Inside I cry
behind steel eyes.
Against the wind
I feel that I
am all alone,
am all alone,
am all alone…
Goodbye
Piyush Mar 13
I have written thousands of letters,
I have written hundreds of nights,
And I have seen two lovers fight —
But they’re not fighting with each other,
Still, they are lovers in my story.

I have watched them talking,
A few lies and a thousand truths.
I have written their story,
I have decorated their glory.

That’s all I have given to them,
This is all I would leave behind.
But that’s not all they deserve,
And I will try again for them.
I will write their story again for them.

I would burn all the ashes for them,
Without paying any mind.
I would try to write their names together,
But I know I can’t spell it forever.

Still, I would continue writing their story,
I would write it like a song,
I would sing it like a poem,
I would say it like they’re gods —
In the hope that somehow, they can be together.

But they can’t be the same lovers,
Because, as I said before,
They’re fighting, but not with each other.
They’re complaining, but not about each other.
They’re crying about their lovers
Who left them halfway.
I wrote this poem for the lovers who never got their ending — for those still holding on, even when love slipped away.
one day I'll find my soulmate
I'll marvel at their eyes
so blue and deep like the ocean with waves that brush up against the damp sand
or so green and mysterious like the endless forest with echoes of birds calling out to each other
or so brown and bright like the earth that brings forth life and beauty
I'll write poems about their smile and their laugh
like the sun shone from their lips like the sound of ecstasy
I'd write never-ending ballads about their heart
so abundant with love
a kind word to say about everybody
one day I'll find my soulmate
and I'll love them like they've never been loved before

A bird trapped in a cage cannot fly

I am a bird trapped in a cage
But oh how I yearn to soar

If that bird is set free
It will soar and fly
It will come back.

I was a bird trapped in a cage
Oh how I yearned to be free

When I was set free
I soared and flew
And I came back
Because I was given freedom

vhs flickers, tv static, i blink once
and my whole world has disappeared.
i lean into the feel of your hands that call
my body “home”, but they do not feel me:
tell me what you want.

i watch the men mingle with women; touch
sandwiched between skin and the slick and
for once i cannot breathe because
it suffocates me.

what is it like?
to be given so much that you must take?

like oil on canvas, a vivid depiction of a love
we shared in my fantasy; i’m chasing after
a passionate night
still haunted by a graphite shadow.

gray winter light & umbrella for the rain;
i sit in my disappointment because this coat is
much too thin, so i begin to wish
that it is warmer for me in someone else’s arms

so much to give yet no one to share with.
it’s a tragedy, i know— i know love is born in the flesh,
yet swallowed through our bodies intertwined,
sweat & the afterglow of our parting lips
long after we’ve kissed

when i hover, heat of yours melds to mine;
skin warm, replaced by the gentle grasp of
wishing i had been— then your irises are raking
through ink of a book. breaths bated, arms
brushing because finally you do not see me

i step out into the rain bare,
breathing in satisfaction,
touched only by the purity of rain.
i can’t help but to smile as i let
the gloom kiss my skin

This is one lonely road,
A gray place with no fond memories.

Yet still, a place I know very well,
The broken stones have stories to tell.

This is one dreary path,
A broken face with no kindness left.

Yet, this is where the good men are buried,
When they fade from light and die.
Rochester has many lonely roads, I've walked too many to count.
Upon the midnight sky lies a bright star.
The gleam creating my perfect contour along
The marble headstone like a perfectly placed scar.
Meshing into the headstone, I felt like I belonged.

The strong stone resisting it's wear,
But my tears broke into the cracks
Making death's mark fill with air
As the elixir of life delved deep into evil's lair.

I longed for your hand to protrude from the darkness,
To graze the hollows of my face
The sweet poisonous aroma and paleness
Of decay makes me long for your embrace

Six feet under before your immaculate glass coffin,
Our bodies are under pressure; my kisses fading.
Thy lips growing whiter with rejection.
Ice piercing my hear, and affection degrading.

My skin fragile as porcelain and translucent with death.
My tears glistening in the darkness on your skin.
My blood reviving your wounds my dearest Annabeth.
My cries muffled by the punishment of sin.

I prayed for your breath to again leave shivers upon my neck.
But, I've killed you once before.
Now, my coffin has been made, and I laid to rest.
It always starts this way...
you fold a paper airplane
throw it up...watch it fly...swoop
only to crash
"Its like love" he said
turning over in bed
the next time he spoke
he asked for money

"Its like love" I thought...as
I walked out the door
thinking...nothing is ever like love...
what good is it to compare
what you want....and what is
"nog eentje" I say...and sip beer quickly
it's always so dark over here

one foot then the other...
keep...counting as you...make your...way
across tracks and cobbles
through crowds and rain
one drink too many.....but always too few
a separate issue now
no longer love in question
just lust and hunger for release

"are you alone now" he said
"no...I'm with you"
He reaches for my hand...
I'm reaching for my drink...
we collide and....glass smashes
to the floor....bleeds red wine

a calm feeling now....after kissing and ***
the smell soothes...yet...creates confusion
an odour of such delight makes one feel...
feel so filthy...."its a necessary evil" he said
and as i close the last shirt button
I say "believe me...it has nothing to do with heaven"
