I was walking in
that old betrayer,
rain.
I was soaked to the gills,
and my wingtips were
sloshing on every
broken sidewalk.
The wind took my last
match, so smoking was out.
I'd give my liver for
a lighter and two
dimes to rub together.
I think I'll join the
carnival, get on that
tunnel of love and never
get off.

I am feeling sad, done and tired,

Sometimes I feel like I should just call it a day,
let my despair wash me away.
All expectations are like chains,
holding me down,
when it rains,
waiting for me to drown.
Through the clouds, I couldn’t even see the sun,
and I thought I was done,
but suddenly I saw a ray of light,
it was small but really bright,
and then it began.
Every colour known to a man,
glowed above my head,
telling me to move ahead.
That’s when I understood,
that even when nothing’s feeling good,
without the painful rain,
the rainbow would never shine again.

the april downpour
a fleeting feeling

The fog loses purchase
on the window
and, dying, wicks
ashy vapor's slick scatter
to gated green-brown.
Morning comes again
in fractioned crooks
of snow declining
into fat eggs of rain.
The fog is a colossus,
ravels with dragging step,
before retiring itself
above oak branchlets.  
The sun wraps away
in gray, as if stolen.  
Nativity of cloud.
I'm telling you this:
everything is possible.

Shelter is a storm.
Flying high; my heart within.
Why must you float on?
