Yesterday I was black,

Today I am frightened,

Tomorrow I’d be lost.

I thought we were all humans,

A creation from God,

I didn’t know I would be treated differently

like a fraud.

Am I a ghost,

Why does everyone run?

I’m not a criminal

No, I’m human.

So, why do you point a gun?

Religion, class, cast

Black, brown or white

I thought these mindsets were in the past,

I thought everyone were finally all right,

But I guess I was wrong.

So I run, keep running

from this little world,

But I don’t know where to go,

How starved you must have been,

that my heart became a meal for your ego.

9 minutes in ****, spent
pleading for rights the world has
failed to give him, but the white man
won't listen as long as he’s on that racist
coloured mission - a bent knee, once a pledge
of loyalty but now an act of atrocity: a snap,
crack and one final bark as a shade of black is
smashed, into the sharp, hard ground of the world
he once loved - so, please don't be silent, pick up
what is left at the pavement, a human life taken,
shackled, name-cuffed to a movement that
should have never been needed, but it now
rises, out of a community shattered,
to defend those lives that
should have always
mattered.

With tears of confusion stinging his eyes,
the boy asked his mother, “Why aren’t we the same?”
She looked lovingly at him and explained,
“We are all the same, even though we have a different frame.”
So then the question arises,
for the despair, who is to blame?
Should shame be on those who hate others just for being different?
Saddened are those who spent all of their time being so bent,
but why should my pigment be my torment?

Is this what life is supposed to be like?
Where riding your bike in the wrong area can get you a strike?
Out of line if you speak out,
about the discrimination, where the right words will cause a bout.
Our understanding seems frozen until we break out
of greed, corruption, prejudice, envy, and lying.
People dying, mothers crying, and violence because of nothing.
But anything could help when your life hangs by a string.
Strung along sheep cast their ignorance with the swing
of their crude weapons or hurtful exclaim
with intent to defame and purpose to maim.
I wonder if we really are the same?
August 5, 2017: Even in spite of the great diligence from Civil Rights leaders, the lasting aftermath of prejudice, hate, ignorance, and segregation are still felt by everyone every day. Crude ignorances we face strangles our society as a whole, not just the targeted people. This is because an unnecessary mentality traps our thinking, and our lives into cycles of despair and hurt.

Why
Help me understand because I don't understand, it's got me questioning' like, "Why?

Just tell me why, tell me am I really different to you or are you the difference that keeps this void between us.

Are we not derived from the same beginning? Are we not derived to the same ending?

Did our ethnicities come with a guide book where complicated combinations are simply too exotic to comprehend?

I stand on a land where all these cultures and religions clash and meet daily and now do you still want to tell me that I’m really different to you.

I’m here in front of you all articulating through the silence. Where’s your devotion? Where’s your devotion, to fracture this never-ending chain of unfair equality?

As Martin Luther King once mentioned, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Well, I have a dream, a dream where this plague will soon have a cure for the state of being equal, in status rights and opportunities.

Before I rage and rant out of passion and before I lay down the historical traumatic facts don’t act like listening is a crime don’t be so blind, don’t be so blind to what tears up our social lives.

So, let me say sorry! I’m sorry, I’m sorry for the fact that our history is built on mass genocide against our native indigenous people I’m sorry we’ve alienated you stripped your form your rights and treated you differently due to the colour of your skin.

I’m sorry I’m only beginning with general history. Look I know I’m not much of a historian, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out the fact that we were built based upon unfair equality

My mother always told me to give back to my community, but how am I meant to give back to a community which is so divided? I don't understand, it's got me questioning' like, "Why? Just tell me why"

I wrote this as I’m trying to pull my head through in hopes that you understand I’m no different to you …

Killing for colour
because one is black.
Don't count on just one
because black, white
pink and brown
we all mourn.

I can't breath
I can feel the pain
on my arms, on my chest
on my legs on my back
and on my head
my heart is broken.

Because killing an innocent
is not only Floyd in the US
is never one
is killing mankind!

Why did you take them too far to find?
You took my people and left me behind.
They laughed with you, you ate together
And you sailed them away from me forever.
Strange man, has the sea washed your black away?
Your soul away? Your heart away?
Did it seep into your skin and make the melanin fade?
Is that why you’re so bitter?
Confused and scared, they ride the waves
And reach my ear; the songs of slaves.
Bitter yet soft, it tells their pain,
It shows your smile, but not your shame.
The ocean reeks of my people’s blood.
I know what you’ve done.
But you can’t hold us in your hands for long
We are the people of the sun.
