Beware of Poets
XIII Apr 2015
Beware of them
As a lover or a friend
As a family or a foe
As a passerby or a neighbor

Because they hide as they stand on the stage
They put you on a mind-boggling maze
They set you on an endless chase
With no one else but with your own tail

Because they shout in silence
They scream using pen
Using only pseudonyms
They want you to both understand and not understand what they mean

Because they conceal as they express
Behind figure of speeches
They'll have you take a guess
When you do, you're already checkmate in chess

Beware of them
Because they are contrasting beings
Living in a world of what-ifs
Living between reality and dreams

Dreams for family, rage for a foe
Feelings for lovers, concern for a friend
Observation in a passerby, rumors from a neighbor
They turn it into words, rhyming at the end

Because they are but they are not
Because they do but they don't
Because they are cowards but they have guts
Because they will but they won't

Because they are two-faced people
Because they are at different places at the same time
Because they push and they pull
Because they have truths and they have lies

Oh beware of them
Because they're simply complicated
Because they're famous yet anonymous
Because they'll always have you choose

Prisoner in the Mirror
XIII Apr 2015
Hey there
I know you've not been well
There are things you're not wiling to share
But I'm aware of it all oh so well

I know all your fears
And I know who you hold dear
I know how you hide tears
Behind those little cheers

I know how you break down
Over songs you sung
Because you tend to over think
About what the future will bring

You hide under your blanket
And use it like a huge handkerchief
Crying without taking a sniff
Crying without moving an inch

You indulge in self-pity and self-blame
Put yourself to shame
Whenever you make petty mistakes
Because of being true to your feelings

You always think you're not good enough
To yourself, you've always been tough
You have disappointed them
That's what's in your system

You once believed you can be selfless
But you've been pounded hard by the unrequited
So you became selfish
But still hurting instead

You write poems to express these
Still, you hide them behind figure of speeches
Metaphor after metaphor
Still, you wish someone will notice

How do I know?
Because when you look at me in the mirror
In your smile, I see sorrow
I see everything you didn't want to show

I wish you could let me out
Because you imprisoned me here
I wish to help you out
And try to cast out your fears

Let me out and I'll tell you you're not perfect
However, you are beautifully unique
They cannot always reciprocate, this you can expect
Because they don't have a heart like yours, so to speak

So set me free, the prisoner in your mirror
I fully understand you, I know this will bring you comfort
I have you see that you're an amazing creature
If no one loves you, that's what I'm here for
"Learning to love yourself; it is the greatest love of all."

To Your Present
XIII Apr 2015
Yes you are!
Why do you think otherwise?
Forget the future and the past
You are the present, you are the now

You may have thousands of foe
But no one can remove you from your throne
No force can revoke
The spotlight is yours

You are the chosen one
She chose you over thousands
Realize the advantage you have
Utilize the power inside

No need to fear
No need for insecurities
Not even jealousy
Neither things you foresee

For they are veils
Used to keep you from knowing
That you are the protagonist, the prince
The one who'll save the heroine

-

*I am writing this to you
Me, the confident version of you
You have probably forgotten about me
So I'll have you take a good look at me

Because I need to end your trilogy
The last one is full of negativity
I'll take the steering wheel and shift gears
I'll take it from here
Poem after "To Your Future".
This serves as the end of the "To Your.." Trilogy.

XIII Mar 2015
You have to drag yourself
Just to keep the dosh coming
To keep kinfolk from starving
Despite all these heavy lifting

You enter that poisonous atelier
Inside a cubicle, sit on your chair
Play staring games with computer screen
Drink a juice of coffee bean

That place, a modern day slavery ring
Where your ego is bruised and badly beaten
They own you 'cause they give you payslips
But even with that you know it ain't worth it

But that place isn't at fault
It's those who own the vault
They keep to them what's inside
They won't share, they hide

Under a mask of kindness
They advertise false incentives
But they won't give what you deserve
'Cause it belongs in their pockets

They won't listen to your pleads
Neither tend to your needs
Silently blackmail you instead
And then there goes your thread

Your thread, closer to inch
Your patience about to ditch
You know you'll burst sooner or later
They'll regret it all, when with them, you're finally over

To Your Future
XIII Mar 2015
I'll take your hand and shake it
Congratulate you and inside my pocket
I'll take a letter that contains this
Little message I call a poem

I'll give it to you and then
I'll probably smile weakly but it's genuine
All my best wishes to you I'll send
Then I'll leave, holding my tears as much as I can

You see I wrote this way back when
She was mine and I was still her present
For some reason something happened
A battle we can never ever win

But anyway the reason I wrote this
For you and for her, but mainly for my peace
Cause there are things you should know, you really need
So jot down notes and to me you should heed

You should learn the art of making surprises
Not to force it to you, but that's what I've started
You should continue, so that she won't feel different
It doesn't matter what kind, just be consistent

Don't write her poems
I would like to leave that gesture as mine
To separate myself from you and from them
To trademark myself in her mind

Understand her vanity, it's what defines her
Support her confidence, don't make it crumble
She'll share this within you, you'll soon discover
So, won't you agree she's the most beautiful?

