You bought your test and passed your ticket
While I was kneeling by your spell
There might be no rest for the wicked
But I've been sleeping quite well
Spent an evening a while back coming up with rhymes and poems with a nice girl. This is one of the results.

When the world implodes and burns from the inside, I will not fear God
I will hear the prayers of folks fallen to their knees
Calling out to you
Calling out your name
In begging for mercy
Clemency
Fear
Fear of death
That soon would swallow them whole
As the earth devours itself
But I will not fear you
I will not
So be it the planet dies
So be it it crumbles beneath my feet
So be it I shall die too
So be it the death I shall go through is slow and painful
So be it I will scream in anguish and agony as the life drains out of me
So be it the hundred, thousand hands grasping my ankles
Calling out to me to kneel before you
Crying out to me to beg before you
For your forgiveness
To be spared from retribution
To be spared from the cackling fires of Hell
I will not kneel before you
I will not ***** my knees for you
I will not cover them in bruises and mud for you
I will not bow my head in silence for you
I will not silence my voice and thoughts for you
I will not cower under your stare
I will not fear you.
You are nothing to me

Can't remember last time
I knelt down to dig in the dirt
but I do recall all us boys who'd climb
the sandy loam pile in the yard

to make castles, caves and highways
and let our fantasies reign -
oh what glorious days
when fun was simple and plain.

We cared not about smudges
holey pants or muddy feet
had not learned about grudges
nor become expert in deceit

hadn’t yet been betrayed
enough to live in hurt
and conjure all the ways
we could spite and spread dirt.

Maybe every now and again
I'd benefit from kneeling down
and digging deeper grain by grain
in earthy dirt - to find my being’s ground.

our names
all
originally written
into
the Book of Life

the days of our living
they ebb and flow
choices
are ours

His choice
was made known
before time began

He allows
our joys and sorrows
to remind us
always

that He is there
always

He is the loving
long-suffering
yearning
Father

the One with aching open arms

encouraging us
to make the choice
to keep our name
in that Book of Life

He never forces us
to choose

our greatest choice

the surrendering

and the kneeling
.................

Our choosing must be done out of love, not fear.
God is pure love
Receive Him today,
Take His hand
make the choice
to walk...and kneel.
