Sit there and watch
the power of the moon
feel how you are moved
by Her
your blood at her mercy
Watch the tides and learn
to surface when it is safe
enough to breathe
wax with Her
and wane with Her
learn to swim with the
mutable tides
of your existence
navigate these hours
by Her
then see the bounty
of the moon spill into your life
"The moon is a loyal companion." -Mafi

On this plane
we are flesh
made from real tears
and freshly spilt blood
we feel the incisions
to the bone
of everyday assaults
some minor
spoken words
some monumental
trauma that leaves
us stifled in our tracks
it's more than a dream
and more like a
never ending nightmare
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2016
You scream like a banshee, woman
and you would be one
You think white as bright as the sun
You are killing us
This drought
The impeccable thirst
with your burning word
tone it down, mama
be like the moon
and reflect on it
Be cool and have the courage
to whisper it in our ears
be fluent in the sheer joy
of silence
Let us figure it out
for ourselves
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2017
You play me
like an adagio
Unhurried but dissonant
You challenged me
Moved me to
the inner depths of you
I got lost
without knowing
Until I heard you
in G minor...over
and over again
Now I'm the silent breath
between your notes

Play on, maestro, play on...
Tell me, maestro,
if I could be a song
what would it be?
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2018
at most we are
the cosmos.
humming in hi and lo.
to the vibes you cannot see
but feeling with your soul
your feet
moving to the rhythm of notes
that we are together
in unison and out.
but even in our dissonance
We are in harmony
in sync
with something
beyond us.
Music is a spiritual experience.

I tried to hide it

In layers of baggy peasantry

in mishap crinkles of sloppy

Nothing to adorn my face

but its earthy ashen glow

He found me despite this

false exterior

This plump mass of

flesh and matter

He followed the

trail of smolder

leading to my lips

Watched me lick

the air and for an instant

stood immobile

Mouth slightly agape
Tanisha Jackland Apr 2018
I feel my bones soften
when I kiss you
then I am this supine
and mysterious thing
a black cat caught hot in
the moon-lit heat
Tanisha Jackland Jun 2017
But what if I love
the reflection of
my own soul
its vibrancy
its complicated depth
the ever evolving ways
it expands underneath the radar
of human awareness
How it makes everything
unusually special
Thru these eyes
thru these soul lens
everything is metallic
like a mirror
that loves the reflection
of me
Tanisha Jackland Jun 2017
Respect the beat

they dance wild to
the rhythm

it reminds them
of life and breath

The beat always
be... Mama...

Always listen for it

ground yourself
by it
to be yourself

She is the beat
unto you

find your own truth
thru your own breath...

To thine own
beat be true
Breath and beat are interchangable
Tanisha Jackland Jul 2018
I have never been dainty
Though I can imagine
it must be a challenge
to summon up disdain
with small wrists and ankles
Love of self is really what matters most.
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
I am the night siren
Calling you
To still waters
I have summoned the
Waves to beseech you
Upon my shores
Moon tide
Deep rain cast down
To brush your lucid lips
With the eternal
Into the depths
Fluid blanket
Of darkness
I am the night singer
Bringing you the song…
Tanisha Jackland Nov 2017
He is double-sided
and speaks with a second tongue
There are legions of him
rising out from under stones
casting spells
to win you over
would-be plasticized trophy
He will bamboozle you
with the sweetness of his lips
He is no sir lancelot but
a shapeshifting
boogie man waiting to
kidnap you and
hang you on his wall
You have been warned.
Tanisha Jackland Nov 2016
Our species is dying
We are becoming extinct
with every breath of contempt
You are hating us into oblivion

And I think it *****.
Tanisha Jackland Nov 2018
To marinate.
in the warm opacity
0f then.
return to the black succulence.
when oblivion wore on you so well.
Your face was the night
gleaming with hefty stars.
You being infinity feeding.
what prize is this?
beneath this eternal veil.
for the eyes that have kept you awake
belong to you and no one.
Soul.
Tanisha Jackland Jun 2023
Nearly immortal
I have died more than
a thousand breathtaking deaths
in this body
Creaking only when
I want to prove something
Physical like movement
My flawed flesh with
Its incurable wrinkles
Has carried me thru the
Uncertainty of dis-ease
I still look for rainbows
as a sign for hope
while the rain waters
my dreams and bones
The Sun will always be my co-creator
I make good food
but still envy the
longevity of trees
Tanisha Jackland Nov 2017
The young are
not immune
to bleeding

They are not
immortal

just naive
and very short sighted
it comes with being
sucker punched by life
over and over again
until they realize
that the bleeding
doesn't last forever
and is only mildly painful

to make this point...
Tanisha Jackland May 2018
Here I am again
in the thrush of
falling apart again
I don't want to leave
my body another time
It's so cold over there
the chains heavier
and seldom unseen
everyone pretends in freedom
but all of them scared
they see
their eyes
see the horror
they feel the doom
there we are all encumbered
Please I don't want to go there again
Please
Not again
Enough said.
Tanisha Jackland May 2016
You cannot disturb
what is already
making quite a raucous
in between the
gun shots and chatter
is this inaudible void
that feeds itself
when no one is looking
to hear it is like
hearing God
A frequency at which
we are frantically
trying to get away from
To be entertained
and extracted
from the sacredness of
what is subtle
We are a bad
loud bunch
just learning how
to be silence
learning how to
be God.
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2021
I'd rather be me
than you
in this skin
there are no apologies
just small anxieties
that come with
a purpose
to move me into
the center of my being
unafraid
to be happy in these bones
and free to be me
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
I am the silent one.
The one who watches
all the terrible things.