Be open to her, tell her everything
She likes to tell stories, make sure to listen
Be funny, keep her smiling and laughing
Even if being stupid is what it means

There will be times you'll feel unsure
Just always be reminded of your love for her
Do not let your love and faith falter
As her love for you will vanish next to never

Don't ever hurt her, oh don't you dare
Do remember that I still care
I will have the upper hand in case
You won't have it fair and square

Finally, love her like you'll never love again
Give her your full loyalty and be firm as you can
Because she is worth it and that is what she deserves
You'll never find anyone like her I swear

But still after all I wrote
I prayed that I won't need to pass this letter on
That I'll just keep this letter to myself
And will reread this in the future as a reminder

Because I don't want to leave her side
I don't want to be just her past
I want to be her present and future
And somehow prove that there is forever

However, if you were true
On second thought, I won't be giving this to you
No, because I don't want you to have a clue
Because I'll be bitter if she and I were through

Now, I am not even sure why I'm writing this
Maybe, just in case, I give this warning
To myself and to you, a future intruder
Or maybe, to at least have myself a souvenir
Poem after "To Your Past".

My Double-Edged Sword
XIII Mar 2015
You make me strong and bold
Yet you leave me trembling in cold
You boost my confidence
Yet you are my greatest weakness

You bring out the best in me
Along with my worst for everyone to see
You lift me high up
And then to gravity I succumb

I don't know if you're a friend or a foe
But somehow you managed to be both
A friend to lean on
A foe to challenge upon

You're a blessing and a curse
Oh I'm so blessed to be yours
You cast to me a roller coaster of emotions to burst
And only you hold the spell to break this oath

But please, don't get me wrong
Because I really do love this confusion
Turn me off, turn me on
If it's you, keep it coming, I want more

Every fear is fear from getting hurt.

We fear to love, afraid of rejection and getting hurt.
We fear height because we're afraid of falling and getting hurt.
We fear darkness because of what's probably in there that might hurt us.
We fear certain insects or animals because they might bite and hurt us.

We fear fears because we fear from getting hurt.

Wish upon a Constellation
XIII Jul 2014
Oh my Cassiopeia
My queen; queen of Aethiopeia
Yours is an unrivaled beauty
No one can complain about your vanity

You love me
I love you more
Cepheus your king, how I wish I would be
To be with you forever and sit beside your throne

No, I'm not Cepheus; he probably is yet to come
I wish I'm your Cepheus, but I'm not even an Adam
But I can be your Cepheus if you let me, yes I can
Though I can't see your constellation from where I am

You can boss me around
Toss and turn me upside down
You can throw tantrums, those I won't mind
Forget being king, I'll be fine as your servant

You're a constellation, still I'll make a wish
Can I wish forever? No? Then let me love you at least
Let our love blossom, 'til my last breath vanish
Maybe I'll also become a constellation next to you, like what happened to Ray and Evangeline
Cassiopeia and Cepheus are referenced from mythology.
I bet you all know who's Adam.

I stopped writing stories
Before, writing one was such a bliss
I am lazy, so I hardly finish
But I won't even think of bidding it a goodbye kiss

What is it for?
For mine and my readers' pleasure?

Because I know how it feels to be a character
Here is my resignation to render
I don't know if I won't write stories ever

Poems(') Rhyme

Poems don't always have to rhyme
Not all are salable, you won't have a dime
It'll be forgotten as it passes time
You can only be proud to call it 'mine'

It won't be judged by a critic
Nor passed to a panel like a thesis
No one would proofread it
Nor someone scolding you to remember the basic

But without rhyme, how can you call it a poem?
Shouldn't poems have that beautiful tone?
Play with words to rhyme - a job of a poet
But not all poems that rhymed are the best

It haunts me
Even with my eyes closed or not
Even with tears that hinder my sight
Even if I try to forget with all my might

It haunts me
The image of your ring in my palm
The sound of my heart not being able to keep calm
The echo of my voice silently shouting '****!'

