Christmas star oh so bright,
Christmas star oh so bright,
Christmas star oh so bright,
Is my humble candle light as bright?
Is my humble candle light as bright?
Is my humble candle light as bright?

Time has fed a burning fire with dying embers.
A dwindling light in the winter wind, flickering
As the night sought to put it out but could not,
Resisted death and not once lost its light.

Still I pitied it. A candle hanging by a thread,
Waging quarrels with the wind, found no solace
In my cupped hands. The cold and bitter tears
Of these winter nights pelted its withering spirit.
Written some day last June 2019.

I burned myself for you
To give you light and hope
Yet you consume me
Just like a candle dying alone

I wish to love you, like the moth for the light,
Flickering your fire and ending on its heat.
I will shed my soft wings before your might
And embrace the grace, melting at your feet.

While the seasons refine, again my wings will sprout
And then with intense love, I will fly around.
Hear my little jingle, Oh! God I devout
If many lives given, on your candle I inbound.

Because the smell of the candle reminds me of the way we fell asleep in each others arms.
Because we went to the store to pick out something together,
Nothing too huge,
Nothing too light,
Something that continues to haunt me.
I bought the candle again to remind me of the times I had you.
I bought the candle again to sleep in your t-shirt and hug my pillow close.
I no longer sleep in your arms,
But I continue smelling the candle that steadily

And I cannot stop feeling your presence just when I'm about to drift off,
Smelling your shampoo,
While I slip into a deep sleep,
Only to see you in my dreams.
I wanna move on but I don't know how.

There was a time where,
I would think about you, love.
Now, you are nothing.
I almost grabbed the candle that made me weak for you and yet, I knew I was better than that.

match lit,
flickering,
growing,
swaying,
dancing,
glowing,
melting,
melting,
melting,
fading,
subsiding,
snuffed out.
