.

I am painfully aware of my heartbeat.
So much that it hurts.
I don't want exercise to speed it up and use up my remaining beats
Nor alcohol to plummet it to a state where it beats no more.

But then I lay in bed at night and listen to the soft thumps in my chest.
And it reminds me of its purpose.
Whether or not it unexpectedly stops one day
or beats till it can't beat any more

I'll do my best to love and nurture this erratic, fickle heart of mine.
Arrythmias are annoying.

Time has been unforgiving
to my mortal wounds.
My soul lay exposed
beneath a bone white moon.
Contemplation at the day's end.
Is time a formidable opponent
or a faithful friend?
When will it be our time?
Will a ladder to eternity
be there to climb?
Who will read my final rhyme?
We waste our days,
in a grossly over thought maze.
You may cherish a memory
Were you even present or
did your attention flee?
We are told the now
is where happiness resides
The abysmal past
is our usual alibi.
In relentless pursuit
of the elusive why.
Be present before you erode
and die.

Tick-tock, tick-tock, the hands sweep, slow and grand,
Echoes in brass, the hourglass of time,
Each second a sonnet, each minute a memory,
A pendulum sways with the weight of all things,
A whispered sigh, the rhythm of fate.

Tick-tick, tick-tick, the seconds fly,
A thousand moments, one fleeting chime,
The wood creaks softly, a song to the past,
Time, both heavy and light, spins ever last.

Tick-tick, tick-tick, a muted hum,
The dance of the hands, a battle won,
Through the quiet of night, and the light of day,
We march to the beat, come what may.

Tick, tick, a whisper,
A pulse, a pause,
We chase after moments,
Only to lose them.

Tick.

        Tock.

Tick…

Streetlights through our silhouettes like crashing waves.
Witnessing the shrinking night beside each other.
All the things we could discuss,
but the ecstasy of stillness subdue us.

It's like we're stuck together
between reverie and reality.

As I look at you, I wish my next breath is my last,
so I won't have to surrender my gaze to the past,
so I can escape the transience.
I wish the time stretched, turning this night endless.