It haunts me
Your emotionless face in my peripheral
The feeling as I get hysterical
The confusion on what not to do and what I shall

It haunts me
The conviction of your words 'We're over'
The backward steps you took as I try to get closer
My feelings that are nowhere near better

It haunts me
How you said not to touch you
How you said not to come near you
How you said 'Move on' and that that's what I should do

It haunts me
The pleads of 'Don't go'
The cries of 'I love you'
The tries to stop you

It still haunts me
Even though the ring is back around your finger
The fear of experiencing it all over again lingers
I'm so afraid that I don't want to remember

It will haunt me
Probably forever
Whether we'll end up together
Or you'll be with another

In life there are puzzles that remained unsolved
Words that were left unsaid even if you're bold
Things you wished for yet you can't get a hold
Things that will keep you thinking, life's too cold

Will the great sun take its chance?
To close the gap of their distance
Towards earth, it'll make its love begun
Which can also result to earth be gone?

If only gravity would be reverted
So that rain won't be the one falling instead
So that the other way can also be tasted
By the one who has always been falling dead?

If a bird and a fish fell for each other
Who's willing to lose its breath to be together?
Wouldn't being apart much better?
Though it'll lead their hearts to death closer

A dog has always been a man's best friend
But even loyalty can have its end
Especially when the master himself can't mend
The longing of a slave to be more than a friend

An author writes what's in his mind
Creates a character of a different kind
Later on wishes for it to exist in real life
Though he knows it won't happen, deep inside

Love is…
XIII Aug 2013
A cat?
I never trusted a cat
Betrayal will only befall to those who do
That’s why I swore to myself not to

I will never trust a cat again
Because I once did
And it only led me to vain
Goodbye to you stupid cat, I bid

That cat was cute
Or so I thought
It acted sweet to me
Making me fall wounded on my knee

I never would have thought
That the first time it called
What it wanted all along was food
Ah, I was fooled

When it was hungry
I generously fed it
But when I can’t give any
It didn’t even doubt to bit

This is now my perspective
Trust is not an option to give
Not to an ungrateful being
That only costs pain and suffering

A lot thinks I’m so bitter
But like in medicines, bitter is better
I’m not closing any doors
I’m just creating a solid wall

Maybe someday something will pass through
Impossibly by crashing ‘because it’ll be hard to do
Climbing it is an option, **** I gave a clue
But what will be willing? Did I just heard a ‘boo’?

I hate what I just found out
Psychologically I was reversing myself, and that
Whatever happened to my wall? Well guess what
Climbing was an easy task for a very exceptional cat

I know, that’s what they call a writer’s block
There’s nothing more in stock
If only I can withdraw some words from a bank

I lied
The processing hasn’t died
I know this is something I should hide
What should I do, maybe just take a deep sigh

My mind is full
To the extent that I’m losing my cool
Ah, I’m such a fool
I feel like I’m using myself as a tool

So much for a writer’s block
Wrong, I’m hitting my head with a rock
With the character I made, I fell in love
This is so stupid, can I go back?

I Want To Be Your Guitar
XIII Aug 2013
Yes, I want to be your guitar
That guitar that you’ve fallen in love with at first glance
You can’t let it go; you’ve already carved its features in your heart
I would steal its position, if I only had the chance

You tried averting your eyes from it and looked for other one
It was expensive after all, you can’t afford one
But you did all means in the end, just to have it in your hands
If it was me, would you have done everything you can?

Finally, it was all yours, I was happy for you
With that even brighter beaming smile, who would not?
You started spending time together, like a couple would do
And then I started doubting, I am happy for you, right?

You brought it home and even slept with it
Ah! I was so envious, how I wish those arms were wrapped around me
The two of you under the rain, walking against the wind
Whereas I can only write our names under an umbrella, wishing it can be you and me

I dedicated all love songs to you as you composed your songs for it
Expressing your overflowing love, your undying happiness, it was all packaged in the songs
And though I was so hurt, your songs are always on repeat
Listening and undergoing the same excruciating pain all day long

I’m a mere fan, with a paper and a pen on both hopeless hands
You’re shining brightly on the stage with your guitar, a wonderful superstar
I wonder when this stupidity started, but this poem was made because of this great distance
If this unrequited, one-sided feeling will someday reach you, I’ll tell you, I want to be your guitar
Dedicated to Yui Hirasawa of K-On!

Should your poem contain a lot of formulas?
Should you know how to multiply, divide, subtract and add?
Should you know the derivative of this and the derivative of that?
Should you memorize the multiplication table from one to a thousand?

Will your words sound jargon?
Will your rhyming seems out of tune?
Will your metaphor be unseen like a blue moon?
Will your piece land on the trash can very soon?

