"detains" poems
Love trusts, lust twists
Love rains, lust drains
Love reaches, lust catches
Love couples, lust combines
Love retains, lust detains
Love relies, lust relays
Love cares, lust caresses
Love binds, lust blinds
Love floats, lust flees
Love belongs, lust longs
Love ascends, lust descends
Love fames, lust defames
Love creates, lust recreates
Love commands, lust demands
Love chooses, lust chases
Love boosts, lust boasts
Love at heart
Lust in mind
Love in lust is good
Lust in love is better
Love likes privacy
Lust looks for piracy
Love opens lust
Lust closes love
Love is slow, lust is fast
Love is steady and stable
Lust is mobile and fragile
Love is reliable, lust is liable
Love is long, lust is short
Love is homogeneous
Lust is heterogeneous
Love is defensive
Lust is offensive
Love is precious
Lust is pernicious
Love is supportive
Lust is supplementary
Love is refined
Lust is defined
Love betters life
Lust batters it.
Love has character
Lust has conduct
Love wins over
Lust weans out
Love combines
Lust divides
Love is cool
Lust is crazy
Love is peaceful
Lust is pleasant
Love is wholesome
Lust is piecemeal
Lust comes first
Love becomes best
Love is progressive
Lust is aggressive
Lust laminates
Love illuminates
Love is slow n steady
Lust is hasty n nasty
Love is dense, lust is tense
Lust is conditioned,
Love is air-conditioned
Lust is lovely to begin with
Love is lustrous to end up
Love heals, lust wounds
Love owns, lust disowns
Love is onus, lust is onerous
Love is basic, lust is allowance
Love conforms, lust confuses
Love binds, lust blinds
Be aware of love
Beware of lust
That comes like
wolf in sheep’s clothing
Let the fair blend
of love and lust
rule the roost

An Indian girl was sitting where
Her lover, slain in battle, slept;
Her maiden veil, her own black hair,
Came down o'er eyes that wept;
And wildly, in her woodland tongue,
This sad and simple lay she sung:
"I've pulled away the shrubs that grew
Too close above thy sleeping head,
And broke the forest boughs that threw
Their shadows o'er thy bed,
That, shining from the sweet south-west,
The sunbeams might rejoice thy rest.
"It was a weary, weary road
That led thee to the pleasant coast,
Where thou, in his serene abode,
Hast met thy father's ghost:
Where everlasting autumn lies
On yellow woods and sunny skies.
"Twas I the broidered mocsen made,
That shod thee for that distant land;
'Twas I thy bow and arrows laid
Beside thy still cold hand;
Thy bow in many a battle bent,
Thy arrows never vainly sent.
"With wampum belts I crossed thy breast,
And wrapped thee in the bison's hide,
And laid the food that pleased thee best,
In plenty, by thy side,
And decked thee bravely, as became
A warrior of illustrious name.
"Thou'rt happy now, for thou hast passed
The long dark journey of the grave,
And in the land of light, at last,
Hast joined the good and brave;
Amid the flushed and balmy air,
The bravest and the loveliest there.
"Yet, oft to thine own Indian maid
Even there thy thoughts will earthward stray,--
To her who sits where thou wert laid,
And weeps the hours away,
Yet almost can her grief forget,
To think that thou dost love her yet.
"And thou, by one of those still lakes
That in a shining cluster lie,
On which the south wind scarcely breaks
The image of the sky,
A bower for thee and me hast made
Beneath the many-coloured shade.
"And thou dost wait and watch to meet
My spirit sent to join the blessed,
And, wondering what detains my feet
From the bright land of rest,
Dost seem, in every sound, to hear
The rustling of my footsteps near."

