the horse racing to greet dawn
coated in sweat cold winter night
chases his riders desperation into the pathless night
chases his kindred's dream
to fly across the trackless predawn light
to be swifter than the wind
to be as effortless as the burning sun
to be as fast as dreams

pushing himself
he knows his rider must flee
knows the men with knives give chase
know he will perish with this rider
if he does not reach the dawn before them
if he does not ****** destiny from them that chase
pushing harder and harder
mile and another mile, another mile

his thoughts are for the lazy pasture
that he calls home
for the dance of sun and hooves
the cool cool water on a hot day
the sweet taste of fresh oat and meal
his mare beside him
the colt they had borne
his warm home so many miles behind

now he races along the
breaking edge of dawn
each stride his weariness ties to master him
yet his riders desperation pushes him onward
now he races against his mortal endurance
now he races against his dying breath

the men with knives seem immortal
they draw ever closer
the danger of them grasps at his every stride
the horror of them breaths on his tail
now he races against his mortal endurance

beyond any thought but to flee
as the dawn breaks, he slips into darkness
stumbling he fights his way forward
fighting to take another stride
rider and fear forgotten now
as he falls to the cold earth
but his spirit runs faster than wind
but his spirt swifter than dreams
his spirit free now
to a forever pasture of peace and sun
a horse will run itself to death for the love of its rider

There was a time I felt infinite.
Maybe it was the summer sun,
the laughter, or the innocence.
It could have been the quasi starry nights shared with the ocean.
Those times were momentary sips of grace.

Their beauty culminated into you.
You wouldn't know this,
but I never took the chance to tell you.
Time stood still,
You and I were infinite.

As I stand here under another quasi starry evening,
I no longer feel infinite.
But I can feel you linger,
In my mind, body, and soul.

Those stand still frames of infinity cannot be retraced,
But if that cannot be again my reality,
What would it take to get another sip of momentary grace?
This was inspired by the poem Rider Strong wrote for his character, Shawn Hunter, on Boy Meets World. I decided to make it about an ex-girlfriend of mine.

Star glass and light.  Emotion engine, dream machine. This is my Lightcycle!  With just thought I can catapult myself across the galaxy!  I remember home and the fields of blue bonnets and Indian paint brushes.  I remember looking up at the stars from Earth.  Wishing to one day see them.  But nothing is more beautiful than that blue star from afar. Earth shines and sings sapphire among the blackness we call space.   But as I enter my solar system I no longer see her.  I quickly thought stream home and find my planet is covered in a sick gray shadowy nebula.   Something is here and is trying to take away all the souls of the Earth!  I try and break through with my Lightcycle!  The star shell fills with my anger and despair!  Reds and tornados made of light dance within my Lightcycle! But to no avail the nebula seems to counter act my will!  I close my eyes as tears flow.  My lightcycle cries colors on the inside.  As I open my eyes I see a cloud within my lightcycle that is made of all colors!  It then clears as I see the harp with light strings the Dragon Secalos gave to me.  This was the dragon I escorted across the galaxy!  The harp then materialized in my hands and I played the melody of the star serpent!  I cannot begin to describe the melody to you.  It was like my dreams were playing for me.  From afar I could see a blue star growing and growing.  Only it was no blue star at all! It was the dragon Secalos!  He was even more massive than before. His wings shined Star Earth blue.  He must of been the size of our moon.  He looked to me with glowing blue eyes!  He spoke to me with his mind.   "  I will help you in thy darkest hour as you helped me."   The dragon then flew toward our sun and completely back in an instant. He then emitted a beam of light that was all colors toward the dark gray nebula.  The dark grey nebula filled with colors and seem to almost dissipate.  The beautiful majestic Earth seem to almost smile back at me. " Thank you serpent of the stars!" " Thank you rider of light. "

You know how the saying goes
"When the people are ready,
The Master will appear"
Well, I think the people are ready
For someone to emerge,
And save us from our fear

It's time for a new revolution
One that doesn't end in blood
But who will wear the mask?
And who will bear the sword?
And will they be the hero that we need?

Will you ride the black Andalusian?
Will you leave your mark across the land?
Will you guide us through the night,
Can you be the dawning light?
The time has come to make a stand

The New World hangs in the air
Swinging by a thread above an ocean of despair
And our fate rests in the hands of Father Time
And our own will to leave our children a better life

So will you ride the black Andalusian?
Will you leave your mark across the land?
Will you guide us through the night,
Can you be the dawning light?
The time has come to make a stand

Will you draw a line in the sand?
Overtly about social change. Covertly about Zorro.
I ride a ghastly, palish horse,
his hair is ghoulish, sharp and coarse;

We ride upon the night: a rave -
no sound about us beyond the brave,
and the sighing dying no god could save,
but reaped and stolen by the glaive.

And fear in hearts of men we stir,
when I give my palish horse the spur,
and soundless shrieks of still and void
greet the darkness, overjoyed.

A wild rider through the prairies of life, extending to far horizons,
in my veins the true spirit of intergalactic nomads, stardust,
from many past lives brims; it sets the tone of my enduring quest.
My  indefatigable steed, and me are one in our thoughts and heart.

Through her changing  hues and moods, nature speaks to me, inspires
drenched in moon beams, to the uplands we would  traverse,
then come the slopes descending to deep pits and dark hollows,
my prairie homestead, tucked away in that valley distant,to me
is a dream mysterious; dense solitude keeps it for me as a secret.

A miraculous herb, I found by chance, among the flora rich,
keeps thirst and hunger at bay, and the quest continues unhindered,
low hanging fat, white, clouds change the display in varied forms,
to regale us as we cross the badlands, that try to bog us down in vein.

Love caressed me at times, like gentle wind, once a whirlwind
made me lose bearing, with a thorn made a slash across my heart,
love is a sweet pain, but losing a beloved, a crusted ugly scar,
but the traveler is in a trance, still led by the pole star's lonely light,

The bows and arrows I destroyed after long  introspection,
herds of bison as I pass would notice, see me empty handed,
stand still as if in a guard of honor, to watch me pass with a smile
Still night, embellished by starlight, sung lullabies to us weary souls.
my steed and I go diving deep, hungrily in to the pool of sleep

**Sleep, wakefulness, day and night; all encased within a dream.
I, my steed and the lives the prairie embraces, and the galaxy  are one.
The journey itself, one comes to realize is the discovery...

I couldn't wait, I didn't know, you promised
something else, the moon shone there and I could hear
them moving all around, it burst my heart when
your horse galloped down.
NaPoWriMo #11 - Write a Sapphic poem

This is a short poem inspired by a charcoal depiction of The Highway from the poem written by Alfred Noyes. Written from the perspective of the landlords daughter.

Was waiting to be solitaire,
Would cease every possible chance.
Like my mind wished, I'd be
But heart still yearning for company.
Of that of a beast,or a beauty.
Who'd take me farthest on this land,
On the sacred shoulders of my country.

The hills,winds and barren land,
They all giving me one big hand.
Thumping across the roads,
I could hear the Banjo chords.
The beast I'd ride on,
Or the beauty who'd ride on me,
Was still a nostalgic dream.

Sink me in,deep in you
Be the beauty or the beast.
