Ash
I tell myself
To forget you
Since you were never
Any good

The sweetest sin
You've always been
To indulge—
I insist I should

They all knew what
Was going on—
We were doomed and bound
For our hell

But you and I
Knew who you were—
Too good to be
All heaven-sent

Having been warned
To stay away
From the demon
That you are

They told me
Not to love again
But after you
I never can
Decided to go for free verse.

Stellar
I love you
even  if
those eyes no longer recognize me
even  if
my name doesn't bring tidal waves in your chest anymore
Your presence lays within the smell of rain
and
all its transparent beauty.
God is closer to you than your jugular vein

Abigail
Her sleeve slips
Her scars show
People stare
People judge
Picks herself up
She’s been through worse
She is an artist
Her skin is the canvas
The blood is the paint
Her scars are her pain
The scars are memories of the words that hurt
Past reminders of a cruel world
She smiles
Picks up the blade
Tears still fall, but the smile is real
Blood flowing from her wrists
The pain is too great
Another angel falls from grace

~

Because of you
I learned to live
I learned to breathe
I learned to give

I learned to write
I learned to read
I learned to want
I learned to need

I learned to sing
I learned to talk
I learned to dance
I learned to walk

I learned to look
I learned to know
I learned to listen
I learned to grow

I learned to dream
I learned to care
I learned to hear
I learned to share

I learned to gain
I learned to teach
I learned to find
I learned to reach

I learned to smile
I learned to grin
I learned to love
All over again
