Cné

Hanging like a scimitar
suspended in the sky,
the moon beside a gleaming star
is pleasing to the eye.
How desolate, this satellite
in airless ebon space
and yet, from here
‘tis beautiful
filagree & lace.

I'm terrified of not having at least one secret that only I know.
Saturn moves into capricorn
as  conqueror
rather than lover.

I keep drawing the tower card.

Space has no boundary.
Down is relative.
We know, then,
that it is entirely possible to
just
keep
falling.
Indefinitely.
Devils roam free in the sixth house.

I've been drawing the tower card.
I keep drawing the tower card.

The snake I am is not the snake I was.

Tower card. Tower card.

"Mama, some pieces are missing from this puzzle."
"Only the piece with the eyes printed on it, baby."

Drawing from memory, now.

Come on and touch
this broken husk
before it crumbles
away to dust, and
something different
is left sitting
at the foot of your bed.

Inevitability.

Might be
that there is no Heaven,
but
there are certainly heavens.
The air tastes different out here
The stream plays the pebbles like a harp
There is no line that separates the mountain from the valley

No law that forbids the Sun from bleeding into the sky
There are no ends to the trunk
nor starts to the branch
There are no fences or walls
No corners or edges
Nothing sharp enough that it could cut my soul

I open my eyes

I'm still at my desk - chained, only by fear
My weekday tie fastened just loose enough so I can't complain I am choking

I am choking!
Yes!Yes!
I am ambitious,
At least not pretentious.
I want success,
To top positions access.
I want to make more than enough,
Dough,
To uplift those lesser,
To be better.
I want to help those students who are brilliant but cannot afford good education.
You were white paper
I smiled, flames licked you up
Innocence is ash
....
Poetry to me
Is all the unspoken words
Written on paper
....
Anything is sweet
In a voice spun of sugar
Made you candyfloss
....
I never minded
That it wasn't fairy tales
I still felt magic
....
Mummy held my hand
The pictures sighed so sadly
The other was empty
This is a random assortment of some haikus I wrote. None of which I felt deserved their own post, but rather a place in a variety pack.

Many underestimate how the people are
Many do not know what is in them
They can be like a pearl mussel
From the outside they look worthless
But inside they are beautiful and precious.

Blinded from what surrounds us,
we focus on self doubt.
Fears from the past howl in the wind,
with a familiar sound.

We inhale the future,
and try exhale the past,
but the wind struggles for empathy,
creating a stranger out of us.

Waves of uncertainty hold us back.
And the reality of our past hides among,
the darkness that wanders alone,
finding comfort within our discomfort.

In denial is often felt.
The truth of our past is avoided and hidden,
behind the thick layers of emotion.
And our sense of wonder radically changes.

Time manages to stay still and,
the beauty of silence flourishes,
awakening a thought,
where words are no longer valid,
only our existence  is what matters.

We ponder at the entrance of our deepest thoughts,
and while regret accompanies us,
our heart holds on to the past,
every single beat has it's own painful rhythm.
Men
A man who:
Takes pictures of himself
Everyday
Won’t have the time for you

A man who:
Leaves love notes on
Napkins
Underneath your coffee cup
Will love you when
You have nothing

A man who:
Declares he’s a great father
For all to see
Really
Truly
Isn’t

A man who:
Tells his children
Over the phone
Next to their bed
Kisses them good night
Where no one can see or hear
Truly is
A decent man

A man who:
Doesn’t make promises
But shows over
Time
His worth
His character
Is someone to know

A man who:
Makes mistakes
But tries his damndest
To make amends
May not see
Eye to eye
With all
But
Respects the process
Of understanding
Each other

A man who:
Writes poetry anonymously
Posts it for the world to
See
Is an enigma

Seatbelt on.

The world is in front of me.

With the windows down I feel the brief summer air.

The roads are clear.

I turn up my favourite song and I sing.

I sing it until my throat gets sore.

Road and sunset, that's all I see.

I love every minute of it.

So free.

Along with the sun I drive, destination unknown.

Just to be, just to feel the life in me.

If this isn't freedom, what is?