Should you discuss the ratio of your words and love?
Should you round off the message your poem have?
Should you pinpoint what is lesser than or above?
Should you define the poem’s ***** and its aftermath?

Will that number cruncher be able to read between the lines?
Will the verses relate up until the genius’ heart’s vines?
Will the logical and emotional hemisphere be able to bind?
Will the sonnet be able to convey it’s meaning through its sign?

If you are a poet and you love a mathematician
Those things are probably running on your mind
The difference in forte, will it ban
A blossoming attraction between two different kinds

Sum it all up, all your feelings inside
Write it all down, like how you calculate in a scratch
Don’t forget any, like a whole number without a dot
Double check it, you wouldn’t want misunderstanding right?

Don’t be irrational, like some numbers are
Don’t measure and compare, like graphs’ bar
Be precise as possible, but you don’t have to hit the bull’s eye
Still do some cliffhanging, and let the person analyze

They say opposites do attract
Everyone differs so why worry about those questions above?
Just express what you feel, write what you want
I’m sorry I’m a poet; I wanted this piece to be long enough

To Your Past

I thank you for being her past
And for not making it last
For all the heartaches you cast
For being her eyes’ ***** dust

I thank you for making her like you
To be close to the one you love true
In a short time you made her fall for you
Even though your intentions weren’t true

I thank you for all her friends who turned their backs on her
Also to those friends you hurt whom she hold dear
Thank you because she held back liters of tears
Because of you, she gained a lot of fears

I thank you for taking advantage of her weakness
Because of that you had her first kiss
She was fond of that memory the least
To the extent that she wanted it all to be erased

I thank you for making her like and love someone as useless as you
I can say I’m better than you with a slight difference in value
Because in front of her or not, I always stay true
Even if it took a long time, I waited for her to say I do

I thank you, for she found her real friends
Those who won’t ever leave no matter what happens
She treasured more those who stayed in every means
She knew who were for keeps, and it all made sense

I thank you for that ugly first kiss
No worries, I replaced it with more bliss
It was so magical; she considered it her first
I sealed her lovely lips with my lips

I thank you for all those hard times
She became much stronger after leaving it all behind
I became her outlet, to me she sometimes cries
But I make sure after that, she’ll brightly smile

I thank you, you who almost got a wonderful girl in your hand,
You probably had the girl, who any man would want
That’s why I thank you for not giving a ****
To the girl who I truly love with my soul, heart and mind

When She's...
XIII Jul 2013
When your poem doesn’t work
Or you cliché lines make you look like a dork
Neither your sweet words got her head turn
It seems you were so hot and her tongue got burned

When she didn’t react with what you said
Though for her heart to throb, it was meant
When it wasn’t brought on topic yet
Maybe it was too worthless she forget

When she’s not in the mood to reply back
When it seems you’re talking to someone whose mouth is shut
When simple smileys from her are all you got
When you messaged her a whole lot

Fear not and keep calm
Maybe most of it is all in your mind
Stay cool and try to understand
Be reminded to be as patient as you can

“She’s probably busy
But she even sought time to text a smiley”
Chant that to yourself and be as positive as you can be
Because getting emotional isn’t the key

Take time to ask her what’s wrong
You’ve probably done something without knowing so
If that’s the case, whisper a “Sorry” or sing a song
Make her feel that you’ll never let her go

It’s better to trust then regret
Than doubt then regret
“I love you”, in those words of her, you should always place your bet
Believe in her instead of your weak speculations, that, you shouldn’t forget

Our Room
XIII Jul 2013
I was sitting on a chair
Directly blowing to me is air
Brown is the color of my hair
But that has nothing to do with this tale

With music playing, I write a poem
I am silently thinking alone
I remembered it was my dream to have a room
Which I can call my own

Less the music, the silence was deafening
But I can take it, because I’m waiting
While I sing, I know they’re on their way coming
Back to our room, my beloved siblings

The Draft
XIII Jul 2013
The author took a break
To search for more ideas to take
But something came in an unexpected way
That changed the way he can relate

The author again, paused
Rereads again, the drafted poem
Did his break take very long?
For he can't seem to grasp the point

Was it him who wrote that?
He asked himself as he stress-fully sat
He confirmed it was indeed him but,
He fully understood, but now he can't

He thinks hard, really hard
On the wooden table in front
He hits his head with a bang
Then eureka! How can he forgot?

There it was on the tip of his tongue
It was hiding, but it was never gone
He stood up lazily upon a call from someone
Maybe the drafted poem should remain drafted for it to be done
