In the shine of a summer's day
Standing alone in an open field
Alone with the clouds and passing birds
The grass swaying to their song
One wonders what they say

One among many
A soul among plenty
Wondering what the day shall yield

To bring great emotion into words
Is to pull from the sea
But a single creature
from the deepest of trenches
Hoping it is whole, not divided into thirds
Of the grandeur it could be

Alas, here where the grass grows long
There is not a sea,
But an endless sky
On a peaceful summer day.

Thinking about a lovely summer's day.

Disguised beneath layers ever so seamless
Sewn together with intricate pattern and stitch
Embroidered smiles and elaborate costumes
Well rehearsed, prepped and ready for performance
Play the cards, pluck the strings, sing the songs
Play the parts, put on the grandest of shows

The funniest thing is that not a one knows
The amount of rights and wrongs
The close proximity, yet vast distance
How hands ache, shake, and twitch
Some think it to be needless
But never could that be further from the truth

Each and every door within each and every floor
Of the corridors of my mapless mind
The maze that it is
Holds puzzles, pieces, and clues
To the one hidden just beneath the surface
Dreaming of once again seeing the light
After after such plight

Every mask
Every side
Delicate fabrics and fragile seams
Sewn with trembling hands
Guide an inexplicable force
Perhaps a strange task
Hidden among wildest dreams
Set for an unknown course

With each that falls away
Another takes their place
A mysterious entity
Behind the face
Beneath the handiwork of the seamstress
Sewing and patching every hole
Desperate for every layer to stay
Remain no matter the cost
All for what purpose?
What is it that they hide,
That they hold so near and dear?
Such is unknown,
Or perhaps forgotten
Lost in the course of time

Pulchra Persona, Latin for "Beautiful Mask". I keep leaving things lying around and forgetting to add them here.

Child, she sleeps
Lady, she weeps
Secrets family keeps
To remain as they are
Wish upon a falling star

Dream, little one
Of where you wish to be
Of the life ahead that you see
Before the night is done

Dream, tired one
Of where you wish to be
Of the freedom ahead, across the sea
Your job is not yet done

Dreams, though far,
Can fall to Earth from a lucky star
Do not give up on who you are

Dream your dreams, big and small. You never know when you will see them all come true- when you will bring them to life.

As the night wears on
As the mind wanders
Ponders what is to come
A heart yearns, it longs
For words of comfort
Even if they are uncertain
The fact they could be spoken
Brought to life, to weary ears
Would put one at ease

Words can be comfort, a great one at that- surely a poet would know.

It's strange
How the myths
Tell of reality in such parallel
Speaking, preaching of a greater force
When in fact that force is found within
When we truly realize the simple
Yet utterly complex truths

Nothing is set in stone, but in mind
We are in control of our own actions
Our choices domino, and affect others
Even in ways we could not possibly imagine

Life is the ultimate gift;
The fact of not knowing what comes
After we have passed on and our soul departs
Makes our lives all the more meaningful

The meaning of life
Is as simple and complex as that;
Life
To breathe, to move, to learn,
To listen, to grow, and to know

Face the hardships,
Endure the pain,
Learn from failure
Learn from the pain
To become stronger
To become better
Than those before you

To create a better world
Or perhaps see what lies before you
Heal the damage that has been done
Heal the broken bones of the world
To regrow, to be stronger than before
For life to once again thrive
Just the way it should

That is the truth of life that I have realized over time. Though I am young, I have learned much more about life than I realized.

When the rain pours at midnight
When the melodies carry through the stillness
When tears cannot dare to escape pained eyes
When hearts ache with a grip in their chests
Do they know of one another?

All across the land and sea
Though not a soul could see
Bare witness to the agony within
The hour the darkness threatens to win
To close around tormented souls

Do they know of the others
All caught within the expanse of the void
Silence or noise, either could smother
The soldier, unknowingly deployed?

Somehow, always late into the night, many fall into their darkest or more mystifying thoughts.

A song sung
A bell not yet rung
Melody in tune
Possibly from past June
To come once more
Through the creaky door
Through long empty corridor

School starts next Monday, and...it's strange, but I guess it's about time. Not sure if I'm ready for it, to be surrounded by so many people and forced into social interactions, but oh well. Hoping for the best.
