Dead cities
Living souls
Gates keep within
As much as without
Robby Nov 2019
Those eyes are sad but they are strong
They’ve seen too many evil things
The horrible darkness from the souls of men
Unspeakable creatures of villainy

Mis ojos? Son triste pero son fuerte?

Si pero...

Those eyes are beautiful and pure
Those eyes are renewed from above
I miss those eyes gazing back at me
Piercing my armor and letting me be me again

Mis ojos? Son bonito y puro?

Si mi amor. Es verdad. Solamente creer.

on some days
I'm a piece of sandpaper -
rubbed and rubbed
until I'm raw and stinging,
until there's almost nothing left.

but there's a little corner
that doesn't sting,
that renews my hope,
that heals every part of me
until I'm whole again.

.
In autumn, leaves fall and here is elegy,
Dry are the woods upon their bareness.

In winter, snows creep as they blanket,
White is the sun as it is sailing on high.

In spring, a melting of blood streaming,
Carries new flesh, a green world comes.

In summer, is a light so still and calming,
All creatures sing as they sit on summit.

Weathered turf
Fights against the steel
Clean sharp spikes
Penetrating hard packed soil
Struggling to fight off
Dandelions and noxious crabgrass
Growing in greensward despite
A lack of much-needed rain

Renewal begins as
Aeration creates holes
Spaced apart ready to accept
Seed flung across the lawn
By the cranking of a flywheel
Beneath the canvas sack of kernels
Destine to become blades
Of new grown Kentucky bluegrass

Re-seeding, renewal
Essential for lawns
As well as all living beings
Which regenerate
physically, mentally and spiritually
to fight off
Scars and growths
That disfigure and destroy
Reseeded my lawn a couple of weeks ago and it looks like it is off to a good start.

as Spring renews life
your kind words written to me-
my joy is renewed

When I was a child, I had all these hopes and dreams.
I believed I was capable of anything.
But now as I'm older, the realization of the world around me finally sinks in.
Those fantasies and stories I once knew became sad tragedies that'll never be my life.
But something in my mind has shifted.
The color and brightness have once again come back into my existence.
Has the world always been so colorful?
It was the way you looked at me.
The look in your eyes sparked a feeling in me.
Almost as a renewal.
My inspiration came back.
And I just wanted to say...
thank you.

Grief is a room

It has no doors

No one can join you

For each of us has our own

You sit in the centre

On the hardest chair

Wondering how you will escape and join the world again

Leaving the sorrow behind

You take the sadness with you when you go

It is a burden all must carry

You will learn to manage the load

One of the many rocks we must bear on our journey through life

One day you will leave

The walls will know when it is time

You will see the crack of light under an exit you never even knew was there

Do not fear it

Embrace its protection

This room

Is a womb

You took away parts of me that I will never get back
And I'm working ******* being okay with that.
