Gravitational forces
towards something better
as if it exists
buried beneath
some distant desert

what is it
that strains to convey
itself
in this broken poetry
as if truth were at
the tip of its tongue

perhaps it's to feel real
for only a moment
to escape the routine
of making a living
which only yields
a skeleton
compacted in dirt

Take my writing
let it fly upon the wind
let it touch the four corners
of Earth's spiritless surface
Take it farther!
upon the wings of doves
and sound waves of conversation
to red and gaseous planets
let even the martian men
attempt to
translate

Luck, you lucky *******.
You're welcome wherever you go -
People call and people crave
And pine for you, you know.

What wounds that have healed,
What treasures that are found,
And adventures, unseemly though -
They seem to love your company
All of the best in life -
But to my humble companionship
You're always saying, "No."

I wanted it to work just as much as you
And i thought maybe you just didn’t want it to.
I know that it hurts
And we could’ve made it work.
I get that yeah it’s kind of over,
But i also had fun while it lasted.
At least i found some new music to blast and
I want to thank you for talking to me,
And showing me some things that I didn’t see.
I still think you’re cute and a wonderful person.
You are hilarious and lots of fun.
So thank you, for being around
Even though we don’t even live in the same town.
If this is goodbye, then i bow and wish you farewell
And good luck in your journeys through life, however many times it may seem like hell.

I drink pink grapefruit flavored drinks
my face smells like the citrus
when I lose things and people
I change my hair
it helps me cope with the idea that I can never finish a stick of lip balm and most of the people I've known only yield disappointment
no one is at fault here
but the blame is usually pushed into my intestines
and I spend five days throwing up
I used to be afraid that I would never see the entire world
now I'm afraid I'll never spend enough time in a place I can call home
every morning the smell of grapefruit grows stronger
this is a poem about grapefruits

Luck is when the fruits off one’s labors don’t spoil before harvest – when life doesn’t pluck the buck from your pocket,
or the orbs from your eye sockets.
To be lucky means all the yucky, mucky misfortune simply grazes the hairs on your nose.
Brevity says “I am not lucky to know you”.
It's miraculous to me that you held the key to my heart from the start.
You are not chance, cause, nor coincidence.
You are rarity.
You are pleasantry.
You are necessity.
So as the day must become the night,
so too the rays of my heart must return
to rest in dusk with you
~ and for that
I am forever grateful.

Got
i got silver
i got gold
i got a deal
i got sold
i got a lifetime
i got the world
i got a lot
i got no soul
and it all comes down
what was and never found
hidden in a mask
conformed under mass
i got power
i got luck
i got drugs
i got struck
i got strength
i got brains
i got pills that keep me sane

It was a clean break or so they say.
A simple fix.
No additional trauma
No need for drama.
It'll heal just fine.
Sure it was caused by the lover
of a girl who just became a mother.
She was lucky that their
"Poor communication,"
Did not end up
with a fracture that was comminuted.

I never knew
that a break could be clean or
that a fracture could be stable.

I'm still learning.

I've studied a lot of medical terminology for my classes and it just occurred to me now that I could use those terms as inspiration.
