We are all strings held together by a thumbtack
Placed there by a man just trying to get his hope in humanity back
We all connect to somewhere else that we don't want to be
Held in place by more tacks in the backs
Of greasy men and stepped on women and children
In this world tossed  and forgotten in a rucksack
Thrown around amongst a gun, huncuffs, and a gum pack,
Extra...
I just kinda started writing, I like the result

who was it - walking down the school corridor?

a Spanish teacher?

an honors student?

a football player?

you'll never know; you didn't care.

did it feel good,
mister shooter?
to pull the trigger on

a mother?

a best friend?

a boyfriend?

to take the lives of family and friends and lovers of innocent people?

was seeing those who have hurt you
suffer by your hand
worth a life behind bars?

16 years old

yet you think you have the right to take away life?
a week ago they took a gun away from a boy at my friend's school. had someone kept quiet, i could've lost some of the most important people in my life. if you suspect something, say something. the world is scary; stay safe out there.

“Give up trying to do anything.
            nothing works works.”
            From a note written by
            Scott Allen Ostrem

If only you came to buy
another cell phone, a pen and
note card, some crayons &
paper.  Anything.  Anything
that would give you a voice.

If only you bought the
fixings for a satisfying supper,
or a gift for a lost lover.
Anything. Anything to help
you express your distress.

Anything to free your
words from the prison of
your maddness, anything
to thaw your frozen tongue,
anything to return your
manhood,  other than that gun!

Anything.  Anything.   If only . . .

A man had a gun for a mouth,
and it was hard for him to see the safety,
his tongue only made things go south,
he could not reach,

He didn't have many friends,
those he did wore kevlar,
None would wait, in the end,
and he dug his own grave,

He worked alone for good reason,
his situation made teamwork unbearable,
he hunted when it was in season,
his mouth, the only thing needed,

He could score a date quite well,
women flocked to his sight,
"What a barrel!", his looks could sell,
conversation was never alright,

His wife was a shield, a maiden of honor,
they worked quite well, nail to hammer,
where she was his mouth, he was her bomber,
ready to strike at the first threat,

His child, the only love in his head,
at birth so strong,
his son had arms of lead,

What carries on is molded by the past,
the fruit grows and ripens,
Until it meets it's last
moment here and the gun gets dim,
God is the creator, but death always wins
your guess is as good as mine

I wasn't  made with
an ambidextrous
spirit.  No, nor skilled
in simultaneously
gripping and letting go--
not trained, since
childhood, to do that
which my heart resists.

It's hard to hold on.

And when my chest
rattled like a
diamond snake--
and I was uncertain
of what was at stake.

I learned:
I am the bull's eye.
I am the stop sign.
I am the excuse
for his violence--
I am the story nobody
wants to hear or
change.

I am no longer me

but only that
gun shot
right here
to my middle.

THE KILLINGS IN AMERICA
ARE DOWN TO ONE THING
ITS THE CAPACITY OF THE GUN
THAT THESE KILLERS CAN BRING

THEY NOW HAVE MACHINE GUNS
AND OOZIES AND KILLING MACHINES
THEY HAVE THOUSANDS OF ROUNDS
TO UNLOAD ON THE SCENE

YOU MUST BAN THESE GUNS
THAT HAVE THE CAPACITY TO ****
AND STOP THEM BUYING THEM
AT THERE OWN FREE WILL
ALL THE KILLINGS IN AMERICA MUST STOP. GUN CONTROL MUST BE MADE WHICH PRESIDENT WILL TAKE ON THE GUN GROUPS. BARE ARMS YES BUT NOT MACHINES GUNS PISTOLS REVOLVERS AND SHOTGUNS ALL SINGLE SHOT GUNS.
