There's a handsome man behind this mean-mug somewhere I know it, but I just can't show it
There's mellow eyes behind my ferocious stare somewhere I just can't let you see it
There's a gentle touch behind my aggressive grip somewhere I just can't feel it
How about my smile that lives inside of my frown,
Only if it was implanted where my heart is I'll know how to start it
My sunken head that is placed on my sturdy neck,
Only if I knew how to flex
I can keep my chin from being pinned in my chest
Careless and fearless; when really I'm so considerate and startled by what holds of tomorrow
It's just hard to know that side of me
Hard to pry out what's inside of me
All the knives in my back
You would think people was trying to get to my core
But it was done only to score
The real me is detained
I strain to show the sol that's inside of me because I'm drenched by rain
My soul isn't overwhelmed by pain
I don't let pollution penetrate
...I filter
And obviously I don't let my feelings
Pour or strain
The lemons of my life aren't peeled so my concentrate is unreal
I concentrate on adding water so I can purify my life
Detained inside myself

A yank around the branch for an unripe banana tree

makes for peels at the tears; an aggrandized detainee.

In three proper pieces, breathing spiff in the fog,

split flat on the soil,  in an envelope of slog,

it doesn't really matter because

nobody knows but you.

It only really matters when

the answer is ubiquitous.

A pupil to imbue

labradoritic hues

will disagree to acquiesce

and suffuse bleeding happiness.

This is the song of a Dreamer.
You would be hard-pressed to find
A more likable person.
He is one of a kind.

He moved to California;
From south of the border he came--
A four-year-old with his family.
Futuro, we'll say, was his name.

Futuro's father and mother
Worked very hard to provide
A good life for their children--
Something that they'd been denied.

Schooling was very important.
Futuro strove to excel.
He wanted his parents to see him
And his three siblings do well.

His college graduation
Made his parents so proud.
The smiles on their faces were something--
The biggest smiles in the crowd.

Futuro landed employment.
Later things went awry
When a cop pulled him over
And gave him a DUI.

That's when the nightmare started
Futuro was able to see
What it was like to be treated
Like a detainee.

Belongings were confiscated.
His hands and feet were chained,
As if he were a convict
Who had to be restrained.

They gave him no information
And moved him from place to place.
Each detention center
Was an utter disgrace.

Conditions were atrocious.
The rooms were damp and cold.
The food was barely edible
After you scraped off the mold.

Thanks to our heartless leaders.
Thanks to the CCA.°
We have detention centers
Where people are treated this way.

Such centers often become
A two- or three-year address
For many detainees caught in
A bureaucratic mess.

These for-profit prisons,
Based on what we know,
Are an assault on our freedom.
Let's face it: they've got to go.

When we civilized people
Treat human beings like this--
Worse than we treat an animal--
There is something amiss.

Futuro, well, he was lucky.
He was released on bail.
Now his fate is in limbo.
At least he's no longer in jail.

Must he hide in the shadows?
Must he be on the run?
What will it take for Futuro
To walk in the light of the sun?

Give Futuro your blessings.
Give the hopeful your praise.
May our eyes be opened.
May we see brighter days.

Shallowness got them waiting on a valueless ♡letter.
Whilst You've sent them a ♡book, containing 114 ♡chapters.. Oh Loving One, if they only knew better.

Darkness got their hearts blindfolded, they can't see.
He, not my brother, has the soul of a detainee.
Whilst Your Light gave us sight, the opportunity to just be and for our souls to remain free.
...

Though, there are times where we don't know how to pursue.
Naggingly we beg You to help us through,
Cause all we want is being so heavenly close to You.

Guide, please help the lost too,
And please ٱلْغَفَّارُ forgive this veiled crew.
Every interaction makes me blue.
Oh only if the meaning to Your divine words they knew..

Almost everyday my soul sang,
Trying to cope with the fact that I couldn't get along,
With those who are constantly whispering another song.

I felt left out for generations,
Not impressed by their so called sensations,
Not dealing the same way with worldly temptations.

To the extent that I almost doubted what we inhaled,
It couldn't be the same, with their hearts veiled..
Made me think about us being scaled, and therefore not wanting to act derailed.

I've left myself out of this tremendous way of living,
Only to hear them whisper what I should be giving,
Parts of my soul and body - why bother, isn't He Most Forgiving?

Now I can't say I do,
I give away parts of my breath whenever I try to exhale - for if they only knew..
My soul is still intact, my body attached to the feeling of obeying You.

An intrusive suspicion lurks from within, watch no adventure! My handcuffing Being still tied to the detainee, escaping nothingness, the loss will unfold in a conscious euphoria, because I really wanted to believe in true promises that were proved again only in their lies! The unstoppable threat is already ubiquitous; red knife shards dazzled in the face of a scorching sunset!
Even the working Cosmos seems to revolve around itself merely for deliberately forgetting Man! The pedal of my line should be turned into turbo speed, and six while I have the strength and holy Will!

