It happened in a hurry
At a joyous wedding party.
I didn’t know who he was
Just that he was hearty
And tall and very hot.
I was jealous of her
And the hot man she’d got.

The bride was not a friend,
But the friend of a friend.
I was the plus one that day
And I thought that was the end.
I’d watch the ceremony and
I’d go and smile and mingle.
It always makes me antsy
To do weddings when I’m single.

But, I sit and chat and smile
Wish them both the very best.
I do this quietly and quickly
Not being close like the rest.
So, when I went to the restroom
And the groom grabbed me
And laid a deep long kiss
I returned the favor gladly.

I usually don’t ***** with married
But this was a great big surprise
To get kissed by a tall hunk
With hot burning lust in his eyes.
I have no idea what was up
With the bride's new Mister
But I can testify for absolute sure
He was one hella righteous kisser!

The sun was furious,
It was scorching hot,
I hobbled along the sidewalk with my heavy school bag.
I was dripping with sweat,
At last I reached home,
I threw my bag on the landing
and headed to the kitchen.
Man, I was thirsty,
I always had juices or sodas,
I opened the freezer,
A lonely icy can of coca-cola stood there,
It winked at me,
With arms stretched it cajoled,
"Take me buddy, guzzle me in one go",
Mum was in the kitchen peeling potatoes,
I looked at her,
Her look was blank.
I grabbed the coke, icy in my hands,
Cool,Cool coke, ah !At last,
I lifted the tin to have a sip,
With lightning speed mum stood up,
She snatched the can from my hands,
I gasped and stared at her,
With a cute,loving smile,
She handed me a glass of  water from the JUG.
"Come on son! Today SURPRISE YOUR LIVER.

Startled at the turn of twelve
Not any other time
Her cultured tones sound so amazed
Before the expected chime

What is it that's shocked her so
Whatever could be the matter
Is it the echo of some past time
Or some rival chronometer

At the third stroke she'll be oh so precise
And disclose the appointed hour
She'll watch each minute slowly disappear
My most reliable of voyeurs.
The UK talking clock is a wonderful companion.  She always sounded surprised at 'twelve o'clock precisely'

I wish there was more
I wish surprise was at my door

I want to see everything
If I could I would sing

And no one could stop me
I'd be totally free

If only there was more
If I had a little more in store
I get bored too easily. Routines will be the death of me :}

You’re not even.

You’re not the greatest dancer, but I would love to dance with you.
You’re not the greatest singer, but we are so in tune.
You’re not a model or designer, but I love your style.
You’re not the funniest, but you do make me smile.

You’re sometimes irritating, but I don’t mind.
You’re doing my head in!  By always being so right.
You’re not what I expected, but you are a pleasant surprise.
You’re not what I had imagined, because I never aimed so high.

You’re expecting so much from me, that you inspire me to do more.
You’re crying again, but to me you have never looked more beautiful.
You’re worrying about everything, as you put my mind at ease.
You’re not even a ten out of ten, because you are an eleven to me.

You love some music I hate, but we love more of the same.
You’re the only one who can hurt me, but you cure all of my pain.
You’re not my usual type, but you are all that I need.
You’re mean sometimes, to other people, but never to me.

You’re not to everybody’s tastes, but you’re the only flavour I like.
You’re a nightmare to sleep next to!  But you can keep me up all night.
You’re a love worm, sinking under my skin;
You’re sulking again, so I get to give you more loving.

You’re putting me to shame, by taking the blame.
You’re an itch I cannot scratch, but I would never send you away.
You’re not the life of the party, but you fill up my life.
You’re laughing at something stupid I said,
But you make me happy, when I see your smile light up your eyes.

You’re not a writer or an artist, but you can see the real picture.
You’re not the woman I once know, because you made me forget her.
You’re taking over my life,
But I’ve been secure in your hands since the start.
You’re not the richest in the land, but you have a priceless heart.

You’re not wearing make-up,
Because you have a naturally beautiful face.
You leave me lost for words, with the funny things that you say.
You’re taking things to heart, but you keep me there with you happy;
You’re nothing like me, but who would want you to be?

You’re a hot rash that I shouldn’t touch, but I can’t leave you alone.
You’re a big bubble, but at least you know how to strike a pose.
You’re not an energy bunny, but I am happy to just chill with you.
You’re a moody blue, but still I love you.

You’re an annoyance, I can’t sleep without.
You’re so ****!  And you leave me without doubt.
You’re not my wife, but I hope you will be soon.
You’re not the first, maybe the last;
But you are the best…swoon…

Are you comparing me?
To the others before me
The others in your life
Ex-girlfriends, ex-lovers, ex-wife?
How did I do?
Did I surprise you?
When I showed another side
One you never knew
There are other sides of me I do hide
You need to peel them back layer by layer
There’s no better compliment
That you can pay her
Than by comparing her
To those in your past
But while you are accessing
I am guessing
That is why I asked
Who Are you comparing me to?

Not my question...it came from the words

Nobody expects.

The meaning of all that has come before,
Is merely the prelude to the story of my life.
If all we become is the thing nobody ever foresaw,
Then wouldn’t that be such a joyful surprise?

When nobody expects,
We can easily become more than they thought.
We become more then they know we are capable of,
When we teach ourselves how to impress them all.
Nobody expects it, so nobody can be prepared,
So the truth is their only answer to your words of despair.

Why can you not aid me in my darkest of times?
When all I need is a sunbeam to shine on my life.
Why can you not hear me call aloud to the butterflies of love?
They are gone now; they flew away from me.
All beauty has disappeared;
The birds are silent and the bees no longer buzz.

Stuck in my ways with no chance of taking my chance to dance,
Because I cannot dance, so I can never hold a hand.
Seen through eyes of contempt, because I refuse to attempt,
To smile and move towards you, through fear of neglect.

Ignored for being silent;
Resented for trying to speak.
Nobody expects anything,
So I will never disappoint you when you expect nothing of me.
