She was standing at the edge of the abyss looking down at endless darkness beneath her feet, cold air kissing her cheeks,  she took a step back and looked at the sky to see  his face smiling back at her,

"Why am I here? "

she asked gently but‎ the face faded revealing a clear sky and a voice softly replied "take the leap" she had goosebumps feeling how close to her ear the voice was,

"I'm scared "

she said "I don't know what's down there, who's going to catch me?" the air calmed and there was silence, she looked around and saw nothing but never ending rocky plains  and the dark abyss in front of her, "that's where you're wrong " the voice startled her "with falling in love you don't  need someone to catch you, you simply keep falling deeper and deeper it's only when you can see the ground that you need to worry, but should you find someone whose heart and soul is one never ending free fall into the unknown, I suggest you jump" she frowned

"but it's dark down there"

the air around her was getting warmer, her skin now back to its natural smoothness "I can't show you love but I can make you feel it, by letting go of your fears and letting Hope, Faith and Courage fill your heart you will find tranquility the deeper you go but should you carry on being fearful of what could go wrong and making up scenarios you will create your own heartbreak, remember you're falling in the deep dark, you can be friends with the darkness or it could be your worst enemy but it will be your own doing because the dark does nothing but show you what you think for yourself" she stepped forward and looked down again, then she closed her eyes and......

"I'm still kinda waiting for an answer" he said with an engagement ring in his hands while down on one knee  his words returned her from her divination and she realised she her boyfriend of three years is on his knee waiting for her response, she looked him in the eyes and said

"Let's jump together"
I wonder what will go through her mind when I propose
Slowly, gently, I lean over and wrap my arm about her waist.
Her skin is soft and warm,
As tan as the sand of the sea shore.
She leans her head against my shoulder.
Smooth locks of rich brown hair cascade down her shoulders and lay against my neck.
I look into eyes as green as the grass and the leaves of the trees.
I feel as if I am staring into a forest of adventure, wonder, discovery, excitement.
Thoughts are racing through my mind; but as I look into those eyes, so deep and pure
I think only of her. Of my love for her. Of my desire to be with her forever.
I move, she moves, as if the same voice told us to lean in at the same moment.
Those soft, beautiful lips are against mine.
They are as red as the purest rose, a faint smell of mint fills my senses; telling me this is real.
I reach out and lay my work-roughened hand on top of her slender fingers.
They are so small, so delicate, so beautiful. I think to myself.
Without a single flaw, they remind me of the elegance of the very first cherry blossom,
As it slowly lifts its head to the sun and shows off its radiance.
And then she is speaking. Her voice dips and flows like the sweetest melody.
Her silvery laugh rings out like chimes in the wind.
I could hold her for hours, feeling her in my arms, listening to that sweet-as-honey voice.
The sun slowly fades into the west, suddenly filling the sky with every hue and color.
It’s time. slowly, I get down on one knee and pull a small box from my pocket.
“You are the best thing that has ever happened to me” I find myself saying
“And I cannot imagine life without you. My love, will you marry me?”
“Yes!”
That one word. Yes. She said yes. That means she is mine.
My Beach.
My Forest.
My Flower.
My Melody.
My Love.
My Life.

Locked by the fingers, but something still runs free.
Stirring up seeds in a place that can't be seen.

Above us the sea sizzles, the sky burns at our feet. I'll hear her voice for centuries.
Taste her lips in every fool I kiss. Breathing malaria into my hips.

For what no man can be she is, sees all, feels all and brushes it under your feet.
Her rust fingers find the zing of metals; from first to fourth mirrors burst, life calcifies.

There's still sand under my toenails, salt crystals in my eyes. Marooned where too much lives and in the surf I'll lie.

Swallowed his rage
& Earthed his Thunder,
On our path
We walk in wonder.

Soothed his mind
When gears did grind,
Engulfed his desire
In my Ocean of Fire.

Took his hand in Plains of Sand,
Or when at the Creek,
Feet submerged,
I kissed his cheek.

Wherever we'd go,
Our love and passion would grow,
Perfect Bliss, my Auras glow
Happy now with a pace that's slow.

Lazy, Summer, Lake-Dipping,
Frenzied Passion, Hearts Flipping,
Down the Aisle I walked while skipping,
Sealed with a kiss that felt so fitting.
If a stupendous  thought
more often than not
let me mix her caldron
atop her stove there
my tomorrows work upon
a lover and a poetess
with genuine prognosis
only tailor-made suffice
another lovely evening immanent
she quenches my desire mag.

Hands
calloused and strong lift my veil, carry me over the threshold
Turn shadows into birds when wings falter, cup round the flame biting my cigarette
Tilt my face to share a sweet kiss, rest gently against blushing cheeks
Shelter from the cold, warm me in and out and in and...
Flip through musty book pages done up with dog ears and underlines
Brush curls from his face, sweep sweet sweat from his brow
In the dirt transfer love to the life created within it

You become my words,
When I became speechless.
You became my sunshine,
When I drowned in darkness.
You became my inspiration,
To wake up and live my dream.
You became my reason,
My pride, treasure and esteem.
You my darling, became my Kanna,
My strength, love and best friend.
You and I are now not two, but one,
Together, forever, beyond every end.
I wrote this poem for my best friend to whom I got engaged to on Tuesday, June 14th 2016. This poem in its simplest form, defines our union thus far and I wrote it to announce our engagement to the world. *Kanna* is the name I call my fiance by, which in Tamil refers to the Lord Krishna, also referred to as the one who stole my heart, dear to my heart and beloved one.

Open up and let me in

Open doors and open arms

Open concepts, because I want to make a home with you

Open-ings Begin-ings Start-ing

Open House, the first time I pretended you were mine

Open to you

Oh pen

Oh

pen

to paper

and fingers to keys, I could never explain how my legs opened to you because you were already mine and we’d done this before, just not with each other.  Though we already knew that I was the last person you’d touch and you were the last person I’d touch.  After that day,

We closed our doors to the world
