Standing there
Seeing u in white
Walking down that aisle
was a dream of mine

And to see u in white
Walking down that aisle
Towards some other guy
Makes my heart wanna cry
But i don't know why
I don't.
Greed and Lust stands with Pride the priest in the center of a circle of sins waiting to be joined in matrimony
Pride takes the left hand of Lust and puts it
in the right hand of Greed then takes the left hand of Greed and puts it in the right hand of Lust and began the ceremony
The words that flowed from the mouth of Pride the priest cut through the air like swords cutting through flesh
"Disgustingly wicked we have come together in the presences of demonic forces to behold the joining of this devil and this **** in unholy matrimony
This band and covenant of marriage was established by evil in darkness
Lust will you have Greed to be your husband to live together in the covenant of marriage?  Will you obey him, lay with him, and fulfill his ****** desires as long as you both shall live?"
Covered in darkness wearing a veil of evil and with the flames of hell burning in her eyes Lust answers "I will."
Pride looked over at Greed and said
"Greed will you have Lust to be your wife; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Will you supply and adorn her with riches as long as you both shall live?
With a twinkle in his eyes that sparkles like gold, Greed answers "I will."
"By the powers invested in evil the groom and bride may kiss" said Pride.
As Greed and Lust's lips touched their wedding guests were as silent as a corpse.  The heat and hate that filled the air was so thick that they all choked on it.  Lust turned her back to the wedding guests and threw a bouquet of Poison Ivy over her head.  Envy stepped in front of Sloth and snatched the bouquet out of the air.  "Nice catch Envy" said Sloth with slow, slurred, speech.
"Thank you Sloth and I do believe green is more my color" said Envy.
Lust turned around to see who caught the bouquet.  She wasn't a bit surprise to see Envy holding the Poison Ivy.

I pray to the very God,
who put us together,
That you and I,
Should never part.

I so love this leisurely life,
hence the disdain for
marriage and wife

but if such calamity were
to befall and I find myself
hungry, sweaty, tired

in a dining hall, while
the guests have a ball,
let it be then, that my

pretty partner has gaol
bird thoughts, who doesn't
stand compromised, sad

imposed nonsense of
any sort, when I take
her hand, ask her if we

can flee, she wouldn't
care a hoot and simply
heed the call, I am

looking for a runaway
then, not a wife, one
who loves the trees,

breeze, road bends,
adventures, loves to
take solitary walks and

may be meet her husband
sometimes, just because
she feels the need, I am

not looking at all, for a
society-accepting, drab,
tradition-obeying being,

I am not looking for a
wife, after all, because I
so love this leisurely life

we could be lovers instead

here's to
streams travels wheel trees

here's to
kettle fumes dunes blues

here's to
hammocks ruffled hair loose clothes

here's to the free ebb

Wedding Reception: A event that is usually held within a week of the wedding (or the evening post the wedding), accompanied with dinner for the guests.
Paul Gilhooley May 2016
Our love has blossomed day by day,
Surviving struggles along the way,
Our love so strong, goes marching on,
As today we start our lives as one.

To stand and wonder at the sight of you,
As you hear me say the words “I do”,
Our time together has flown it seems,
As today begins tomorrow’s dreams.

The first time I saw your smiling face,
How it made my young heart race,
I knew I had to make you mine,
To share my love through all of time.

To see you strolling down the aisle,
To hear your nerves, to see your smile,
A married couple, no longer single,
The thought of this, a special tingle.

This special day, is yours and mine,
The day for sure our hearts entwine,
We stand and say it bold and proud,
We love each other, we say it loud.

From taking long walks hand in hand,
To watching sunsets on the sand,
To special moments as you and me,
As we share our love for eternity.*

The greatest days I can remember
were when the ring slipped on the finger
and when my wife dawned her white dress....

The invitation comes
in the form of a hotel room keycard
The venue
a back hallway where a half dozen gather
Music
a playlist from Spotify

The high priestess officiates
and the priest in a belly dancer’s outfit
ties a silk ribbon around the happy couple’s hands
a fine pagan tradition
Giggles over his jingling bangles
set the mood

Afterward we go to Rosa’s
still dressed in our finery
(except for the priest
who has found a sweatshirt)
The happy couple share a margarita
while the rest of us dine on tacos and empanadas

In the room we share with the new spouses
I rest with the best of royalty
By midnight
I am asleep on the priestess’ lap
A late wedding present for Vex and Sarah. Some details changed through creative license, I hope you guys don't mind! I shared it with my poetry class and they all seemed to like it (except for one, who didn't hear my explanation and thought it was satire; clearly he doesn't know how to party).

Glossy eyes and a glazed over smile.
Curled hair and an upbeat tone.
I walked up to you for what seemed like a mile.
Your eyes were down and you were on your phone.
I knew my name wasn’t in it so I had to take the chance.
You looked away.
Didn’t give me the time of day.
All I wanted to do was dance.

I saw you leave with him, but I wasn’t upset.
I tried my best but I wasn’t enough.
Its crazy how I can remember this now and still feel regret
All these years later I finally called your bluff.
Now you’re walking toward me in a wedding gown.
It’s impossible for me to frown.
But I still can’t help but drown and fight
The thought of you sleeping with him all those years ago
And I’ll never tell my brother about that night.
