Echoes Of A Mind Sep 2015
Silence...
is the only thing I hear
Darkness...
is the only thing I see

But there's no fear
since there's only peace
here underwater
where i'm floating half asleep.

Slowly...
I close my eyes
Still underwater
and lured by the peace
I finally fall asleep...
Remember when you're underwater and everything is just silently peaceful?
Peace there is underwater and a warning that even the peace can lure you to your last breath.

You put on your bathing suit.
You make sure that nothing gets wet more than it needs to.
You take a deep breath.

The cold will definitely sting.
And it does.

The first few strokes are effortless,
You know for sure that you will make it across.
But then you open your eyes underwater,
And see the blue shifting and fading
With the moonlight.
And suddenly, the lines on the floor of the pool
Start to blur.
The lines leading  you there
Start to blur.

You can see how far everyone else has come,
But measuring your own progress,
Finding out how far you have come
From where you started to wherever you are now,
Is **** near impossible.
The water still shifts and fades,
And entices you in the
Intimacy that stretches from the earth to the moon.

For how long?
For how long will you keep kicking your legs?
For how long will you keep waving your arms about?
For how long, exactly,
Will your head come up
And breathe?

And even if you reach the end,
Even if you get out of the water;
Even though you made sure that nothing got more wet than it needed to:
Your hair will still be dripping,
Your eyes will still sting.
Remember, even when you're drowning, just take a deep breath. You'll find a way to float.

When there are no cards left to play,
We start a new game.
There's never a winner,
Just two broken hearts and
Smiles that don't crinkle the eyes.
Do you remember when I buried my face in the plaid cotton of your shirtsleeve and cried,
'What do you want from me?'
'Everything,' you whispered into my mouth,
Your voice muffled as if we were breathing underwater,
Though we were both unprepared to drown.
Darling, if only we'd realized that when you took it all,
There'd be nothing left for me.
Submerged underwater—stayed right there,
letting my body loose and my eyes slowly open.
I took a breath and watched as the bubbles
escape from my nostrils—I could clearly see this
vast blue ocean before me as I drift away from
All I Once Knew.
Sunk back to the phase of being kept in the womb
My mind has now been refreshed, awaken.

Lake Michigan sand rests within my bones;
it slows the timing of my heart
and scratches the vowels
budding on my wet tongue.

I imagine waiting for you
on a bench of ghosts
with coffee and binoculars,
observing the rush of continuous
flutter as seagulls settle
and then unsettle, as indecisive
as the mottled lake.

The afternoon light is brisk,
pulls my breath like a buoy chain--
my heart sounds like it's underwater,
     its beats drive the tide
that draws you, like an undertow, to me.

I see your face
Distorted by water
But as I breathe out,
I see nothing but bubbles
Then everything is gone
*And all I see is blue
I found a website with poem ideas and so I wrote down like 15.

You wouldn't be able to tell if their were tears running down my face.
I'm in no ordinary place,
I'm surround in this large case
There's no air,
There is a a light above,
"I stare"
I wonder if I could be seen,
if you would care...

Underwater I am there,
I can no longer bare
My heart pounds,
As a sound of a helpless life drowns
But I will not be a mount of sand
For I will float to the top
By the time my heart stops

the sea was never so still
as the night i spilled my guts
in the sink from vanilla pills
and laughed at my immortality

when i scream underwater
the blue screams back to me
in my maraschino heart
i know one thing to be true:
that the cooing and the howling
will never leave the ocean floor
and fall upon the waiting ears
of those who i meant it for

A whole new world
Totally unexpected
beautiful creatures,
Swimming with me
Showing me the way.
