My favorite time of the day lately
Is when everyone else in the house is sleeping.
This is my alone time.
Laying in my cocoon of warm blankets
I take in the silence
My mantra ensues

This is my time
And no one can take it from me.

I get lost in daydreams that fade into real dreams.
And as I hit snooze on my alarm the mantra continues

These next 10 minutes are mine and mine alone.
I am safe in my cocoon and I am safe in this room.
Hold on to this feeling of calm.
The day will pass at times constant speed.
No one can change that no matter how it feels.
This is my time
No one can take it from me.

By small and simple acts and ways
Our futures come to pass
And so we ought to choose today
The ways that bless at last

For time speeds by and races on
And seeds we’ve planted grow
Then let’s arise each waking dawn
And act on what we know

Small and simple will often lead
To great and glorious things
So set good habits with all speed
And watch the wealth this brings

Dream big indeed, and make a start
Small steps will do just fine
Leverage time - it’s just plain smart
And works with laws divine

Let “small and simple” work in you
Develop heart and mind
Then confidently follow through
And live what you’ve designed

By small and simple things, great things are often brought to pass.  Dream big.  Dream very big.  Then take concrete (and sometimes small) steps toward your dreams.

This is Prosperity Poem 115 - and I simply do one poem per week.  Time takes care of the rest.  Commit to positive habits, and time will take care of your future!

You were long gone
My Dear!
But for some reason
I kept sending you
The Postcards
and now I know
Why they say
"Old habits die hard"
Amanda Kay Burke Dec 2020
In end I'm surprised
An old habit slowly dies
And beginnings rise
It takes determination but you can beat any vice

-More debt, more problems
-More bills, more silence
-High like the Covid cases, Feels like each month’s recycling
-Working sleepy through the day, wide awake through the night.

-I feel like drinking right now will help change my mood from being bitter
-Invite some company over while I pour this liquor
-Stretch this drink like a river.
-I want it, I have it, I got it
-Getting faded quicker, Killing my liver.

-Head shots, head shots take one baby
-We in the moment just living
-Emotions & *** in the air mixing, yeah.
-A new rememberable night flowing through my memories
-She put her drink down, took me back to the room
After we finished, she called me her boo.

-I wake up to her calling her man in the next room
-She lied to him saying, “I’m still at my girl house”, stretching a lie from the truth
-I didn’t know she had a man: the slightest clue.

-Thinking in my head how could you sit here & do this to me
-Seriously, do this to me
-Treating me like some side-piece.
-But you know what I appreciate this lesson man, I mean I really I do.
-You’re not one for me, you’re not the type I need to pursue.
-Sometimes I wish things were different growing up becoming a grown up.

-The next day, I sit back, then lay back, trying to relax as I light up the candles
-I been through some battles. Pray that God heal me from my head to my ankles
-Times like this, I wish things were better now like back then
-I’m casting out more demons and letting more angels come in
Telling a story about real life experiences
Atlas Dec 2020
Have you ever starved yourself to the point of sickness?
Empty and hallow and still trying to give pieces of yourself that don’t exist
You take another pill, tell another lie, say to yourself, your family and friends you are fine
Eat just enough to get by
Hope they don’t notice the gaps getting larger between your meals and your thighs
You take sleeping pills because sleep has become harder and harder to reach
The pit in your stomach screams loudly
Warning you that it’s empty
Reluctantly you go and swallow your pride
And hope that will last you through the evening

I used to smoke cigarettes
because of the head rush
and how the world would stop
and I could focus
and as quickly as a December’s sunset
my problems would fade
and it would just be me
and nothing else invading my brain
pulling me left and right until I
spiraled and my heart and mind would ache
as if I had climbed mountains for a week.
How cruel of nicotine to trick the mind
into thinking nothing else would help
until I ended up in your arms
and felt our two souls become one.
I threw my cigarettes into the river
and breathed you in instead.
I Love You
