The mushrooms in the forest
Know more about survival than me
They bloom in death
And wear it like velvet
I tried burying fear in the compost bin
It came back fragrant
Humming songs I hadn't written yet
There's glory in the stink of it
Mould carving frescoes in
Forgotten bread
Worms in the pit of the peach saying
"We were here first"
I think I love things more
Once they start falling apart
Makes them honest
Some things only tell the truth
Once they start to decay

The rippling heat
wriggles its way through the air -
sweat beads on my brow
ice water for the pup
The moon calls to me tonight—
I cannot resist her charms.
I slip beyond the confines of my room
To let the evening soak into my soul.

A full moon spills her silver light,
Darkness braided with her glow.
Rocky earth crunches beneath my feet,
Each step alive with sound and scent.

The high desert hums its song:
Stars glimmer, coyotes cry.
A noisy stillness fills the air,
As daylight’s brightness fills the sky.

My heaven is green grass,
And scent of sagebrush and hay.
I belong in this moonlit nirvana,
Where constellations burn like fire.

my every move captured
the little fiends are note-taking
       squirrels on the fence
watch me put up battlements
surrounding our thriving tomato plants
                                              Good Luck !

Two   the word we use,
As if life were a coin,
Each side opposing:
One, a dream; the other, silence.

We call Death the thief of goals,
The end that never asks,
But why should it?
When even Life, its brother,
Arrives without permission,
Yet remains sacred.

Sometimes I speak to Death itself,
Ask it:
Why don’t you knock?
Why don’t you warn?
Why don’t you ask before you take?

But then I pause,
Am I not in control of my own path?
Or is Death the master still,
Choosing when to come
And who to claim?

Death
Why do  you grieve?
Why do  you  fear fate?

Imagine the soul   yours, mine
Entwined in the delicate dance
Of life and its inevitable shadow.

It must happen.
Karma, I say.

Every decision, every step
The seeds of future consequence.
Right or wrong, good or bad
But who defines them?

The sun and earth,
Even they obey time
Silent servants to fate.
The truth of life we live without escaping from death itself.

I closed my eyes to the ocean of your eyes,
only to open them
to the drought of your absence.

The run whispered,
The sea replied:
You are whole.
You need no one—
Only yourself.
