Away with Words Dec 2024
Celcius slips; 𝘴𝘶𝘣-𝘻𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘦𝘥
by the world's growing cold.
Soon, snow surrounds me,
buries me;

𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺.

SʜᶦᵛᴱriᴺG, as a spotlight sun
seldom shares me its shine.
Trapped within trappings
far too ragged and thin;

𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹.

Finding only frigid faces
hidden behind frozen masks.
Unconcealed, without costume,
cursing their clay-cast cadence;
I turn my back to their turned backs.

Fearing their foreign words
might blind me;

𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝙗𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝗺𝗲.

So I grow where nothing’s sown
a proximity without 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘺

My frozen fingers
failed to feel my heart finally numb.
In its place, an empty space.
Looking for leftover love

Sueño con una Navidad correcta y alegre
Nunca sueño con una Navidad blanca o nevada
Es muy resbaladizo y traicionero cuando nieva
Para ir a la iglesia uso zapatos de cuero
Y es fácil caerse y lastimarse
No quiero romper tu corazón
¡Oh, Jo, Jo, Jo! Me encanta una Navidad correcta y alegre.

snow was falling from up the heavens
her tongue filled with snowflakes
leaving a chilly surprise in her mouth
unlike the her peers who adore this season
she despised it with all her heart
but when her peers asked “why didn’t you just stay home then?”
she couldn’t give a answer
one day she was walking in the snow
every step she made she started to whine
complaining about how the snow was pulling her down to the deeps of the earth
the cold breeze didn’t help either
slapping her face back and forth with chills
but the last thing she want to do was go back to where she escaped from
so she took a liter from her jacket
and lit a cigarette to her mouth
the smoke release from her lips gently
silencing the breeze for only a moment
she continued on her walk
when she reaches her destination
streetlights were shining like ornaments hanging on a Christmas tree
for a second she admired them
until she heard a honk sound
she enters into her taxi
then look at window with tired eyes
“So where are you going to ma’am?”
the taxi driver asked
“Somewhere warm, or maybe somewhere far away, just a place that isn’t home”
she replied with an empty smile

Candy cane dust
on the rim of my cup.
Burning sweetness
a burst of holiday.
When I finish
and lick the rim clean,
back home, where
no decorations hang,
no tree stands tall,
no family awaits my return.
My only present,
the candy cane dust
left on my tongue

Pure white whispers fall,
soft embrace on black branches—
Winter's breath lingers.

Enormous oak stands,
silent witness to the peaks,
shadows blend with light.

Between two giants,
snow and silence weave their song,
timeless, cold, serene.
Unfortunately we don't get any on my island, but this is what I imagine.
Happy weekend fellow poets.
Finally it's over,
This year is gone, snow falling,
Covers the trees again.
Goodbye 2024, I can't say I'm going to miss you, but I'm glad you came. :)

Eager snowflakes fall
Happily dancing on wind
Melting once they land

Power flexes
downward:

a hulking, indifferent
appendage

obscene in its
obviousness,

but the obviousness is the
point,

you remind
me.

This latest one was only twenty-
six

and seemingly healthy, but no
matter—

in Hokkaido by now the
larches

have all dropped their
needles,

and the fumaroles of Mount
Asahidake

still hiss, even while
covered

in heaps of snow. I wish
that

you could take me there. I
wish

that we could set
off

into that pale oblivion and never
return,

immersed for the rest of our
days

in the frigid, accurate
waters

of Nature’s
reality.

But she has no dominion
here,

you remind
me,

and we are all just tourists in this place
anyhow,

sidling beneath cornices and sidestepping
crevasses

aslope an angry volcano in
winter,

that warm, glowing lodge at its
foot

seemingly never
drawing

any
closer.

fat red berries cling,
snow breathes white upon their glow,
winter's quiet fire.

In silent woods where whispers freeze,
The breath of night kisses the breeze.
Trees stand like sentries cloaked in white,
Their branches bowing, in graceful plight.

The breath of winter, crisp and clear,
Wraps all in silence, drawing near.
A silver quilt covers sleeping ground,
As snowflakes drift and twirl around.

Beneath the moon's observant gaze,
Winter shrouds time in a sparkling haze.
The world sleeps under frosted dreams,
Where moonlight weaves its silver beams.

As frost paints scenes upon the night.
Where stars like diamonds shimmer bright.
Nature's art hangs in crystal chains,
A masterpiece in all that remains.
