Here is what I know,

I have known you from the start
Flashing brown eyes built a spark
Lighting what I thought was dark
I knew those stares left a mark

Here is what I see,

I have seen our own words link
Sharing stories as we drink
These stories made me think
Did you see how fast we sync?

Here is what I feel,

*I have felt your hands so fine
As we walk along this line
When they unconsciously intertwined
I was struck and you were mine
and i am yours
I was wondering if
is there anyone in your life telling you
you are beautiful
you are ****
you are intelligent

I wont be cliché and say all those things
even though I want to
even though I just did

I was wondering if
is there a person in your life to voice
these spirits
say these words
speak these truths about your existence

My schedule is quite flexible if the position is available

I’ll probably never say the previous to you

You don’t need
someone to flatter and praise you
the truth is its own keeper
Just as the sun does not need shade

still

There is the moon.

A life of blues and greens
with a small gleam
of purples and reds
all life is dead
with blacks and browns
all we see are their frowns
and yellows and oranges*
on their pale sickly faces

Disregard is Disrespect

I don’t have a responsibility
but because I feel one
I do

Let my voice and words be enough
if they are not
Let my deeds and actions be enough
if they are not

I will sacrifice:
my blood, my sweat, my tears
to try and make you understand
or at least comprehend

I am different from you
not that I am trying

I am the same as you
not that I am trying

Your definition of me and those that seem to be like me
is secondary maybe even tertiary

What matters is
the explanation of me as i interpret to you
just as
the explanation of you as you interpret to me

I am human as you
because
I AM

i used to romanticize
blue eyes,
grey eyes,
green eyes,
and even hazel eyes;

but i never knew what it was like
to be touched in a way that made my heart skip beats,
or to feel ecstatic at the mention of a name;
i never knew what it was like
to make love with someone by only holding hands,
or how intertwined hands could send shivers to your core.
i never knew what it was like
to stare so deeply into dark, chocolate-coloured eyes,
and notice how they shimmer of gold while spontaneously shining like millions of tiny galaxies from a world i saw inside them.

i used to romanticize
blue eyes,
grey eyes,
green eyes,
and even hazel eyes;
i never romanticized brown eyes,
until i fell in love with you.
this took forever to write. it might be a lil rough around the edges. but it's true.
Unequal

When you divide the people
You divide the power

When the power is divided
The problem multiplies

This is the algebra of the situation

The situation that poisons water
The situation that pollutes air
The situation that kicks all of the jobs out of the neighborhood
The situation that kicks grandma out of her home

Then blames you

blames you For needing to drink the poison water
blames you For needing to breathe the polluted air
blames you For needing to work for money
blames you For needing to live to have a life

There is no Unknown in this equation
There is no Hidden variables

There is only a forced set of inputs
To create a predetermined set of outputs

We the people refuse
to be functions of this destructive equation
We the people refuse
to be canceled out in this demented calculation
We the people refuse
to be anything other than people

and we the people demand
what is due to all
that are people
that are human
that are of Earth.

Rustling of the leaves
As they await their fate
To descend from the branches
And whisp away to the ground

Reds and oranges
Yellows and browns
Truly under appreciated
Once they hit the ground

Those that remain green
They're always marveled
And cherished so well
They're evergreen,
and always remain strong

The leaves that fall are so vulnerable
Torn up and crunched
By the feet that walk by
Without a second thought

Take a moment
Admire the view
It appears once a year
It really should mean more to you
This was written by my friend, Kayla, but I have permission from her to post it. :)

You are an angel sent from heaven above
But maybe it's all too good to be true
I don't understand why I'm feeling this love
All I know is that my heart stopped when I sat by you
On your porch looking at the night sky
I finally felt what it was like to fly
Spontaneous of me to show up here
Unexpected but I show no regret
Don't be shy don't disappear
This beautiful moment please don't forget
Wow wow spark boom
Look at the clouds
Look at the moon
Look in my eyes
Do you feel it too?
Why so shy, boy?
Baby just bloom
Your eyes shone in the reflection of the stars
They blink and flicker back to mine
In that remarkable moment I knew
I had never seen brown so beautiful
Until they reflected the color blue