Something could have grabbed me and now I am missing it; voluntarily, I fall faster into the cavity-bottom of undermining pits, for I cannot know who can still hold my hesitant hand to pass through the fierce congregation of great, success-besieging great fish? And if there is even a Career Opportunity at all, the mercenaries of Blind Luck are immediately sawed apart by self-bribing five-minute famous s chopsticks! Most of the villains today are like a rubbed businessman, for whom the World is still a usable toy!

The running shadow of Silence would crash, and trembling centipede rat leeches would **** each other's blood, if it could be obtained eagerly! "A stern-hard hand waves at Executioner's bean," What the hell are you scribbling for? No use! My mother's redemptive voice, the hustle and bustle of horror, sways space after hard-judging words; many times every equation seems unsolvable!
How can I learn the recipe for survival, which I myself doubt many times?

Brain-softened gorilla brains, chirping-smiling, kissing little kittens, lift yourself up to the pillars of universal knowledge — and don’t be as dark-foolish as the midnight forest!

THe death of jackson kimbrough left very few words
He said if that pain still hurts  on into the morning
all you gotta do is spend the rest night drinking
the hurt will only disappear for just a little moment
so don't give a ****, and **** all the hatred
we are only but marters trapped somewhere inside
we cannot be afraid to be lost in the sea
something in-between all the lost hopes and
all the dreams that he has let slip away.
a lll you need is someone to show you how to run
run straight to this island of lost mysteries

The death of jackson kimbrough was a very sad day
people from all around came to witness this mans faith
he was one in himself and everything left to chance
he was always left dreaming, dreaming into night
He always said to just open your mind
keep on dreaming and you'll be just fine

jackson kimbrough had very few friends
he was somewhere lost falling like a leave
while this sky treats him like a detainee
The man kept to himself but that was just fine
everything he did was just to be a little kind
a child of the 60's, forever in time
just looking for a second chance,
and the gravity keeps tossing him around
you can't never gonna stop

that devil Billy Brate got nerve
took me to the green woods all excited
but t'was all for piping like Pan
just what he was giddy for
and i a reclined detainee to fawn

hollow reed whittled finger holes
he challenged natures birdsong
and came up shrill and dry
hollow reed
and i am boredom fed under duress
(how a girl
      can mock up an impressed
                                       gaze of awe)
it's all exhibit
a picture for his court mates to deride
he can swell his fellas with the media ;
he mistook another girl
           down deep in Foxlease Thicket
Written for a contest. Contest closed early. This would have been the entry. The challenge was to do a poem inspired by an old print of a young guy and girl hanging out in the woodlands. He plays on a pipe whilst she lies there with a neutral expression on her face. The instruction is to channel Silvia Plath. I fell short on that front.

“...But Turkey is part of the story of Trump’s treachery. Erdogan, like Putin, Kim, and Zelensky, has learned that in the United States-- as in other authoritarian countries-- only one man really matters.”
_________

I wrote this after the brutal ****** of Jamal Khashoggi. I highly suspect the timing and the players of this backroom agreement:

The timing of Khashoggi's disappearance and the release of the Evangelical pastor, Brunson are not coincidental. The players were all there and the timing in place.
Here's what I think happened:
Turkey plays middleman, gets rid of bad press and high-pressure detainee, American Pastor Brunson. Saudi Arabia gets rid of its problematic critic, the newspaperman, Jamal Khoshoggi. The United States gets Pastor Brunson back plus the huge photo-op with Trump on his knees right before the election, claiming to his evangelical base, “See what I did for you? Does that buy your votes?” Everybody gets what they want, except Jamal Khoshoggi, who is tortured, killed, and dismembered in the Saudi embassy in Turkey.
Too diabolic and smooth for Trump alone. I think Russia and high level, intelligence brokered this deal. The agreement for it came between Saudis, Trump, and Turkey's Erdogan. Russians standing just out of sight on this – waiting.
_______
Gotta wonder what our economy is based on? More-so, the morality of our government. We should be outraged and deeply ashamed!
Feel terrible for his fiance--not knowing-- not even able to bury him.
Support the free press everywhere!

...Latest: Trump's response:

But Trump also reiterated his earlier concerns that any punishment of Saudis shouldn't impact trade with Saudi Arabia, signaling that cutting off U.S. military sales to the kingdom may not be an option.

"I don't want to hurt jobs," he said...."

Fast forward--
10-8-19:

Now we learn a little more about what Turkey wanted from the deal.
Open season on the Kurds, anyone?

