Ashly Kocher
Your lifeless body laying there, the silence was dark
The chill grew colder, the time passed by
The wait was over, it was time for goodbye
We surrounded your bedside, we prayed and sang
I know you heard us, and still to this day
The silence is now broken but the chill is still cold
Well be ok, I'm sure you know

I hope your watching over me each and everyday because I know your still with me in some way
I look to the sky and I know your still there...

You will always be my "Papa Bear."
I wrote this right after my dad passed away 4 years ago today.

Tryst
The light my eyes receive
Reflecting of your face
That aids me to perceive
Each imperfected grace

Has had to wend and weave,
Though at tremendous pace,
Through airs that interleave
Our intervening space

And so I sometimes grieve
That I can but retrace
The beauty I believe
No time would dare efface.

Sometimes the pieces fall into place
Even though I am no longer here to see your face
Embrace the moment, as I will be with you
As you embark on this new journey
Remember how proud I am of you
This is a big step in your career
Even though I’m far away, I am always near
In your heart, whispering in your ear, your guardian angel when you have a doubt of fear
I will always protect you in all you do
Listen for the loud roar from Heaven as I congratulate you
As you, my daughter, receive your pin of honor
I’ll be looking down from Heaven even more proud then before
Remember always...
      Stay Humble
           Stay Strong
                Stay You
As you continue to allow me to always watch over and protect you

Missy, I love you and miss you more then you know
But remember I am right next to you forever and always
As you start on your new life’s journey

                                           Love,
                                                 MOM
I wrote this for my aunt who lost her mom 4 years ago. She will be moving up in her job as a lieutenant in Colorado. I wrote this like her mom was talking to her from Heaven. I hope the message gets across. Let me know your thoughts.

April
A crowded room
The buzz of voices
A scent that you remember
From long ago
Memories rise like ghosts,
The dead come back
To haunt your hard-won peace.
Someone dared to wear
The cologne he wore
When he said goodbye
It still haunts me, even now

Put guns into the hands of children
Put bullets through their hearts
Soldiers killed before the war’s begun
those who were to carry tomorrow’s flag
Lie buried beneath their elder’s feet
How many lives in the name
Of justice,
Revenge,
Or greed?

The future dies with each of them.

It’s bad when I run
Out of titles for all my
Sad poems about you.

As I took a walk outside,
I noticed something that caught my eye.
Twisted in the grass, ingrained with dirt,
What I saw made my heart hurt.

Monarch's wings I had found,
Which gave me feelings so profound.
An intense sadness, helplessness, fear,
Overcame me as I beheld these artifacts dear.

In death or life, they must have been torn,
These beautiful wings that the creature bore.
I picked them up and held them close,
These wings that symbolized what I feared the most-

Losing myself, my biggest part,
The part of my soul that is dearest to my heart.
And what for my memories, good and bad?
What if I couldn't remember anything; wouldn't that be sad?

The monarch's wings sit still on my dresser,
A reminder of my constant stressor,
Yet also comforting me just the same,
As I pass through each day, feeling slightly more brave.

Why do I feel like I’m always running,
Always chasing after you?
I’m trying to hand you the baton
On the track, and you sprint ahead of me,
Leaving me in the dust.
For once, could you try to contact me?
For once, could you think of me first?
Or will you just keep on running?

When I said, “please give
Me some space,” I didn't mean
That we would be through.

When I said, ‘please don't
Worry about me,’ I did
Not mean, “don't be here”.

When I said, “I love
You, but I'm such a mess,” I
Just wanted comfort.

When I said, “don't leave,”
I actually meant it,
So please- stay with me.

A paw print you left on our hearts
Even though now we are apart
It’s not goodbye
               It’s see ya again
Then one day we’ll meet you
                At the rainbow bridges end....
