What is sleep?
It's 1979 again
And I'm in Atari's Astroids
Caught in the laser beam
And no matter how
Many electric sheep
I count
There's no going back
To Pillowland
Midnight City is open
So are the caffeinated veins
Running thru
My nocturnal console
Night shifts have me
Splintered in my head
Let's see how I score
On the Athens scale

I thought we would be happier if we stuck together,
But every day I have more doubt that we'll last forever.

I hate that we seem more like two drifters,
Than being anywhere close to sisters.

It dawns...

She ponders...

It wanders...

Goes yonder...

Back it saunters...

Her thought process...

Sometimes is...
Beyond her
The poem writing process point of view. I don't know why, it just is.

I always wondered
How far I could go
If I ran and left home
How much could I take
Before I would break..

Now I always wander
Keep drifting further
Away from that place
Without the pain
Eclipsing me..

I'm floating along with the sea
The water enveloping me
I trust that she knows the way
As I fall apart under her waves
Wandering...

Wander alone, for once
Wander about,
on this earth
you don't quite understand

Take a nap on the sea,
for once
feel the cold water
being warmed by the sun

Sleep by the banyan tree,
for once
watch as the snake slither
under your feet

By then you'll hear whispers;
someone else inside you
Yourself, but not you,
saying things you dare not speak
Of pronanities, maybe
or of sorrow
your deepest wish, perhaps
of not waking up the next morning

So wander alone, for once

You are traveling
To the place with pansies and tulips
On the bus
In solace..

You are seating by the window seat
Waving to strangers passing by
Gazing to faraway land
Fluttering your hair in the wind filled with mystery
Smiling stupidly thinking
I am by your side
Listening to music I made for you
Picturing the art I made with you..

I am seating on the road watching you
By the window seat
Your bus zooms down the country road
That'll take you home
And as far as I can see
And as far as my eyes can see
I won't stop looking for you…

She wanders at the edge of her existence,
her mind long overgrown with wild nettles.
Her heart’s lost in an opalescent distance

where the moon spins into cobwebs as she listens.
Her heart beats like a war drum, then resettles.
She wanders at the edge of her existence

and stumbles on a winding path that glistens
with blooming garden beds and bleeding petals.
Her heart’s lost in an opalescent distance

to reach a rose-gold sun that slowly christens
the day into a burst of blues and metals.
She wanders at the edge of her existence,

the willows bowing at the sun’s insistence.
While waiting to see where the shadow settles,
her heart’s lost in an opalescent distance.

She recites epics to her heart, but if it listens,
it remains concealed among the moss and nettles.
She wanders at the edge of her existence,
her heart lost in an opalescent distance.

Running was never new to me.
Different places,
Different people,
Unfamiliar smells and unfamiliar buildings.
When things became too familiar,
Recognizing street signs,
Familiar names,
Memories and places etched into the back of my mind,
I move again.
Pain is an ever accompanying acquaintance,
A travel partner that never fails to remind me that I am,
In fact,
Always running from something.
