Seeking a Dragon:

“Has anyone ever seen, a lizard who licks the air, smells the sounds, hears the tasty gnats flying ‘round and knows the instincts of his prey while holding fast his scaly-green statue on a hot summer’s day with his eyes like pinholes straight to hell, his hunger an anxious frantic swell he quickly darts after his dinner devouring that faithless sinner?”
I have heard that obese Christians are tastier. In that regard Americans must be delicious!

Eyes
That glow
Red in the dark
And a tail long
That lashes
Back
And forth.
Thick hide
Dark scales.
Spines and
Hard plates
[sharp]                                      Down the neck                                  [angles]
To shoulders wide and broad, leather tough and veins bold, wings old
A strong back and rippled spine, spines and scales from an iron mine
Ancient legs that drag and carry ancient weight, no longer merry
Fire formed in cavernous lungs, fat hangs low on hollow bones
Too slow and old now to fly, still longing for younger days
And memories so old and dark of times gone by
Of men in gleaming metal with swords sharp
Of horses carrying armies over hill and dale
Of younger days and greener grass
Of chasing dames and fights with fire
No worries     no troubles         no pain
But              time marches          past
   Scales fall off
  spines dull
   Eyes that
   Once glew
   Shut away
  And men
   Of metal
  Armour
  And
  Steel
  Win

Poem about a dragon, written in the shape of a dragon- while I was listening to a song.... about a dragon
Bee Ethel Jun 2016
deep in primal perceptions
soft mews interrupt
but the dragon barely moves
only raising an eyelid slightly
the creature is too insignificant
to make a decent meal
he continues
considering the power of flame
and all the cautionary uses thereof
then again,mew
mew mewl
a fuzzy face looks up
to the scaly toothy maw
that yawns long
and lets out a deep breath
the kitten makes a face
and sneezes
the bemused beast chortles
stretching claws
to pick it up high
the kitten has no fear
responding with an indignant
      MEW!
the aged dragon considers
and places it by his sinewy tail
wrapping around the soft fur
then finishing considerations
he falls asleep to a subtle purr

There once was a tiny Dragon
The biggest anyone could fathom
He was the fiercest in all the land
And always willing to lend a helping hand
He could breath fire so you better take stock
He turns everyone into ice blocks
In this land the sun always shines
But it will stop raining at the drop of a dime
It's the land of contradiction
Every thing is fiction

Or is it???

Ethereal shards glistened in its breath,
radiant light flickered and her wings
were completely enveloped.

Ceasing she was birthed anew its old hands
held her delicately and smiled, stretching
her wings she fluttered off reborn.

The kind of flakes which catch your eyelashes and make you blink.
Obnoxious yet beautiful things.
The dragonflies of a December night on an April day.
Yet as close as we are now to May,
There's no delight in dragonflies of frosted ice.
You catch my eye,
And land upon my windshield just to be scraped away.
Goodbye spring day,
Let us welcome back the winters bite of a dragonfly,
Which flew away.

Star glass and light.  Emotion engine, dream machine. This is my Lightcycle!  With just thought I can catapult myself across the galaxy!  I remember home and the fields of blue bonnets and Indian paint brushes.  I remember looking up at the stars from Earth.  Wishing to one day see them.  But nothing is more beautiful than that blue star from afar. Earth shines and sings sapphire among the blackness we call space.   But as I enter my solar system I no longer see her.  I quickly thought stream home and find my planet is covered in a sick gray shadowy nebula.   Something is here and is trying to take away all the souls of the Earth!  I try and break through with my Lightcycle!  The star shell fills with my anger and despair!  Reds and tornados made of light dance within my Lightcycle! But to no avail the nebula seems to counter act my will!  I close my eyes as tears flow.  My lightcycle cries colors on the inside.  As I open my eyes I see a cloud within my lightcycle that is made of all colors!  It then clears as I see the harp with light strings the Dragon Secalos gave to me.  This was the dragon I escorted across the galaxy!  The harp then materialized in my hands and I played the melody of the star serpent!  I cannot begin to describe the melody to you.  It was like my dreams were playing for me.  From afar I could see a blue star growing and growing.  Only it was no blue star at all! It was the dragon Secalos!  He was even more massive than before. His wings shined Star Earth blue.  He must of been the size of our moon.  He looked to me with glowing blue eyes!  He spoke to me with his mind.   "  I will help you in thy darkest hour as you helped me."   The dragon then flew toward our sun and completely back in an instant. He then emitted a beam of light that was all colors toward the dark gray nebula.  The dark grey nebula filled with colors and seem to almost dissipate.  The beautiful majestic Earth seem to almost smile back at me. " Thank you serpent of the stars!" " Thank you rider of light. "

I've fed this dragon long enough
its scales grown ragged, dark, and rough
I told myself it was quite tame
but in my ear it whispers blame
Holes in my heart his talons tore
red and raw
the wounds are sore
Starved to death proved to be tough
it is so fun to feed it fluff
I'm much too old to play this game
I'm sick of all the serpent's shame
The demon's dead down to its core
and cannot hurt me anymore
