Large boulder rocks everywhere
Water so clear mussels attached to riverbank's
Laughter racing home made boats
Everything about this place is beautiful

I can feel your heart beat in that one
moment we're together
And you're looking at the stars
as they sparkle like your eyes
each with a flicker of hope
a flicker of hope that you might really care
But I'm looking at you
and you can't seem to notice
But hearts beat as one
And our minds think together
And in that moment I think I'm in
love
But I'm not in love with you
I'm in love With the thought of you
The thought of being with you
It makes every part of me ache
But I stop caring
Because I can l only feel one thing
Love
Until you look at me
And the beat of my heart changes
It races
But you don't see me
Like I see you
I see perfection
And you see a game
Something to play with until I it
breaks
Like everything else
You play me
And my heart stops
It beats slowly
As if it is trying to tell me something
with each beat
But I ignore every message
And I look at you
And for a second
the universe is drawing us together
For a second every thing is blurry
But you're the only thing in focus
And it feels like more than a second
I want it to last forever
And you move closer to me
And I move closer to you
And our faces get closer and closer
Until the gap has disappeared
And I'm looking into the stars in your eyes
Everything is perfect
Nothing can change this one moment
Even the stars look at us in awe
Because it's perfect
Then suddenly my second is up
Everything stops
And our lips don't touch
And you leave me with the same emptiness I started with
The same feeling of loneliness
and everything is the same
and you're looking at the stars
and I'm looking at you
and I'll only ever be looking at you

Seems like just yesterday,
You begged me for another chance yet you waste it away.

I shouldn’t put my trust in you,
Knowing that you'd never cherish everything that we’ve been through.

How could I be so blind?
Oh you played me;
Like a fool, I had been falling for your lies.

Not gonna be your toy no more
I’m done playing with your games, now I’m walking out that door.

Boy, I don’t need your love no more because it was never once true
And now, I’m already over you.

I’ve had enough this time, I’m walking away.

The glistening sun sets,
leaving a silhouette of hanging trees,
a decoration on pink faded walls.
Humming cicadas and chirping crickets,
play in a symphony of the night.
Bike rides and park games in darkness,
softball games in the bright field lights.
Each crack of the ball and bat create a chaos of teammate screams.
Lost every game, but won each time.
A refreshing water runs on slippery rocks,
swimming among fish and ducks,
Soaking bodies run home,
Baggy shirts, gym shorts,
Adults and children mix in a weekly party,
Beer bottle caps and soda cans clink to the ground.
Love and laughter surrounds a crackling open fire,
Warming bodies and hearts.
Little feet race to where the sidewalk ends,
the grass grows thick.
It is here where teams are picked and knees are scarred.
12am games are played,
cans are kicked, ghosts roam graveyards, and flags are captured.
Waiting to go home, hours and hours of waiting
Hours of talking of all different ages,
Country music and guitar melodies play throughout the street,
a lullaby of our childhood.
Television reruns at 2am entertain tired minds,
Couch and floor beds of blanket forts,
Carried up to bed to sleep in comfort at 4am, the chirping birds, already wishing a good morning to most, but goodnight to this home.
The raccoons rattle and the woodpeckers poke in a serenade to sleep,
In a neighborhood of blaring nights and silent mornings.
Each week, the time flew by.
A poem and a glimpse into my childhood.
