Time is non existant
The world around me shuts down
I transfer myself wholeheartedly
Into a fantastical adventure
For I am no longer myself
I am the protagonist
Sleep, I need not
But answers, well..
Answers I need to live
Books.

Every time I turn a page, I expect more
The words fill my brain with pleasure and satisfaction
I can see inside the characters
I can feel what they feel
It’s like an attachment
I don’t want to leave this place
I turn another page
My favorite character dies
It’s sad, but exciting
Then the book ends
And I reach for another
I do it to escape reality
Just for a moment

I turn the pages
Redolent of fantasies
Eyes eager for words
Sorry, I know it’s not my best. Still a beginner

Imbibing books is far more easier than imbibing humans.

remember when
we met between the lines
two pages
bound
by a thread of time

Baseboards lined with spiderwebs
That shimmer in the slanted sun
Next to worn, wooden chairs
Feeling sturdier than ever
Shelves and shelves of
Outdated textbooks and encyclopedias
Crinkly and brown and yellowed
How many trees went into these pages
This forest rearranged
And defaced by movable type

Books are my passion

I love to read

It’s also my fashion

You could read a book

About a clever crook

Who got caught by a brook

You could read one that will say

It was a scary doomsday

And the sky was gray

Another about a fairy

To a fae she was married

And they both roamed the prairie

See, look how interesting these are!

Some have jaguars

And blue stars

So read a book, I say

And do the donkeys bray,

Do it today.

I sit in my school's dusty library
Like a picture taken on film
Full of grain and texture
Frozen beams of light
Through slanted venetian blinds
Capture and hold dust
Suspended like dew in a spider web
sitting in the library

On cloud above
The desert
I rest and read a book
As the moon
Gently rains on
Me a mist
To cool me down
