She is the fire I never knew I needed

But after being burnt too many times before

I will just watch her from afar

Longing to be closer

(Even though this hurts just as much as burning does)

I feel like I've fallen away into myself.
I crave distraction.
I'll take it willingly.
Give me two jobs to work.
I'll smile and say how bout three.
Give me romantic movies to
watch,
while I write poetry.

I don't care if you believe in me.
I'll show you what I'm made of times three.
Because I'll take anything that'll distract me from these thoughts.

Failure...
Defeat...
Worthless...
Mindless...

She's nobody worth saving.

Thats fine.
You'll see.
I don't need your boat to rescue me.
I'll swim to my own horizons.
Even if the waves carry me out to sea.

Your words will never cut me.
Or cause me misery.
Because I'm responsible for my own happiness.
Not the kind you tried to make for me.

A million monarchs lie dead, though,
No less sociological programming of
Upper-middle to rich classes with
Decadence, affluence, inclusion, is.
No less societal determination of
Middle to lower, being excluded by
Division and conquering, privation.
Yet, they, on wing no more, still fly
In our spirit's eye, heal humanities' heart.
While their silent cry echoes
The 33,000 species extinct each year,
A rate not seen since the last ice age
Ensued; does it move you?
Does your curiosity ask why?
Will you, on this 33rd Earth Day, allow
A tear for all life's fallen? Consider
The losses economic apartheid incurs,
Mirrored by the divide humancentricity
Has levied? Our underlying duplicitous
Disregard for life, greed and oil fueled,
Won't abate for our existence, will you?
(For the beautiful butterflies, 31 st Earth Day, 2013)

Inspired stylistically by Dylan Thomas   :)

There is no separation, and not no separation, at once.  Life is relation.  Sociology, art, nature, economics, politics, spirituality, Earth, hummingbird, human being, a tree treeing, all one evolving Cosmos.

just like a memorable painting

we were made to admire
each other in the distance

never allowed to break the glass
separating the masterpiece and its viewer

always trying to figure out
the meaning behind each touch of colour

and believing it means something perfect

simply because we all need something
to fantasise about

something to call beautiful in this hideous world.
we're both afraid to show our true colors

Is this what they meant
when they told her love was a hurricane?

                     (it destroyed her cities
                      making her a refugee
                      inside of someone else's body)

If so,
she might have done without.

(and she was never any good
at building homes in new places)

so brave
so thirsty
so scott gimple

as you boldly go
declining the standard advice
instead you can drink too much
at the christmas party

so brave
so thirsty
so about to bring up bill cosby

to your co-worker's fat and loudly still racist husband
as you sit near the nice black lady who works
at the front desk, smiles at you every morning
and orders all the good stuff for the breakroom
scott gimple will tell you Carl was just a lie

"once i was a soldier and i fought on foreign sands for you
once i was a hunter..
once i was a lover
and i searched behind your eyes for you
and soon there'll be another
to tell you i was just a lie"
