Once I walked the road of nature
Where the scent of outdoor
Came vibrantly close to
The beginning of spring
And the black bunny danced
With the grassland fairies
In the pouring rain

Now I walk the road of nothing
Trapped in boxes of artificial lighting
Seeking desperately for the next thrill
Until the beating punches of midnight
Knocks my eyes out dry
And I awake the next day
To a cacophony of robotic alarms

Tomorrow I wish to see the sun again
To feel the heat on my arms again
To stand on the tickling grass again
To finally go back to nature again

I return once again
To my trusty pen
To pent out the storms
That brew deep within

But this time I find
I haven’t a rhyme
To execute my words
And represent my mind

So now there’s a worry
And some need to hurry
To prove that I feel
But feelings are blurry

Instead, I panic
My writing’s quite manic
Forgetting the real world
And all that’s pragmatic

Artificial hinderance
To prevent the ignorance
Is something i brew
My mind is carnivorous

The whole essence of songs
Are the engravings of notes on time
So why is it that i
Draw lopsided eyes
When 60 years ago
Come blasting through to ears anew

I love the hollow echoes
Of studio feedback in records

Indoor
Outdoor
By door
You see more
Than the spring drizzle
That cleans your lawn
That lets the scents out of your yard.
You see an opening
Through the drops
That lets you escape the drapes
To April

Open up the morning blinds
To see tomorrow drown tonight
One more day and out to flight

The coats hanging up
The clothes on the rack
With designated countries

Worn to be sure
That every eye sees anew
Local being not foreign
im gonna post all the escapril poems ive written so far

lucid, iridescent.
A vibrant remedy
to a gray backdrop.
three months felt like six,
and the past four have felt like two.

A pretty blade on my ear, benign,
what a lovely reminder that
the world can be good again--
you just have to shift the angle
to see it shimmer.
crimson shiver
across a herd of puddles

OPEN 24/7 ruby lights
entice

cocktails
with silly names

rusted hearts
on cubicle doors

dried blood punctures
wall of wounds

where new-born couples
spill their lust

lipstick leftovers
from a thousand calamities

raspberry dress flicker
face with no name

your kiss a delicious ampersand
on my skin

the storm clouds threatened
to pull me into the blue river
and drown me in a mix of cobalt and smoke

i was pushed into the rift
the folds of brine,
so i pulled out my pockets
hoping the last bit of blush pinks
and buttercup yellows
would save me from the patches
of leaden gray
day 09: furor (focus on a color)
I think I (unwittingly) swayed away from the prompt and went off the rails with this one.
know that I use
that word

in that way
only for you

easy
really

to unpack
the corny lines

leak out a babe
like some throwaway term

rabbit from the hat
oh! know how it's done

not what we're used to
this submergence

into a dream made real
pool of pepper and fizz

sunrise-sky eyes
watermelon-red lips

our version
of four letters

hear it tick
in our blood

the way we
taste our names

i wish i could go back -
hold the little boy with unkempt, inky hair
and clumsy, painted fingertips
by the hand and tell him:
“you are a hero.
you will soar into the sky
with your crimson cape
and pointe shoes;
the crowd will tell you
to fight tougher, punch harder
but i believe in you
and that's enough.”