Not a sputter
Shall escape my lips.
In search of a cordial tongue.
For mine is cold
like the skin of ghosts

Vacant to this scourge
In the moment
on a dead moon night

I am the silent one
The one who watches
you do all the terrible things.
Take heed.
Tanisha Jackland Mar 2020
The real fiend is you
don't defeat him
or make him stupid
just sit with him
and feel his presence
Tanisha Jackland Sep 2017
Impress no one for this is the hour of authenticity
It is the hour to wake up to the fact that you are a slave
and your mentality is a slave spitting slave rhetoric
and it's a tragic narrative if you die in this mortal state

So don't make your holidays pointless make them mean
something and let the cold blood of the rationale
leave your delicate veins from the still-life that was
into something renewed and eternal...
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2018
Watch me
See how
graceful I am
I make no mistakes
under your watchful eye
I am gilded perfection

just me and my righteousness
righting all the wrongs
while you watch
Me and the right moves

just don't take your
eyes off of me
or I become part of this massive
presence in the cosmos
doing soulfully wanton
and naughty things
shed light on me
and I become this
perfect
little
freak
We all pretend to have it together when someone is watching.
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
Truth comes in waves.
Like the rhythm
of the ocean.
We were born there
in its womb.
And We are at the mercy
of the moon.

It’s hard to tell the truth
When you don’t recall
Being immortal.
When you’ve forgotten
Your own beauty.
The song that
could ultimately save you.

So we come here,
Lost limping sirens.
Mouthing lies
In falsetto memories.
Breaking bread with comfort.
But Leaving the dead to linger
upon a truthless shore.
What does the Ocean say to you?
Tanisha Jackland Oct 2020
"I'm building a cult around Your Figure" -Charles Michael Parks, jr.

Go ahead
You are perfect.
For I am edible enough
to break you with
my tongue.
I will
stain you with
tannins
to color your face
with my stink.
For I am as wanton
as an open sky.
Bring me
your sun-lit kisses
between this
black berry bush
deliver me
and make me endless...
Tanisha Jackland Jun 2016
Winter's Fingers
tickles me and
I cuddle up to the
moon with a
man who has magic
on his skin
the chill of winter
sometimes stings but
there is nothing like
warm flesh on warm flesh...
Tanisha Jackland Sep 2016
One day I'll make
this huge breakthrough

then

You will know me by
the big head I'd carry
until I'm tired
of holding all
that sack of
proud nothingness on
my nimble funny
looking shoulders

A girl pretending
grandiose possibilities
who just grows
into this lame thing
Tanisha Jackland May 2016
I’ve searched the evening tides for you
the seams of you in dreams
My pixie rose plucked for petals

It was in the distance of you that fed me
As if you could satisfy the insatiable

To relish in the depth of this oblivion
How sweet the spell comes

I could barely hear the wailing
Your body broken in delicate moments
Drifting from me like a pretty ghost

Here you are again
My favorite lonely one
Dispelling the void between us
With this song
Tanisha Jackland Mar 2020
I laid down
my own mask
My face needed
room to breathe
I remember
I was once a pretender
Jostled ghosts
With paper armor
Kept the
truth from
being haunted.
It’s not easy to show
The world my teeth
And the ugly cast for my
setting bones
to be self-liberated
in the land of make believe
than encumbered
by collective lies...
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2017
When You Realize
it does no good
to be good
here on the grand stage
of human felicity
trying to do what's right
despite that inner
inferno burning
hot like coals

When you realize
it does no good
to do good
Here it just gathers dust
and is lost amongst us
to a mad mad
fallacious world

Once you realize
the good won't amount
to much
except for the soul
you could stain that
and spend an eternity
washing out the mold

So its best to come clean
and be good for the
sake of it
for you never know
what's within the unseen
Tanisha Jackland Jul 2019
God does not see

afterall- She invokes

Her way thru

the womb of space

like it was Her own

She is creation itself

for we were

born in Her own image

Some more dark

than others

but female nonetheless

soft and fluid

Even our male counterparts

were here as female

once upon a time ago

Some choosing to

whine about this present state

grabbing females like

possessions and wanting to

connect with Her again

the little man with the dainty hands

says, nothing stellar and is

deciding how to corrupt you
No Trump for you.

