Writing a poem
Is like speaking my mind
Only, it slows me down
Until words I can find
I take my time
And speak my truth
And sooner or later
It comes back to my youth
When I lived freely
Not a care in the world
Played all day on the street
Just jumped and twirled
Until tired I fell
To the ground in a heap
Laid my head down just so
And soon fell asleep
And dreamed of a world
Where I could play
With freedom from strife
And fear pushed away
But life is not like that
When we get old
There are things to accomplish
We can’t be so bold
So some of the dreams
Are put away for a while
And things I must do
I begin to compile
Until all has been done
And my time here is over
Then play, I can do
Until time to changeover
The wonderful everlasting

Is ever changing

A constant metamorphosis

Higher and higher

For what living soul

Is ever truly bound to

Words

And what great ocean

Couldn’t take it all

Even bitterness and salt

So why fear this love

As ever, perhaps more

Humble and devoted

With all of its flaws

Please

Take a leap of faith with me

You might finally rise

When you take this fall

For what miracle is there

If you only walk the walk

Quiet, mundane, unchanging

Walked by all

I sat there watching the ocean waves gently caressing the sun
As the sun sat gallantly on its surface
A perfect union to behold
I needed not to be told
What a beauty nature is!

we do not write poetry
we write mirrors
which are held up
to curious faces
who read
looking for their
own reflections
Don't miss the
Beauty of the sunsets
By trying to
Outrun the dark.

take my hand and don’t let go
hold God’s hand with your other
give no attention to what you hear
it is only murmurs of lies
words which are of no substance
the sounds of phantoms
they want to destroy you
to cause unbearable pain
to everyone you love
do not listen
please

do not let go with either hand
so that you cannot take
the hand of Death
when it is offered
For my friend, Tim. Who, two Saturdays ago, let go of a hand.

She was like music,
and I longed to dance.

Her heart was the beat,
and I begged for the chance.

Her words were the vocals,
and I was put in a trance.

Her smile was the melody,
and I fell in love at first glance.

I will be waiting for him,
At the end of the world.
Where the stars don't shine,
And there is no sun.
Where the sky isn't blue,
And the wind doesn't blow.
Where people are not found,
And the birds don't fly.
Where the land comes to an end,
And the sea doesn't begin.
Where love can't be seen,
And hatred can't be heard.
Where life is lost,
And death is not found.
Where I can't speak,
And he can't hear.
Where I tell left,
And he walks to the right.
Where the day doesn't end,
And the night doesn't begin.
Where everything is dark,
And darkness is too bright.
Where I cry for him,
And he smiles for me.
Where I become weak,
And he becomes strong.
Where we finally kiss,
And yet don't touch.
So when the night comes,
I'll be waiting for him,
At the end of the world.
