I watched you breathing,
your chest rise and fall.
These moments I'll cherish,
but I can't live them all.

We made a life of
both laughter and tears.
But the sun's finally shining,
the rain's starting to clear.
Written to the melody of "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones

We were startled by the rain
we weren't used to it
the pit pat, pit pat, pit pat

We were startled by the rain
such a long drought
pit, pit, pit, pat, pat

We were startled by the distant thunder
we had been shaken by quakes
but no thunder, not in months, perhaps a year

We were startled by the lightning
its white flash sparking fear and awe
zipping through the sky

Pit, pit, pat, pat, pat
Pit, pit, pat, pat, pat
Flashes and shakes

We are startled by the rain
we aren't used to it
the pit pat, pit, pat, pit pat
Axion Prelude Dec 2020
It's raining outside. I woke up gently to it tapping on the window; the sound enraptures me, I kept my eyes shut for a time to simply embrace the moment.

It reminded me of "her," I felt that voice in every droplet that touched the glass; like those loving words and fluency with the hearts involved, I even felt it in the way the cold air caressed my skin.

The rain is my peace, my inevitable calm. It brings me a joy like nothing else, and instills a contentment unrivaled by any other nuance.

I sensed that there, because I've come to find: the rain, those feelings, they've always been her
I awake with you, I sleep to you..

Where is my Queen~
Favonius Dec 2020
That night, he said,
That night under tears and rain,
You raised a man from his shadows
You taught me how to be myself again.

You tore your soul, he said,
You let some seep into me
        Warm summer wafting
Through Frostbitten lips.

Don’t you turn, he said,
Let your eyes flow into mine
                 My sweat dances spirals
                         Wherever your fingers touched.

Never ask me again, he said,
Never ask what came before you,
For all I knew was darkness, darkness
Laced with rain and tears.
Never again.

Clouds gather together as if preparing for a siege;
they threaten us with lighting but the bolts cannot quite reach.
The sky has many things to say but wastes no air on speech,
so we gather close to see if our walls the storm will breach.
brontide is one of my favorite words, it’s a word for the sound of distant thunder.

I hope that you dance in the rain and soak in the night. Sunny days were made for others, not distant from light. You outshine the stars with your eyes so bright. Because you my darling, are a child of the night.

Rain befalls the afternoon like a heavy blanket
A blanket under which I rest
Legs crossed and crossed and crossed
Neck curved as a comma,
The smallest body you have seen

Nothing is mine
My arms, my hands, my head
The water that falls
Lands on nothing that belongs

Nothing is ours
The sky, the ground, the air
Skin becomes wet
Skin and water with no owner
This poem is about feelings of depersonalisation and derealisation, as well as discomfort in one's own body.
