Every night I sit by a fire,
the only fire that keeps me warm:
not quite alive, but never really dying;
flaking white ash,
burned beyond recognition,
crumbling into nothing;
and gray smoke,
stinging my eyes, eating up my lungs,
as I breathe in the fumes
and lay beside the fire,
the fire of what was, and
what could have been,
and what never will be.
Hindi na umulan ngayong gabi, pero
basa pa ang kalsada.
Sa loob ng bus na sinasakyan,
tuyo ang aking puso
at umuulan ng luha.
It no longer rained tonight, but
the road is still wet.
Inside the bus I'm on,
my heart is dry
and it is raining tears.
Face down and alone
In your crystal palace
Cheek pressed against glass
Cracks on ev'ry surface
Fear taking your breath
With each passing moment
The cold hand of death
Closing around your neck
"Is this the end, then?"
The question left hanging
Your wild beating heart
Slowly going silent
The stars disappear
Night reaches its blackest
Then glorious light
Comes piercing the darkness
If shadows could dream,
Do they wish to become that which they follow?
Do they wish to have a form all their own?
Or have they given up on dreams,
Because there is no hope of change
For one who was born a shadow?
Before the dawn, when I wake up
You're sound asleep, got no makeup
I look at you, I always do
You've got it all, but you've got no clue
Your quietness and mystery
And your unspoken history
Your calm demeanor, golden voice
A level head above the noise
Always on point, there's no excess
The words you say, the way you dress
No awkward move, no big disgrace
You've got all that and a pretty face
Your worst is better than my best
And if I could make one request
Don't smile at me, 'cause when you do
It breaks my heart and makes me blue
Don't want to hate you, never will
You do no wrong, yet hurt me still
You're everything he wants, you see
And all I ever want to be.
There are two forces that make humankind forgetful:
Love, which makes us forget
the offenses that hurt the most
and Greed, which makes us forget
the things that matter the most.
Some of my takeaways from the Thai movie "Bad Genius."
Ang salita ng hari ay apoy
na nagpapainit sa pugon
nagpapakulo sa bituka
ng balikong lipunan
kung saan ang kampeon
ay nagiging kampon
at ang pagtakbo ng hustisya
ay nauungusan na
ng pagtakbo ng mga nasisiil.
At sa gitna ng kaguluhan,
sa gitna ng katahimikan
mas lumalakas ang loob
at lalong lumalago
ang masasamang damo.
Sindilim na ng gabi
ang tanghaling tapat,
sa panganib na ngayo'y
wala nang pinipiling oras
at ang buhay na iyong
baka bukas sa kalsada'y
isang mantsang pula na lamang.
