If I ever get the chance to meet the devil
I only want to ask him one thing

"What is it like to suffer immortality?"
Phil Lindsey Jan 2017
I dream not of immortality,
But of being less insignificant than some,
Not of being loved by all,
But of being liked by those I’ve met,
Not of changing the world,
But of leaving it unchanged for the better.
For there are many who will have the world changed,
For better or for worse,
Or for no reason at all.

As a king builds a temple in his own honor,
So does a dog establish dominion by peeing on a tree;
The next king builds a larger temple, and
The next dog pees higher on the tree.
It takes only a war, or a rainstorm, or the simple passing of time
To shift the balance of power, for
There will always be another king,
There will always be another dog,
And there will always be another rainstorm.

A baby cries for attention.
He cries, “I am hungry,” or
“I am tired,” or
“I have peed myself.”
And because he is helpless,
We feed him, and we hold him, and we change his diaper.
A poet also cries for attention.
But unlike the baby, his cries are often ignored,
For we do not understand what it is that he wants.

I dream not of a perfect world,
But of a world where there is more good than evil,
More peace than war,
And more joy than tears.
A world where kings build temples for babies,
Where forests and trees are abundant,
And where poets rejoice because their cries are understood.
I dream not of immortality,
But of being less insignificant than some.

May your dreams and prayers be answered in 2017!

We seek The Purpose of Life,
Or just some Meaning;
A Philosophy,
As we stare through the formless mists of time.
Yet Existence simply Is,
As is Life:
Wondrous phenomenon
That happens.

We are taught to give each thing a function:
The wheel that rolls us on,
A pen which writes.
But Life is Life
Nothing more.
Generations take turns to live,
Passing on the baton.

Trying to breed ever greater Minds,
We yearn to be Immortal.
Studying those regenerating jellyfish,
The search is on
For The Fountain of Youth.

Yet maybe it’s time to stop trying
To make sense of it all.
Perhaps it’s time to spring into action,
And Get On With It.

Walking sanity
along the boundaries of hell,
a song for heaven
Lawan Nov 2016
My head hurts, my sight blurs
Quietly i loose consciousness.
My heartbeat breaks, i am choking
Shamefully i loose myself in thoughtfulness.

I sit and watch my hands transform
my thoughts to written words--

How proudly I deny honest truths
a little space in my deluded forehead
And how desperately I cling to life
scared I might just now draw my last breath.

Such is the complete state of man;
When sickness brings him to the brink of death
he remembers the unkind odds that lent him life
But when he is strong and able
he remembers himself immortal.
(mortal body, immortal soul.)

Death can't bring about life but that wasn't so in Jesus's case.
When he died, it brought about immortality for the Human Race.
Because of Jesus's death, the dead will not perish, they will live forever.
People will be reunited with their dead loved ones, they will once again be together.
Jesus's death brings life to those who die and that is ironic.
When I think about what Jesus did for mankind, it's harmonic.

I dreamt of Immortality
So that in not dying
I could keep my lying
As you suckle on my truth

And this fountain pen
Doesn't flow with youth
Crooked smiles can't rebuke
My times coming to an end

Spiraling down, twisted frowns
Crawling for corruption's crown
May the ink burn the message clear
These broken words scream fear

Winds howling on dark ice,
Her wings flutter across the aquamarine sky,
Icebergs and hailstorms are her feathers,
Blizzards rage for eons till the nether.

To live forever and never die rich men cry
Feebly unaware we all must pass on to what the afterlife bares
They seek potions and fountains galore setting aside family and happiness proclaiming "If i can make it so we never die well then connect and live our life" many have searched none succeeded lifetimes wasted love ones pleaded let this be a message for those that seek to never grow old true immortality truly lives in the memory and souls you help grow
Love your life and every minute after we don't live forever so make it count
It started out great not a problem to be faked didn’t have the best life, yeah I lived in fear played it by ear, hiding the tear, my house lived in ruins destruction at the very least, to god I’d plead, save my soul, save us all, but it all kept coming, yeah the death kept coming, nothing stood in the way anymore, guess I better start pleading more.

In the end when we would all die, I’d stand facing the sky, nothing takes me down, immortality within my crown, Lucifer fear me, satan hear me, I’m living a life of a god, don't have time for you fraud.

Now I stand at the tip of humanity, living life like I’m a normal person you see, no need for people to fear me, they barely hear me, it's all in the way they treat me, it's all too clear too see, I’m not meant to be, but here I stand, satan in my left hand, I’m running hell, I’m the lord of all death, king of all theft, I could steal your soul, without a toll, people can call me a troll, I run their ****** soul.

In the end when we would all die, I’d stand facing the sky, nothing takes me down, immortality within my crown, Lucifer fear me, satan hear me, I’m living a life of a god , don’t have time for you fraud.

After years of life, stolen about 35 tribes, I need the sacrifice, memorize, years I had tried, to rule and thrive, failed then revived, harder but re-tried, remember when I was 5, living a good life, thought life was a ride, happiness was supplied, no longer a free ride, now I’m a god beside I’m living a free life, not afraid to take your sacrifice, yeah they might fight, but they are a dying light, no one survives.
this isnt a poem, its just something i wrote, please leave feedback and how i can improve it
