the water grips my reflection

all wobbly head
     quavering legs

a swathe of hillside
     like an avocado slice

trees squashed together
     in a bristly embrace

gluey splodge of cloud
     on a periwinkle sky

shimmer of sunlight
     across the lake

illuminates your face
Written: May 2015.
Explanation: A poem written in my own time, partially inspired by a set of images a friend of mine took while at Dovestone Reservoir, located in the South Pennines area of northern England, close to the Peak District National Park.
NOTE: Many of my older poems will be removed in the coming months.
tomorrow i want to steal someone's heart
and i want them to steal mine
i want to trace constellations on their palm with my finger,
paint symphonies out of heart tickling laughter,
dance a slow waltz with our lips intertwined,
and gaze into their eyes and see a universe

dear 11:11
tomorrow i want to be in love
i want to feel the tip of it with my toes
let it crawl up my leg and body
and wrap me up from the inside out
sink into oblivious bliss

today i spent alone but
tomorrow i want love to knock at my door
sing me a tune i know by heart
and let me hum the harmonies
tear up the clouds and let the sun rain down
sincerely,
i felt like this a while ago and still do, i think. anyways, this poem is pretty raw and i'm probably going to post a revised version later. but for now, enjoy the thoughts i have and keep to myself.
My Body no longer yours
I rescued it
along with Soul, Sanity & Love

I see you burning
in the smoke of your own fire

I hear you howl
as the wind carries your voice

a whirlwind of chaos
chasing me

words forming tornados in the gravel

the path from your home
morphs into my Body

I smell the gasoline residing beneath
my clipped fingernails

the ether spills
a volcanic eruption

forging through the Garden of Sorrow
so named for all that is lost there

But before I left I was sure to uncover
Love – taking a shovel to claim
the remnants of a diseased heart

I dug up Sanity – some speak of keeping
Insanity as a friend, but not me
I’ve had enough madness

And I took back my Soul
the thing you’d hidden so deep, like digging
for diamonds – the rarest type

Blood diamonds – each formed
for every life
you stole.

My mama always told me
everything can be fixed
with a little duct tape
& a lot of easy lovin'

Maybe I can do the same
thing, but with your heart
as I sit and breathe
my heart slows
my mind quiets

I can now hear the birds singing
feel the gentle breeze blowing
and my skin tingles to celebrate
that I am alive to be present
to this moment
the first time i kissed you,
i tasted salvation.
sweet hymns sang between lingering touches
and my skin burnt with something that looked like heaven,
but felt like hell.
tell me something that will lift the fear from my shoulders
and soon the stale air im breathing in is too heavy in my lungs.
religion is a game of who's story you believe the most.
i feel internal life in your hands
i taste something sweeter than enlightenment on your lips.
and i found myself believing in you as fiercely as if i had found God.
