There's trouble in Alphaville:

Caution in the taxi, "I am on a journey to the end of the night."

Remember to silence love when sneaking Sally thru the alley.

There's always one too many wives on the same wavelength.

Seeing is believing in the cold ultraviolet light of a long, warm lens.

And naturally "How to Teach Your Wife to Be a Widow" is all checked out at the local library.

i’m high and alone
and my thoughts land on you

you in the summer
on the beach
exhausted from the sun and ocean

memories of how perfect you are
when you show yourself to the universe

you’re beautiful at home
but you’re drop dead gorgeous
when exposed to the world
and ode to my husband and his love for travelling

We marry
On the basis of queries
Concerning and confirming
The age difference and dissimilarity
Between the prince charming and his to be fairy
No introductions primarily
The birthmarks entitled as scary
No emotional reciprocity
Only inquiries about the popped cherries
And advices, unchary
By the gooseberries
Hardly any knowledge of monetary
Big mouths begging for a huge dowry
Somehow her decorum works as a parry
This is how we get married.

Married life can get hectic at times,
But it can be beautiful as well,
Don't get discouraged when times get hard,
Hold on and keep fighting to the finish,
Me and my wife have been through the worse,
We still keep fighting,
You can't give up just because it gets rough.

No fight will ever be easy,
As time goes by things will get harder,
Nothing worth having will ever be easy,
The harder the fight is,
The more valuable they are,
Can't have something valuable without a fight.

The price of love is priceless,
Never stay in a unhappy marriage,
Leave that marriage if you're not happy,
You deserve to be happy,
You don't deserve to be unhappy,
Marriage isn't for the weak,
Not everyone is mature enough for marriage,
Not everyone is strong enough for marriage.

If you don't feel in your heart you're ready,
Just do yourself a favor and stay single,
Marriage is a respectable gesture,
Not just another journey in your life,
Take it seriously not just walk through it.
Marriage isn't for the weak. If you're not mature enough to handle it just stay single.

You think it's going to be your way or the highway but that's not how it's going to be.
You'd better change your way of thinking if you want to continue to be married to me.
You are not always going to get your way.
You'd better learn that if you want me to stay.
You need to learn that marriage is a two-way street, it's not a one-way street.
When it comes to our marriage, I'm not going to take a back seat.
You don't care about my dreams and desires, you think it's all about you.
If you don't change, I'll have this marriage annulled, that's what I'll do.
You've started laughing because you actually think I'm not serious.
When I talk about this problem, you think it's not worthy to discuss.
It won't be your way or the highway but that is something that I have failed to make clear.
I no longer want you for a wife so I'm going to pack my bags and get the hell out of here.
EVEN THOUGH THIS POEM IS FICTIONAL, I REALLY WOULD LEAVE SUCH A PERSON

a boy was once
everything to me
I left to get my degree
so young and fragile
wore my cap and tassel
set out to find what
it is i’ve been looking for
only to find it was not him
anymore

a man was once
nothing to me
just a sight to see
from across the bar
until I got in his car
and found what it is
i’ve been needing all along
he’s holding my hand
and he’s playing that song

two nights later
in the kitchen light
of his quaint little home
I danced with the man
who I met at the bar
he made me understand
just how naive boys are

two years later
in stain glass light
of the church down the road
I am meant to marry the man
but he never showed.
My mind is blank
In my head, dark thoughts sank
My mind is clouded
Things are shrouded
I can't see a thing
So I begin to sing
Not knowing what it shall bring
I sing of spring
I sing of my king
I see a ring
Attached to a string
What does the string bring?
Am I willing to take the risk
I need to be brisk
Shall I give my life to someone
Or decline the ring from one
Not knowing what the string brings

I've always thought that marriage is a big risk, and if you are willing to take it for someone you must be brave.

If you're an agricultural enthusiast,
Or gifted tower dwelling urbanite,
I know a priest who’ll bless your cockerel, favorite cow,
pig, sheep (with a predilection for lambs), tractor and
two-seater outhouse,
(I once saw a priest bless Farmer Paul’s load of manure).
He’ll lift a hand over
dog, cat, gerbil, cockatoo,
Foster children, adoptees, naturals and the unnatural.

They will bless people in love;
they will bless their love;
But not the union born from their love.

All love, he will say,
Is Divine.

God does not bless sin, said Papa.

Tsk, tsk... it's only a blessing, for Christ's sake.
Shame on the RC Church.

death is a lover, asking for your hand in marriage.
run if you please, but escape is temporary
so won't you love, as the white flowers fall...
embrace death and the sweet hums of its call