Trump's letter to Erdogan all but threatening him to cooperate with cease-fire in Syria allowing Putin into the territory he wanted.  Not sure who actually framed Trump's words as he is a a blabbering *******.  Jared perhaps?

The letter does Not promise reward for cooperation-- but in carefully couched words-- threatens Erdogan that he could end up like Khashoggi.  As Michael Cohen testified, “Trump never says anything directly.  Sorta like a mafia don-- everything is in code”
I know it's not poetry, and it will be removed shortly  Poets traditionally have always had a voice and a love for justice  and peace, so I post it briefly.  Any other thoughts on this?

prickly vibes climb the ceiling
of the attic you weep
in,
      the comforts of your worn-out bed;
                                                        stained blood-red.

it's awfully cold
for a typically sluggish winter
day-,
             by-day you still don't learn;
                                                  of no return.

staring at the mirror you see
it is not sadness you suffer from
but,
        a full-blown catastrophe;
                                         permanent detainee.

you sob for weeks but no-one hears
the screams dance off walls and doors
begging,
             for mercy or an escape;
                                          man-in-cape.

you've done nothing but lead
a dull life and now you wait
distressed,
            with empty hopes for a rescue;
                                                     past overdue.

it's hard to say what went wrong
and easier to say what went right
despite,
            you dying and all;
                                  *poor soul.
moral of this: life is short, you gotta live it long.

Do you believe in destiny?
Whatever it may be?
I like to think I'm free
That this misery
Wasn't by decree
Of a higher being
Beyond me
That I could flee
If I please
I think you would agree
If you could see
The smallest and largest degree
To which I am my own detainee
But whether I am drifting in a boat at sea
Or rooted to my fate like a tree
At least I think I'm free
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
remain consistent above the crescents and stars
oblivious to ruination and recrimination
putting memories and drudgery behind bars
captured, contained above rule and intimidation

fluffed up behind recognition and held high
immortal as history and pretense
you've had the chance and time to belie
now you must stand at your own expense

fearing for cowards is a plain virtue
hiding... desperate as a plan can be
all purpose and position now fully askew
don't trespass again or act the detainee

In my dream I was free ,there existed no laws
I Woke up with reluctance just like a returnee
Dazed but Yet, I knew exactly where I was.
I knew then on this earth I was a detainee
So Where do I go at night when I fall asleep ?
Just because I woke up,I had one definite answer
I took a short dream voyage , I went so deep,
The constellation had me spinning like a dancer
It was all like paradise, it felt so wonderful
Even the stars served me cakes topped with cream
It was eventful and brief yet it was very beautiful
Sadly,It was over,I was back from the voyage of my dream.
We all have a dream ...we take them so many ways.

ROCKING IN PLACE

Facing forward still rocking to and fro,I am solid but the ground moves beneath me

Staying in place will not win a race, without exploration the view will never be new

Takes a lot of gravity to move a flat rock ,it remains while the waves carry the sands out to sea

Hard to feel wild while so idle, reins pulling at the bit and the bridle, what continues to connect me to this lonely avenue

Highest high quietly slipping onto the edge of purgatory,if growing blind are we the best to be our own trustee

Guided into this new place slowly but surely being edged from the race, should I simply accept the lesser *****

When does the climbing stop, regulate inhibitions to grow to the top, predetermination of seeing the edge is no guarantee

Able to remain mobile or ability to go global not to be taken for granted to many simple or fine things to pursue

Drawing a blank sitting solid on the planks ,memory lost at what cost are we becoming life's next detainee

Chair takes it's place as we stand aside, what may place us there so easily without a care ,are we ready to set into something we can not undo. R.C.
Am sure some might understand this, often hard to sit and watch the world go by,but also a constant reminder to be grateful for what I have , "Peace Takes Practice" Thanks for reading. Your thoughts are welcome. Rick

sometimes it’s hard
hard to breathe
my mind will seethe
with my own disregard

and a lack of empathy
for everyone and even me
because I’m a detainee
of my very own body

It’s almost midnight, that’s the worst time to be alive and alone with my thoughts.

Oh wishing washing wishing well,
my wish to you, I wish to tell!

Before I speak, you spoke as-well,
“What is that retched stank, your smell!”

I ask, I yell, “How do you mean?”
Today I washed! See I am clean!?

“You see, I saw, what you have seen,
burdens—you have, your soul—unclean!

how can you wish at the well—but,
not wash the well, from comes, your thought!?”

“Tis, you say, a stupid pool!
trapped in brick, are you a fool?

Can’t you see that I am free?
From boundaries—which hold you, a detainee!”

“My boundaries are physical, I’m free in thought,
yours are mental, you yourself, brought.”
