its for someone to be.

AllAtOnce
they say that when you kiss someone you've wanted for so long
that it's the best thing and is never wrong
well I wouldn't know, would I?
wrong seems to be our middle name
they say when you're lying awake I'm dreaming of you
i say that all of our dreaming is through
they say we're out of the woods and everything is fine
are we really ever in the clear and is anything ever really mine?
they say people were split in half and those halves are soul mates
maybe we were meant to hate
they say things are never over until they're okay
but things really never are, are they?
they say that their words are true
can I say the same for you?
no.
but guess why.
because everybody lies.
The poem of the mind in the act of finding
What will suffice. It has not always had
To find: the scene was set; it repeated what
Was in the script.
Then the theatre was changed
To something else. Its past was a souvenir.

It has to be living, to learn the speech of the place.
It has to face the men of the time and to meet
The women of the time. It has to think about war
And it has to find what will suffice. It has
To construct a new stage. It has to be on that stage,
And, like an insatiable actor, slowly and
With meditation, speak words that in the ear,
In the delicatest ear of the mind, repeat,
Exactly, that which it wants to hear, at the sound
Of which, an invisible audience listens,
Not to the play, but to itself, expressed
In an emotion as of two people, as of two
Emotions becoming one. The actor is
A metaphysician in the dark, twanging
An instrument, twanging a wiry string that gives
Sounds passing through sudden rightnesses, wholly
Containing the mind, below which it cannot descend,
Beyond which it has no will to rise.
It must
Be the finding of a satisfaction, and may
Be of a man skating, a woman dancing, a woman
Combing. The poem of the act of the mind.

it's 2 am
you are laying
beside me
fast
asleep

when you are
near me
i can still hear
the passing storm
in your
heartbeat
feel the meadows
in your
smile

and darling
i don't think
i have ever
heard
something
so breathtaking

but i swear
sometimes
i
can still
feel
the loneliness
in your
touch
the screams
in your
kisses

they are
ambulance sirens
warning signs
tocsins

yelling
at me
to
evacuate
as quickly
as possible

and darling
i don't think
i have
ever
heard
something
so
frightening
I believe
That writers are
So brave
Because each time
They start writing
Blotting ink onto
Their paper
Frustratingly typing on
Their laptop
Frustratingly typing on
Their laptop
They rip their heart out
Of their chest
And show the world
What it's made of.
His fingers brushed the path of her arm
From wrist to elbow to shoulder
Gradually resting at the nape of her neck

Her head lolled back
Resting its weight in his offered cupped palm
Her breath reduced to a sigh

She briefly closed her eyes
Before pulling away from his touch
And hurriedly walked off in her own direction

No words were said, no declaration,
but his outstretched hand

the wind howls
the moon won't rise
everything shatters
they're broken inside.
music plays
but nobody's listening
voices sing
the fire is blistering.
people argue
things don't change
it's not getting better
just doesn't seem as strange.
life keeps moving
nobody wins
it's not a game
the moment begins.
the crowd seems to roar
but there's nobody there
it all seemed so good once
but there's no one left to care.
it may get better
i'm sure it will
but for now i'm left thinking
while i lie still.
soft music gets louder
the drums begin to sound
a guitar is added in now
this place is crumbling down
yeah
She cant wrap her head
Around the fact
That she cant get her body to move

She cant wrap her head around
A single coherent thought

She cant understand why
Her lungs cant breathe
"Move feet, ******"

She never understood
Emptiness so completely
Until he said
He overcame his addictions
And outgrew her
Written for D.  In the very early days right after he left me.  Note to self.  Addicts are not easy to love.
