My friend, I would sooner fear the reason why
I did not grasp an opportunity with both hands
And wring the very essence of life from it;
Than I would fear the opportunity itself.
Inspired by an old key chain I rediscovered today - the words 'through unlocked doors' are embossed on the back of it. I think I'll start using it again. :)

I'm not sure
if we have souls
or if its a metaphor
of our essence
but
either way
I want mine
to mingle with yours

new year, new poem
Leah Oviedo Dec 2018
Your essence is a beauty that feeds the souls of others
As important as any one, any group, any power
More than skin and bones, more than words and actions
A whole being with unexplored possibilities
Unstoppable strength
Unknown growth
What will you do with that essence
In each day of your life
Feeling inspired

A firefly-like light surrounded me
with the energies of a dear sacred one.
One who carried God spark within.

It drifted and spun until I,
in deep breath caught its essence.

It radiated lighting room
to give me its gift.

It traveled pulsated merging in moment
to give me peace.

And so I shall catch your smile cross distant miles,
putting it into drawer of heart...
Cherishing it with glory and gratitude.
Inspired by a chat with Kim J. Baker. A gift to humanity (weather she goes out or stays inside her four walls. ) Thank you Kim.

Sunlight sings to me!
A momentary pleasure?
That’s all in the end.

With every breath I can feel your essence
It showers over me like fresh summer rain
Hitting the sidewalk and floating back into the air as steamy humidity
Making it difficult to catch my breath
It feels like you're stealing my life
Oh my how I want it to be yours
Let me live eternally in your soul

And her name
Forever ingrained on my breath.
I fall witness
Lost in a daze,
Staring off into the sun.
Her name sweet.
Though often stung.
A tattoo everlasting.
A reminder of a time spent.
Her name.
A harvest of grain left behind.
Spread between distance,
A field covered in twist and turns.
Her name spelt in curious curve.
Stretched out.
A river generous in eternal stillness.
My breath a witness, in remembrance of her hands.
If I should ever rebel against heaven.
May I starve, shrivel
Due to wrath.
Cheeks sunk in
Losing sight, staring into the sun.
The memory of skin fed to my lips.
Revealing hunger
My every word stained in essence.
An ink that fills thirst.
Splattered in the curve of my mouth.
My tongue forever scarred
By the kiss of her name

From beyond the clouds and stars,
For a voiceless clear call, I perk my ears.
The foam, froth and the very crux
An orchestra of a trillion pieces the universe,
You, me and the spirit binding it all,
Resonate to the pulses of an unflinching light.
Everything that is seen or invisible,
With all that are known or not at all,
Are tightly woven together as one!
Any awareness otherwise, a mere fallacy,
Let go, come be one with the pure essence!