He found out today that the little girl he called his daughter wasnt his
He's lost. And heartbroken so he confronts the woman who is
Supposedly and suppose to be
The one who's openly honest
But now heading south from
wedding bells and from the promise
Made in there vows as they vowed
Not to be
Deceitful but all people are capable
Of an evil. Deed
So as he yells and demands she
Stand before him and say
The name of who detains the title of
A man who stained with DNA
Their marriage to disparage the love that they had
And as he goes silent his wife in
Tears says. U are her dad
Cause u are the one who stayed up
All night when she was sick
Your the one she calls daddy and
If your not biologically it
By our daughter won't see it is
Like that in any way
She will only see the man she gave
Butterfly kisses to and gave
Cards that she made on your birthday and may
Not be blood to u but still comes to u
Every Father's Day
To hug u and love u and what can u
Remember
That ever showed otherwise
All I can say is forever
I will regret all I bet
And lost while I gambled
Our love, our marriage and family
The secret wasnt easy to handle
But if u chose to leave its fine I
Deserve it but plz stop
And realize with no angry thought
That what I deserve she does not
And as he swears to tell their now 12 year old daughter he leaves
To pick her up at school and when he does in the car she sneezed
And said she felt sick, and then said with a laugh
I might be sick but I don't mind because dad like u always have
U will bring me soup in bed and kiss my forehead and that
Always makes me feel better
Plus u do anything I ask
and he laughs with her knowing he is a servant when she's sick
And as they get home the car stops
And he says I think
I should tell u something important
Cuz it's better u know
And as she looks in his eyes with
Innocence she nods her head as to say go
And as he starts to cry their hands meet and hold once they touch
And he says... It's important u know... That I love u so much...

Blank faces walk past me
A visual elegy
In the morning past the city streets
Yet everyone persists so dimly
The overcast retracts the colour from my sight
As if it is midnight
And traces, shapes of phases
My shoelaces untangle themselves and I fall
Flat
The phasing interrupts my morning stroll
Predators on the prowl
Clad in amber
Stalking through the morning night mass
Hearts locked, empty locket
Deafening the peace in its trail
Chasing my tail and once I'm had
It detains me, immobilises me, I am
Caught
The city of black and white
Has no time for shades of grey
And yet the vivid colours bond
But yet I tripped
And in the black and white streets
I was trapped in technicolor

- my duvet once hugged me, now it morphs
into chains
that coil my bones to themselves and fix my fingertips to my fists and I swing my arms behind me clasped.
anything to keep you clean out of my system you see.
the night which once was dreams,
now a prison.
the solitude confining me in shrinking walls and a drying mouth whilst my eyes tear open by the pounding crave.
the red slithers through their frail veins until the aching urge sends them to close;
to sleep.
morning you lie vestel. but your taste lumbering in my gum
- I wouldn’t say I’m an addict:
but you make it far too easy when you lie in the palms of my hands and dance in electric through my skin.
your hopeless pervading detains me from rehabilitation.

walk barefoot,
on the sand of a thousand needles
disincline to rue,
detains all the blue
Pull through by himself
the greatest in my life,
strongest god of war,
my dad

Tonight I'll open the window, just a smidgen,
I'll turn on my night light, and I'll take off my covers,
With any luck, the snow, in it's serene beauty, will cover me,
With any luck, the perfect unique snowflake will dance to my bed
Colder, like something from a memory I had,
A younger self in a northern place, trouncing in snow,
Fighting the accumulation like I was meant to do so,
Then falling down, sinking, and letting the snow protect me,
So I invite the snow, offer my condolences, and allow it in,
Let it lazily make it's way over my body,
Let it's touch envelope me, make me aware of it's presence,
Let it crystallize and solidify around my meager form,
And let the days pass, whilst I sleep,
Allow time to trod on, in my absence,
Force my absence, so that frozen water may heal my mind,
And let me come back at my own pace, on my own time,
Even Colder still, my mind flees from the scene,
My body is numb to the white fluff that detains me,
My memory etches a figure standing, staring, misunderstanding my intent,
My heart slows down
But no days pass, I cannot sleep,
Time does not quicken, as if it would matter anyways,
I am present, mostly, but deaf to a lot,
So I'll close my window and grab my blanket and try to sleep

One more mistake
I’ve made today.
How many ways
loving you wrong.
A fathers time;failed,
I have.
Causing you pain
is what I’ve done.
Desire I leave,
was your request,
To live your life
As you saw best.
Yet,fear,detains me,
If this I am sure.
To be once more
loving you wrong.