One
My mind drifts
away from me
like a song
I cannot catch
and I am open to the
blessing of your kisses
on my feet
Sacred lover
come dance with me
on silk
enter me until
we are one
Tanisha Jackland Mar 2020
Maybe if we all
took one deep
collective breath
we could step off
this mad
merry-go-round
into a world
where
thoughtfulness
reigns
and nature is divine
then we could teach
our children the
slow ways of walking
mindfully on this land...
Tanisha Jackland Jan 2018
No one has skeletons
in their closets anymore
we've disclosed too much of
our ***** bones

Now we are left with
nothing but this flesh
without the things that
make us ugly and
keep us upright

No shadows or dark secrets
to keep us awake at night
Nothing to process or to aspire to

No more dreams but the wicked
fodder of a life lived in conformity
and
on the surface
We all need to hide something and let it stay there until it's ready to be unveiled.
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
The mouth
does mysterious things
tasting your skin
like wine
your fluid lost down
my throat
I kiss you in
deliberate licks
the musk in shadows
divine intervention
rises and falls like
soft petals
and wet as rain...

A child moves

paint without effort

over the white abyss

channeling Van Gogh

or Matisse

the nerve of these

little ones to dare tap

into the celestial void

of creation

the audacity of a child

to till onto their paper

random flora

like a gardener of a new alchemy.
"All children are artists.  The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." Picasso

Perhaps God
is the scent of
the Earth
fertile and drunk
with the sustenance
of rain or maybe
God is gravity
pulling us toward
the orbit of its grace
or God
Could be seeing
your love for the very
first time
the familiar longing
between old friends
No.
God is the taste
of pure ambrosia
when it drips from
your ever-plump lips...
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2018
We lived sullen in
awkward decadence.
Hoarding strange
little monuments. and
Odes to us.
Enough to choke on it.
The black soot of
sacrificial trees.
I saw them
burning mid-suicide.
Martyrs with wooden hearts.
at least they used them.
Unlike us
we had accidental brains
and drooled over them.
the cold blooded arrogance
Not really noble yet
we stay
sleeping like the
greed in prodigied monks
Wake me up when the
bees grow heavy
with honey again.
pinch me when we
collectively awake.
Woe for the plight of the honey bee and oui little us...

Truth teller
Truth teller
what will
you tell
will your tongue
be a sweetner
a luminescent pearl
or will it be a flame
to burn down the world.
Tell the truth.
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
Immortalize me.
Take all of me into you.
And let me be there
In your skin.
Imagine me
Filling up your lungs.
Seeing thru your eyes.
Speaking from your mouth.
Poet, then write me a poem
About eternity.
Write me a poem about me.
The best poem about me wins a prize.
Tanisha Jackland Jul 2020
Lazy days are for
laying in the Sun
Belly up
dream gazing
fishing the sky
for portraits
the clouds
become divination
tools for sages
We are seers
of this crystal ball world
passing by
billowy in summer skies
Tanisha Jackland Sep 2018
I got bit yesterday
You said I taste
metal sweet upon
your lips

So I returned the favor
and sought you out
with the lashing
of my tongue

taking the edible
bits of you
my holy sacrament
Tanisha Jackland Jun 2017
There is a stillness which exists
between every word and silence
Within that space of the slightest
breath may you find Love.
For it is in the house of love
which heals you.
It is in the unbroken strings of love
that is forgiveness driving us closer
together more than any burden carried in
your heart and on your back.
For every tear you shed may you enter
the soul silently to open and
let in the presence of peace to guide you.
Seek Forgiveness. Seek Service. Seek Unseen,

Sending waves of healing energy to all.
In this, lies the sacredness of what
Has ever been forgotten.

And so it is.

Priceless
Price tags
are for fools
laughing nonchalantly
at the dead air
'
the sky has fallen
for free
as if
gravity will cease
to
anchor you
to the Earth.

What we value most
No one can afford
you can only
know it thru a
divine spark
and touch it from
the marrow of
your bones

Perhaps if you're lucky
and true
the Sun
will reveal itself
as God.
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2015
Within this
proximity
is my still life.
The silent
homecoming.
Beyond this
brutal chatter.
I could hold
you down
under my breath.
Then in one long
exhale of you
release a reluctant sigh.
You MUST listen and use headphones.

Days like these
I am the fool
who remembers you

Like a phantom wind
you come from nowhere
to haunt me

This futile struggle
I get caught in

This mess of me
gets stuck

I am nothing
but the rain singing its
sad and heavy song
Tanisha Jackland Dec 2017
I wear my red star
like a good capitalist
Rock star status
check
Going to the grave
as shallow as I am
check
Just another american
leaving my carbon foot
print a mystery unbeknownst
to me and to the flat earthers
men who say they swore
Jesus went and
came already again
but I'm here to tell you
that my red star
will rock your world
and I am too old for this
so the fake people
can just kiss my
red star...

Some times I see
images in the river
of complicated days
like snapshots from God

Could I be Her
unwilling messenger
with a bolt of
mercurial madness
shot thru my veins

Or is it just the lie
from a bitter little pill...
Tanisha Jackland Nov 2018
You do not belong to this world.
Don't let them corrupt you.
You would encompass all things
knowing who you truly are.
Don't let them deceive you.
You are a divine being expressing itself
as human.
Being love.

Be still and remember.
You are not of this world but merely in it.

That love poem you
are writing for your lover
is really you
writing to yourself
