Once upon a fair evening's bloom,
A fair maiden did make a young
Courtier swoon.
With a touch of the hand
And a kiss of the lips,
She ensured that love
Was not to be
Missed.
The infatuation before love is sickly sweet
Beneath the bracing maple tree
Awaits a beau, pursued heart's key

Cold sweaty hands, timid was he
As if he's dosed with ecstasy

To woo this beautiful princess,
Hath played a fiddle effortless

Heart beats loud beneath pastel dress
Mind's been puzzled, soon she'll confess

She don't regret, she won't forget
For that so moment felt kismet

Will they be lovers? Make a guess,
It all depends if she said yes
Let us reminisce and appreciate the efforts of an unfeigned gentleman to win the heart of his fairlady through traditional courtship.

With all my heart I give you "The Suitor", enjoy!

II  silence

"I fear I may lose myself
before our first kiss..."

Fifty calls later
we still talk
about nothing

And nothing
is certain
Not the wildfires
Not the rainstorms

Just this beating
of the clock...

I   "LIGAW"

"The vibrato of this gypsy dance
Wanes under the midnight sun"

It's blue and amber all at once. In those brief
moments, i imagine a future for us.

A flutter of a smile passes. A deep sigh.

I hear a million tones of "maybe",
watch the moon fade.

The blur stays with me long after.
It covers up a hollow beating and
a thrill of the unsaid and unmet.

Days and nights at home alone
Swiping left and right
Tiny movements seeking love
A quest for someone right

Profiles pass before their eyes
One stands from the batch
Buzz and flash goes the phone
Tinder, it’s a match!

A chat ensues so they court
To find rapport is great
Best to strike whilst irons hot
And so arrange a date

To meet and greet by the sea
For coffee and a stroll
First impressions made are good
Seems they’re on a roll

Finding common ground they laugh
And think themselves hilarious
Keen for more, dates arranged
This one could be serious

And then it starts to blossom
The months ahead are booked
These two people fall in love
Now for life they’re hooked

What a wondrous thing this app
Without it meet they’d never
Parallel lives yet hadn’t crossed
It brought these souls together

There’s no need to go to bars
Or parade upon a stage
Stay at home with phone and swipe
It’s dating modern age

It served them well this app of love
Used wisely there’s no folly
Happily into sunset they ride
That’s how Brian met Holly

How do two butterflies find each other
between the earth and the great sky
when there is so much space
and so much wild brush and wind
and so few of them, tiptoeing
from flower petal to petal?

I hear they dance
when they meet
their colours blending in pirouettes
and a hundred-stepped tango.
What a dazzling courtship it must be,
what a blessing to witness.

But I still cannot fathom how
in this enormity
do butterflies find each other.

She was kindness and light
he was the darkness of night
lucky black was her favourite colour
there were no lies he could tell her
she stole the truth from sealed lips
a most unusual friendship
but even friends dip
in and out of courtship
oh such fanciful names
for those wicked games
they would play

☽ ―⊰ Night and Day ⊱― ☀

Chasing each other's shadow
but the night was left a widow
where is the light in mourning
who's lost sight of morning
it's become eternal darkness
since night lost his heiress
no child of light was ever seen
for the Knight had lost his Queen
in the dark nothing grows
as life is set upon by crows
he tried his best to stay awake
but everything had turned opaque
black was his heart
without the light of day
black as the sky
without her rays.

It's when you smile
With a genuine smile;
Not a laughter within
An obscure smirk

That when you write
"I love you"
I see your blood
Inked with eternal warmth;
The life that lives willfully
Abides by each letter of love.

And when I say the same,
I hear your heart's rhythm,
Full of eager wishes;
I could read them all too soon.

Now I see you kneeling down
Submissive as my hand -
As if it has my heart -
You softly take it down
And gently fit a ring

A ring of covenant
That bonds a lifetime oath
That we would both fulfill
Because we do
marry,
Merrily, we do.
Engagement is a discernment process; not to be jusgmental in a negative way but to ensure a lifetime covenant.

It's like the first day
It's like the first night

It's like the first ray
When we light the first light

It's in the worst way
But it's worse when it won't work right

But babe if it's today
I'll be there for you tonight
